Boasting period features alongside contemporary living, this beautifully renovated village forge, nestled in the heart of the Suffolk countryside but close to the coast, is the perfect property for a couples’ retreat. With spacious and stylish interiors and set within peaceful surroundings, it’s the ideal base for two guests to discover everything that Suffolk has to offer.
From the private parking area, a path through the enclosed garden leads you to the front door. Once inside this lovely, single-level property, you’ll discover charming, traditional features such as exposed beams and even the existence of the original bellows. Now, the bright and welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner offers everything you could need for your self-catering stay. The living area has a cosy, stylish sofa and a pretty bay window seat from which you can admire the views of the garden and the surrounding countryside, and the kitchen is very well equipped and offers a breakfast bar for more informal dining. Continuing through the cottage there is the beautifully presented bedroom with a king-size bed, plenty of storage and more views across the fields. There’s also a stylish, contemporary shower room with a large walk-in shower to complete the accommodation. Outside, there’s a lovely, enclosed garden with steps up to a patio area with a small table and chairs – a great sun trap and a beautiful spot whatever the season.
The property itself is in the small village of Saxtead which is nestled deep in the Suffolk countryside, just 3 miles west of the charming market town of Framlingham, where you can step back in time to explore its magnificent 12th-century castle and find an excellent range of places to eat and drink. Considered the jewel in Suffolk’s crown, why not head to Woodbridge 14.5 miles away to discover a fabulous selection of independent restaurants, weekly markets full of local produce, riverside walks along the River Deben and boat trips along the river offering superb views of Sutton Hoo (16 miles).
