Perfect house in Vaucluse!
We stayed here last summer, and enjoyed it so much we rented again. We are already planning to book again for 2019! We love the house itself: historic with just the right mix of modernisation. Excellent kitchen, luxurious bathroom, and the main rooms overlook the historic square with fountain. The top floor terrace is ideal for dinners and then stargazing over vineyards and hills of the Dentelles du Montmirail.

Sympathetically renovated property perfectly situated in the medieval city of Vaison-la-Romaine
We recently stayed at this beautifully charming house in Vaison-La-Romaine and were over the moon with our time here. The house has been perfectly renovated in keeping with the old town characteristics and charm.
It provided a large and comfortable living space with all the amenities we needed and more and was a short and beautiful walk down into the old town.
Should we ever visit Vaison again we would most definitely want to stay in this beautiful house again.

Viva Vaison
We had a great week in Provence with this beautiful home as our base of operations. Incredible setting in the medieval city on the hill overlooking the modern section of Vaison la Romaine. The house is wonderfully restored, beautifully furnished and decorated, and equipped with everything you need for a wonderful vacation. The views from every window and the rooftop terrace remind you that you are in a different time and place. Wow!

Thanks again for choosing Casa Vasio.

We have stayed here before, and everything was perfect as always. One big improvement is that the house now has fiber internet, and speeds are really fast. If you need to do any work, 200 Mbps speeds (just tested now) is more than enough!
I should also mention how beautiful the house is from the outside as well as inside. We went to look as some postcards yesterday, and it is kind of cool to see the house you live in be one one of the cards!

In this special time of COVID ,I really appreciated that you did not cancel your stay at Casa Vasio and I hope that independently of the circonstances you and your spouse have enjoyed your stay in provence. Thanks for your comments on line and hopefully next year will be more rewarding and as always...you are welcome.

This is a stunning house done over beautifully to include all modern conveniences. It faces a charming old square centered on a huge tree and a trickling stone fountain. The handsome stone stairs were a challenge for us, no longer young, but worth it. Be aware that parking is not easy and food shopping requires a car. This area is primarily residential. But if you want an authentic experience of life long ago, this is it.

Thanks Monica. We appreciate always comments from our clients and we are glad that you appreciated the home and location. When we discovered the stairs, we fell in love with the home and each time we go up and down, we think of all the generations that preceded us. It brings humility and some philosophy . Hope to see you back and thank you again.

We spent 10 glorious days at Casa Vasio & hated to leave! This is a gorgeous home w/4 levels of space to enjoy. Beautifully decorated with provencal furnishing & art, it was a real joy to relax on comfortable sofas & chairs, sleep on a perfect mattress w/fine linen & blankets, & have plenty of hot water & thick, fluffy towels for long showers. We enjoy cooking & I must say this kitchen is incredibly well-stocked with all you need including the best chef's knives! After hiking during the day, we enjoyed evenings with wine on the roof deck before dinner. Beyond the conveniences of laundry, etc, there are so many small touches in this home that are not reflected in photos or this review---it really goes beyond perfect. Owner Gil was responsive immediately to our booking & we took his advice to not miss the Tuesday market in Vaison (outstanding!), plus there's plenty of books & info on things to do in area to be found the house, including a photo book essay on the house itself! And, we are eternally grateful for meeting Marie J, who will orient you to the house, as she is an exceptional lover of the arts & all things Provence, a lovely human being and fun person who lives nearby & goes way beyond simply helping one to settle in. Merci to Gil and to Marie! We hope to return to Vaison & Casa Vasio again soon!

Twice in one summer!
We rented this house in July of 2018 and loved it...we were very sad to leave, and thought "until next year." As a result of some weird business travel plan changes, we were "stuck" in France for a week, and had to stay somewhere. As luck would have it, our favourite house was available, so we booked immediately.
We had a perfect seven nights. If anything, it was even better than our stay earlier in the summer. Some nights were too cool to eat on the third floor terrace, so we had our first dinners in the main room, and loved them just as much as our rooftop dinners.
Check in and check out were flawless as before, and we are even meeting some of the neighbours, all of whom wave and chat and are most friendly.

