Sunset Chalet at 49 Degrees North

Our cozy little chalet is a west facing mountain house with jaw-dropping sunsets almost every night. We're literally two and half minutes from 49 Degrees North so it's an ideal spot for a ski vacation as well as snow shoeing, hiking, sledding, snowmobiling, and bliss in general! During the summer bring your bikes, hiking boots, and huckleberry-ing outfits. Our house is amidst a giant huckleberry patch.
We have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a little loft space with an inflated queen mattress. (Four total beds.) The living room has the soul of a ski lodge - stunning views, vaulted ceilings, log walls, high-efficiency wood stove, and HDTV.
The Master Bedroom, which is particularly spacious, also has a HDTV as does the Billiard's Loft and one other bedroom.
Apart from the ideal outdoor experiences there are lots of indoor entertainment options: pool table, dart board, Foosball table, DISH network with Netflix and PRIME, as well as a smattering of board games.

Oh Ya! Hot Tub! It's sensational after a day in the woods and not too bad in the morning either. It sits on the deck with a mind blowing mountain panorama. (It's about 9 feet off the ground so mind your little dudes and yourselves.) Also on the deck is a two burner propane grill.
Back inside we have a washing machine/dryer, fully equipped kitchen (yes, dishwasher), and Wi-Fi. Our laundry room doubles as a "mud room" but there is a lot of space for drying and storing gear throughout the house.
Cozy up and have fun!

FULL DISCLOSURE: We are literally a log cabin on top of a mountain; you may need to bring a sweater and some fortitude for especially frigid days...
Also, I know this is peculiar, but there is no garbage service up there and we ask our guests to help remove their garbage. Sorry, I know it's super weird.

Quick getaway

Love this place, great views, plenty to do or if you choose to absolutely nothing like I did it works great for peace and quiet. Communication with the owners were great and they went out of their way to make sure my stay was fabulous. If you don’t feel like cooking there are cool local places to eat. Highly recommend staying here.

Slice of alpine heaven!

This property is an absolute treasure and the hosts are gems! We had the greatest time with all this cabin has to offer—from the hot tub with stunning views, to the array of games, to walks in the woods, to hitting the slopes 5mins drive away! Perfect family getaway!

We were looking for a peaceful few days away. Hal’s ski chalet could not have been more perfect. Best of everything: well-equipped, spacious, comfortable home; spectacular views/sunsets from deck; games room with pool table; hot tub (!) and forest to explore. We stocked up on supplies in Chewelah and cooked great dinners every night. Hal - Thanks for your great communication and hospitality. We will definitely be back!

Sunset Chalet is our favorite place to stay in Chewelah. We have stayed there in the summer and came back to ski in winter. The cabin is gorgeously appointed, stocked with everything you need to cook, build a fire, play games or just be cozy, relax and marvel at the incredible view. Hal the host couldn’t be nicer and is super easy to communicate with. The cabin is extremely clean, incredibly comfortable and laid out perfectly. The location cannot be beat, for access to 49N as well as the town of Chewelah. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Sunset Chalet.

Perfect for our family ski weekend!

We loved the place. It is less than a mile from the ski area and was perfect for our family ski weekend. The cabin comfortably accommodated 6 adults and 1 kiddo. Everything is very clean and the kitchen is well stocked. We had plenty of room and the gear room with washer/dryer was perfect to make sure everything was dry and ready for the next day. We loved the hot tub after a long day of skiing! It was clean and in great working order. Hal is the best owner I've ever rented from, he was always available for questions and follow-up.

The ONLY place to have a romantic ski trip with your spouse

Without a doubt, this is the only place we will stay whenever we want to ski 49 Degrees North. The property has everything you could want or need, and the hot tub and view are unparalleled. Highly recommend this as a place to have a secluded and romantic ski trip with your partner. The owner Hal was extremely friendly, responsive, and flexible. There is so much amazing art around the house and everything is so well thought out. It felt like we were staying in a friend’s home instead of some bare bones rental unit. I hope to be this satisfied again with my next adventure in a different place, but the Sunset Chalet has set the bar extremely high.

