If you need to escape the rat race this place is perfect, big property with great views. Only criticism is sun loungers need to be replaced and more of them.
beautiful property. the house is very comfortable with great access to the southern coast and into spain. easy access and private with great views of the surrounding of country side and the ocean. everything you could ask for is provided, a wonderfully equipped kitchen, and plenty of amenities for either staying home or heading to the beach. highly recommended!
Many thanks for your very helpful feedback. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and really hope that you'll come and visit us again, in Casa do Ventos or any other Jacaranda property!

Nice location, nice house, but not great for families with small children off-peak
The property is in a great location - in rolling hills about ten miles from Tavira and is set in nice secluded grounds. It's generally clean and well-kept and wouild make a great quiet summer holiday.
Unfortunately for us our stay coincided with unseasonably cold and wet weather; and the house is really hard to heat. The electric radiators are okay for heating up bedrooms, but the main dining/living room and kitchen area (which is huge) can only be heated using the log fire.
These heating problems are compounded by two major issues with the property. If using the electric heaters at the same time as other electrical equipment (including the oven and the water which comes from a well) the whole house's electricity tends to cut out. It's easy to turn it back on, but it's a surprising deficiency in a holiday property, and is quite irritating when it happens frequently. Also the log fire's chimney vents via (presumably) a heat exchanger of some sort into the living/dining room and into one of the bedrooms; unfortunately there must be a leak somewhere in the heat exchanger, because both rooms were becoming very smoky - for this reason we were unable to use that bedroom (fortunately we found that we didn't need to as our children can now share a room; but we'd have been quite upset otherwise.
Merci encore jacarandas holidays!
Merci beaucoup pour votre jolie feedback.
Cabanas is a tourist fishing village, an 8 km drive away from Tavira.
A pretty wooden promenade borders the small estuary, dotted with colourful fishing boats on one side and small houses, cafés and restaurants on the other. Across the river is the beautiful beach of Cabanas, a white sand island which links the natural archipelago that is part of the Ria Formosa National Park.
There are regular, small fishing boats that ferry people from the village to the Island in just a few minutes. The island is about 7 km long stretch of white sandy beach. During summer months there are seasonal beach cafés where you can buy refreshments.
On the main street of Cabanas there are plenty of bars and excellent sea food restaurants. During the summer there are traditional fishing festivals and craft markets with local bands playing Fado and Portuguese music and offering a really typical taste of the life in the Algarve.
Cabanas is very close to the golf course of Benamor and Quinta da Ria, which are both top quality courses with spectacular scenery.
A beautiful walk between the verdant countryside and the estuary will bring you to Fabrica, with its popular restaurant and river ferry crossing and further on to Cacela Velha. This highly picturesque white washed village is a reminder of how the Algarve must have looked half a century ago. Perched on a cliff top, this hamlet offers exhilarating views of the coast, wetlands and Oyster beds below.
Cacelha Velha hosts an annual Moorish craft festival and banquet during the summer.