We've stayed in this property several times before, but only in the summer. Not only is Provence great in late October, but the property was perfect too! Some places we've rented before are not well heated, and we are always cold. This property has many electric heaters, and every room was exactly as warm as we wanted it. Also, the many large windows on the square face east, so it is wonderfully bright in the mornings, which is very nice during the shorter days.
Even on rainy days, the house was comfortable and bright, and we enjoyed staying in and reading!
Although it was too cold to eat on the rooftop patio, the main room dining area was perfect for dinners in as well: we ate at home seven of our eight nights!
We'll almost certainly try another shoulder season stay here again!

Perfect medieval house inside the walls
This is the seventh different place we have rented in France. It was unusually large, elegant, well located, and well outfitted. Many rental places are not really set up for doing more than having breakfast, but this kitchen was fully equipped and we made eight meals there. And as a special treat we ate each dinner on the rooftop terrace overlooking the old city, vineyards and the sunsets.
The house has an incredible view over the little square and fountain: we will long remember listening to the splashing of the fountain during our mornings as we woke up. The main bedroom is charming, but the smaller bedroom would only be suitable for a child.
Pre-arrival emails, as well as check in and check out were all on time, friendly and flawless.
The one thing I would emphasize is how extremely well put together and historic the house is. It looks good in the photos, but is even nicer in person, which is rare! We really felt like we were able to stay in a place that in most places in the world would be a special exhibit of beautiful architecture and history.
For a couple we could not recommend it more highly as a home for a romantic vacation.

Wonderful stay in beautifully decorated medieval home with modern conveniences
Absolutely delightful! My wife and I and our three children thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming home. Ghislain and Leticia Gonsette have done a superb job in renovating this wonderful home in the heart of the Medieval portion of Vaison-La-Romaine. Situated on the Place du Vieux Marche, this home has a scenic view of the old square with its shops and running fountain. It is about a 15 minute walk to the shops of the newer part of the town, across the ancient Roman bridge. The house itself has large rooms, with beautiful stone walls, arches and stairs, the stairs being worn down by hundreds of years of usage. With a well appointed modern kitchen and modern bathrooms that were tastefully decorated in keeping with the rest of the house, we enjoyed the best of both worlds; savoring the historic ambiance but with all the modern conveniences. In spite of the July heat, the stone house provided a cool haven from the midday heat. It is well maintained and our hostess Michelle Paris made everything very easy for us. She was gracious and helpful even after our late arrival due to traffic on the drive from Paris, and was always available to answer any of our questions.
This home was a wonderful base from which to explore some of the many attractions that Provence has to offer: the Roman ruins and theatre within Vaison-La-Romaine, the Pont D'Avignon and Papal Palace, the Roman antiquities of the Theatre in Orange, the Colosseum in Nimes, the aqueduct at Pont de Gard. We only stayed for one week but wished that we could have stayed longer, and hope to return in the not too distant future. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us!

It is a reward for us that our guests appreciate so much this property.
When we bought this home, first we fell in love with the surroundings of the medieval city. There was much to be done to restore the historical aspect but we had faith and we did it not in the spirit of gain but we wanted to do the things right. We wanted to offer comfort and modernity while keeping the spirit of the medieval surroundings. We love to stay in our home and we are happy to share it with guests who can appreciate.
Thanks to all of you.
Gil and Letty Gonsette.
We stayed here again during August and early September, and couldn't recommend the property more highly. Pictures don't even do it justice: the home is incredibly bright and well lit, even on the occasional cloudy day. The owner is super helpful and responsive. The fountain outside your bedroom window lulls you to sleep each night, and the morning sun wakes you up. Five stars for sure.
We spent 3 weeks in this beautifully restored home. Tastefully decorated, gorgeous views, quiet, really nice kitchen. Wonderful location. Very close to the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux (hiking and biking), Gigondas (great wine, plus a Michelin starred restaurant: L'Oustalet), and plenty of cute villages and markets to explore. Highly recommended.

