VILLA LA COLONICA, Luxury Tuscan Farmhouse with Pool and Staff close to Florence

Boasting uncompromising peace and privacy, La Colonica is a traditional Tuscan farmhouse with air-conditioned bedrooms, a private swimming pool, and chef services for six breakfasts a week. Located 30 km from Florence, this fully staffed villa is a short drive from Tuscany’s artistic and cultural hubs, while being perfectly situated in the wonderfully private and secluded countryside.

The villa spans three floors and features beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, and generously sized, light-filled rooms. The interiors have been refurbished to create an extremely livable, charming, and welcoming home for families and groups of friends.

The villa’s front door leads from a courtyard into the fully equipped kitchen, whose doors open onto the outdoor dining terrace. In the kitchen, a central marble table provides ample space to enjoy a variety of in-house cooking experiences with your private chef—including pasta-making and ancient-grain bread-making classes, to name a few. You’ll also find a wine cooler in the pantry, stocked with a selection of local niche wines that you can purchase to enjoy during your stay. Turning right from the kitchen, you’ll find an elegant dining room with a table that seats 12, which in turn leads into a wonderfully spacious living room where sofas are arranged on either side of a grand open fireplace. The recreation room—featuring a full-size pool table—next door is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a drink and a game.

The first floor features five spacious bedrooms, each offering glorious views of the countryside and air conditioning. Three of these bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms; the remaining two share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom—a full-sized bathroom located between the two bedrooms and accessible from both. Additionally, the first floor features a smaller (yet very cozy) living room with an open fireplace where guests can unwind whenever they like. Accommodations at Colonica are rounded out by a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom on the lower first floor, accessible via the courtyard. This sixth bedroom has private access to the gardens and a furnished terrace, where you can enjoy some “me” time with a cup of coffee or tea. This bedroom does not have air conditioning.
The gated, wrap-around grounds of Colonica feature several shaded and sun-drenched sitting areas. Directly outside the kitchen is the main shaded terrace, equipped with a modern lounge and dining area. It is here that you’ll spend most of your time soaking up the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying meals prepared by your in-house chef with family and friends. A few steps along a paved path lead to the decked swimming pool, complete with modern umbrellas and sun loungers.

The vibrant 4-acre gardens surrounding the villa blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, featuring centuries-old oaks and chestnut trees, Mediterranean flowers, and aromatic shrubs. Where the villa’s fenced grounds end, acres of the estate’s sunflowers begin, painting the Schifanoia Valley yellow. No stay in Mugello is complete without a visit to Barberino di Mugello, Dicomano, Firenzuola, and Scarperia. Further afield, Florence is only a 30-minute drive away, while Siena, Pienza, Chianti, Lucca, and Pisa are all conveniently accessible in under two hours by car.

Services
The villa includes daily cleaning of the common areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms six days a week. One mid-week change of linens and towels is also included in the rental fee. The rental fee also includes a daily continental breakfast six days a week. The table is set starting at 8:00 AM and cleared at 10:30 AM.
