In the heart of walnut country and located down a dusty farm lane, Les Maratoux is oozing Périgordian wonder. Surrounded by rolling valley views, this rustic maison is a haven of peace and tranquility.

Entering this stone house from its private garden you arrive in the heart of any home, the kitchen. With traditional terracotta tiled floor, stone walls and strong ceiling beams it will be clear that you have arrived in rural France. Chez Les Maratoux is rustic-chic, with some modern touches throughout making it a perfectly comfortable space to be in, whilst remaining positively romantic and unspoilt.

On the ground floor there is a large bathroom with corner shower, w/c and bidet. A twin room with small window which faces the back garden, perfect for children, and nice and cool during the summer months.

The second floor is accessed via a wooden staircase, here you have the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, second shower and w/c. The master bedroom is dual aspect, with the kind of open countryside views that dreams are made of. Antique furniture and seagrass carpet finish this uncomplicated yet delightful light-filled room nicely.

Across the landing is the main 'salon' living room, a spacious room with traditional fireplace and wood burning stove. A large rug covers the original wooden floorboards along with several armchairs and a comfortable sofa. This room is also dual aspect and has double doors which give direct access to the garden via stone steps. Exceptional valley and countryside views are a given in this house providing the perfect back drop to any family holiday.


Additional accommodation: (The Dower)

This gorgeous gîte located in the grounds is called 'The Dower' and is a completely separate self contained property which sleeps 2 people in total. Set over two levels with small kitchenette, separate w/c, wet room shower room and living area on the ground floor followed by a sweet bedroom in the eaves of the gîte accessed via a bespoke oak staircase. The Dower is beautifully decorated with personal touches and warm colour-palates throughout. An ideal retreat for two to share!

* The Dower is rented exclusively with the main house (Les Maratoux) during the peak summer season July + August. Outwith this period it can be rented separately, you will find an individual listing for this property in our portfolio.

Exterior

Externally there is a large well-kept garden where you can enjoy the local wildlife in absolute peace and tranquility and across the lane there is a lovely secluded orchard which is shaded and at the guests disposal. There are sun-loungers and a terrace for sun-worshipers and pétanque 'boulodrome' for some friendly competition and of course a BBQ.

Les Maratoux is pet friendly however the garden is not completely enclosed and there may be livestock in surrounding fields. Owners must assume responsibility for their pets.