Super Comfortable and Unique!

This cabin is loaded with unexpected amenities and the comfort level is over the top. Everything you need is there from ridiculously cozy beds, a zillion games and books to anything you could ever want to cook with. The location is gorgeous with beautiful views of the valley, forest behind with trails and only a very short drive to town. The pictures online don’t do this charming cabin justice! Hal is dedicated to making his guests feel welcome and truly cares about their experience. He answered my questions quickly and made sure we knew he was only a call away if we needed anything. We will definitely be back during ski season to enjoy this very special chalet in the winter!

Peaceful remote vacation in Romantic Chalet with Wood Fireplace and Hot tub

Our trip to Chewelah to enjoy the nice early spring weather and cozy fireplace met all our expectations. Hal is a great host and his property is top notch. The wood burning fireplace was awesome. Hot tub with a Million Dollar view is romantically unbeatable!!! After a day outdoors, the wood stove with our favorite movie made chilly evenings cozy. Everything about this place is so perfect, we wouldn't change a thing! Thank you for letting us stay and relax at your beautiful place once again!

Amazing, comfortable, and family-friendly chalet!

We rented the property to ski 49 Degrees North for the weekend, but could have hung out at this chalet all weekend with the kids. It has a wonderfully open design - I could hear and see all the kids (16, 16, 12, 10, 8) playing pool upstairs and still cook and watch the game downstairs. The owner was very communicative and friendly; took care of everything. Best rent ever.

Athletes only need apply!

We expected steps but 3 flights (50 stairs) lugging all our ski gear, food for 4 days and all the infant paraphernalia was a workout before we’re even settled in. However, a skier’s dream trip with the snow gods blessing us mightily! 20” and more coming. Really hate to say goodbye! Hal, thank you again for being such a great host!

This was my 2nd stay, and it was as great as the first. Extremely comfortable and welcoming, the owner is responsive to any question or issue, all we had to bring were clothes and food - everything else was there and ready for us. Will definitely stay again the next time I'm out that way.

Best Getaway Yet

We have stayed at dozens upon dozens of hotels, motels, and home shares and for the most part they've been professional and nice, but Hal takes the cake! The house was amazing and exactly as advertised. Fully stocked with amenities, even a welcome basket - we wanted for absolutely nothing. Everything was expertly maintained and perfectly decorated. The neighbors were friendly and kind, the hot tub was absolutely perfect, although the native moose were a little intimidating (seriously, enjoy the nature, but read the warnings and heed them!). I slept better in the master bedroom than I've slept in months...heck, I slept better on the couch than I've slept in months. It could be the mountain air, but more likely carefully chosen furnishings to ensure relaxation. Hal communicated with us openly, including just wishing us a happy holiday. I think I'd like to hang out with that guy some day! Definitely giving this one two thumbs up!

Fabulous Chalet!

This Chalet was a perfect place for our family getaway. Beautiful mountain location with all the amenities we could ask for. Because it's 2020 we had an unusual snow storm in October and arrived to about a foot and a half of snow. Hal was so concerned that he had not left the snow shovel for us to use, but we did fine with the neighbor's shovel. We also brought one of our own with us so we were fine! Once we settled in, we had a very relaxing enjoyable weekend. The woodstove kept the cabin cozy and the hot tub was so wonderful to have for sore muscles. We spent many hours play darts, foosball and pool in the game room after putting the little one to bed every night. Thank you Hal for allowing us to stay in your beautiful second home!

What a place! Gorgeous! Don’t think just book it!

From the get go Hal the owner was responsive and super friendly. He answered all my questions and was more than accommodating. The location is about 15 min from Chewelah, and a gorgeous drive. 1 hour and 15 min from the Spokane airport. The view is to die for and the place was clean and had everything we needed! We will definitely be back. We made the trip from Colorado and it was even prettier than I expected. I can’t say thank you enough to the owners for giving us a great place to be while we visited Washington and the friendly correspondence.