Old world charm with modern conveniences
This beautifully, lovingly restored 15th century home symbolizes France’s history in the Vaison-la-Romaine area. It is tastefully decorated, maintaining the old world charm. Kitchen is great and well outfitted. It’s in a fantastic location – easy to walk into town. We loved being in the medieval upper village and still be able to walk into the lower village. We were able to take some great hikes in the area and it’s easy to visit neighboring villages and wineries. After traveling through France for 10 days it was a welcome respite to have a lovely home for two weeks. We even took a cooking class in Vaison, Cuisine de Provence. There are a number of very good restaurants within walking distance.
A couple of items to keep in mind. Because it is four stories ( we mostly just used the second and third floor- kitchen living area and bedroom ), be prepared to do a lot of climbing up and down stairs with some uneven surfaces.
The other thing is parking can be a little tricky. We were fortunate enough to not have to park far away most of the time, but several times did have a climb up the hill to the house.
Pascal, the property manager was always available, very kind and took care of any needs we had, which were few.
All this being said, it was worth it! This was our favorite part of our month trip in France.

beautiful house.
We had a very pleasant stay. The house is in walking distance to sites, shops and restaurants. The house itself is well appointed and very comfortable. The only negative for us was the stairs, a bit precarious from master bedroom to the bathroom at night. Otherwise we would highly recommend this lovely house for a holiday.

Renter for 1 1/2 weeks
The house was as advertised: clean, well-cared for and obviously loved by the owners themselves. Decorating details spoke to the owners' efforts to make it aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. The house was well-supplied in terms of necessaries.
We were acquainted with the location in the Haute Ville from previous visits to Vaison and knew that there were parking difficulties and that the house was difficult to access by car, but that did not disturb us. it might be wise to advise future renters of the difficulty of access. Also, a railing up to the fourth floor would be useful.
Thanks for sharing the house with us.

This house is lovely. Quiet, comfortable and atmospheric. The view overlooking the courtyard is of another world. Best for a luxury vacation for two. Easy walk to restaurants and sights. A Medieval House Brought to Life
My wife and I spent a delightful week (May 27-June 3, 2017) in Casa Vasio. This 3 story, ancient house has been charmingly refurbished for the 21st Century with all modern conveniences without losing any of its historic feeling.
The medieval section of modern Vaison is exactly where you want to be, with picturesque, winding , cobble-stoned streets. The house is ideally situated for exploring this old village. And the Roman ruins (the most extensive in France) are within walking distance.
The owners of Casa Vasio go out of their way to be helpful and make your stay a wonderful experience..
I recommend their home without reservation.

Beautiful, comfortable home in a great location
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Vasio immensely. The home has been lovingly restored, retaining the beautiful stone historical elements while incorporating modern conveniences and tasteful furnishings. We loved the location in the Haute-Ville in Place du Vieux Marche. Though parking in not permitted there, we were able to drive up to the front door to unload our luggage. We were met by Michelle, a gracious woman who enthusiastically showed us all through the house, explained details we would need to know and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants and cafes, the Tuesday market and the supermarket, and wineries. Convenient parking is close by. The kitchen facilities are excellent and well supplied with everything you need to make meals at home. The bed is quite comfortable. The stairs leading up to the family room / kitchen and then up to the bedroom and full bath on the floor above are stone and require some care to negotiate, which we did not find at all difficult. The Wi-Fi is good. There is a printer available. The listing description was accurate, the property clean and well-maintained and we knew we could contact Michelle with any questions or concerns. We would definitely recommend this home to relatives and friends.
