Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Come Away Cottage is one of the few private single family beach homes available for rent within the boundaries of Four Mile Village, despite what the internet tells you.

Four Mile Village is a small, private gated community, accessible only to owners and guests, or by prior appointment with the caretakers of the Coffeen Nature Preserve. There are no condominiums within this community.

This is an exclusive property with only 53 home sites on approximately 350 acres, including a private beach access.

Stroll approximately 200 yards to the beautiful, sugar white, sandy beach on private roads with no through traffic.

Enjoy fabulous unobstructed Gulf views from this charming, 3 bedroom, lake front home. Turn around and enjoy the fabulous views of the lake.

This incredibly light and airy home is just minutes by car from world class golf, tennis, shops and restaurants, yet is just minutes by foot from one of Florida's most pristine undeveloped beaches. The private beach access is approximately 200 yards and does have parking available.

Turn east along the shore, past the last village home and you are on the 2 mile stretch of secluded, preserved beach within Topsail Hill Preserve State Park.

Come Away Cottage is privately owned but managed professionally by Susan Paladini for David Walker Realty, Inc.

Susan is the resident manager for Four Mile Village and the Coffeen Nature Preserve.

Perfect Spring Break for our family

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 spent our Spring Break here in 2015. We have spent some time in the Destin area, but this is the best spring break we have ever had in Florida. The house is in a gorgeous nature reserve that has been impeccably maintained, great for history buffs too, as this area has WWII relics through out . The private beach is for vacationers in this neighborhood only, so it is mostly empty. When you are sitting on the beautiful beach, you can look to the West and see all of the huge high rises and crowded beaches and be happy that your family is alone. You can easily walk to the beach in a few minutes.

The house is a wonderful mix of modern & retro. You can find all of the fun Mad Men things in the house, as well as a nice fresh kitchen. Beds are comfy, wonderful new linens and the kids especially liked the bunk area.

There is fishing right on the lake that is in the back of the house, it was fun to look for the alligators, we only saw one, but there was evidence he was around.

Even though we had a nice private home, we could easily get to the restaurants, shopping and other water activities just in Destin.

We are booking again for Spring Break 2016 and cannot wait!

I've stayed in this house so many times now that I like to pretend it's mine, well it's a nice fantasy anyway! It's a perfect house for large groups with lovely views of ocean & the lake, really special. If you like the beach party scene & lots of action you won't like 4 mile & 4 mile won't like you. Once you discover this place with it's special charm you will return again & again just as my family has done for almost 50 years now.

OMG

My family went to Four Mile every summer from 1950 on to the 70's and it was utter Paradise. We stayed in this house several times. and the old 'Everett" House, may be renamed, but was on the beach directly. However, this house has just a magic to it by it's intimate location to fresh and salt water, rolling dunes and gorgeous greenery. Had the most amazing times here, such good memories. To think I was raised every summer here for the first 23 or so years of my life is/has/was is such a privilege. It cannot be recreated, this place.........it's extraordinary quality is that is it not a "fancy" high style overdone and classless place. Rather, it has a 'soulful' aspect that can only come from leaving things ALONE and letting the environment be simply what it is and building homes that respect these qualities. Love this house, love 4 Mile Forever.

If you are looking for an amazing mixture of 50's modern beach architecture in a stunningly beautiful natural setting (with a perfect beach in the front, and a pictureque lake in the back) then this is IT! Oh.. and it is totally private, beach-to-yourself kind of place where the houses are set in gorgeous nature. If you are lucky enough to go here, consider yourself very blessed.

We have wonderful memories from our time at Come Away Cottage. The home's layout is especially nice for extended families, with ample common areas as well as privacy. Ammenities are modern; decor suits the community. We'll definitely return.

This is a charming home that fits perfectly into the Four Mile Village experience. Having the lake in the backyard to fish in is a bonus. There is plenty of space for everyone. The children especially love the bunkbeds.
