About this property

Apartment in historic building with spectacular view of the sanctuary

A charming apartment in Rome’s Quadrilatero neighborhood, located in the historic Palazzo Cacherano di Mombello, ideal for a short stay or for enjoying the many cultural activities the city has to offer.

Located on the sixth and seventh floors and easily accessible by elevator, it overlooks Piazza della Consolata, the oldest part of the city, and offers a breathtaking view of the sanctuary: in fact, it was selected as one of the 150 apartments open to the public on June 1 and 2, 2024, as part of Open House Torino, and featured on the billboards that adorned the city for that event.

It was renovated in 2022 by a renowned architectural firm. The project involved combining adjacent units across two levels. By demolishing part of the floor slab, a mezzanine was created to house the main sleeping area, which overlooks the living room on the lower level. This design choice allowed for spacious, high-ceilinged, open areas, meticulously planned down to the last detail. The architectural features and furnishings were all custom-made. It is equipped with large closets featuring plenty of hangers to store your wardrobe.

The apartment features a spacious living area on the lower level: a living room with a fully equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, juicer, toaster, coffee maker, large bread board, wine glasses, pots, and baking pans), a six-person dining table, a sofa bed, a television, and a guest bathroom with a sink and toilet.

The cantilevered loft—created by cutting the iron beams and tapering them toward the ends—is characterized by its great lightness and conceals, on the upper level, the master bedroom, spacious closets, and the master bathroom with a shower, sink, toilet, and bidet.

Another attic-style room on the upper level, with two windows overlooking the rooftops of Turin, is currently used as a laundry room (with a professional washer-dryer) and a relaxation area, and is equipped with a workstation. Across from the front door, on the first floor, there is also a coin-operated laundry facility available for very large loads.

Nearby are the MAO (Museum of Oriental Art), Piazza Castello with Palazzo Madama and the Royal Palace, the Egyptian Museum, the Shroud Museum, the Polo del ’900, and the city’s most important buildings. If you plan to visit the museums, we recommend booking online before your arrival.

There are many restaurants and bars in the area: you can have dinner delivered or prepare a meal in the fully equipped kitchen, and spend a quiet evening enjoying the view of the sanctuary, which is illuminated on Friday and Saturday evenings. It feels as if you’re inside the church (the one most beloved by Turin residents, filled with votive offerings that are well worth seeing). It almost feels like being in heaven, or suspended somewhere outside of time.

The Porta Palazzo Market—the largest in Europe—is just a few blocks away. Every second Sunday of the month, it hosts the famous market for antiques, vintage items, and collectibles: the Gran Balon.

The accommodations are located in a ZTL (restricted traffic zone between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m.) but you can park your car in a 24-hour garage two blocks away,
https://parkingtorinocentro.it
(non included in the price), which also offers a car wash service.

The apartment has wonderful natural light (each of the three rooms has two windows) even on cold winter days. It’s right in the city center (convenient to all amenities) but, since it’s on the sixth and seventh floors and overlooks a pedestrian square, it’s very quiet—except on June 20, the Feast of the Consolata: between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., the street is cordoned off for the procession of the statue of Mary through the neighborhood streets. The prayers and songs are broadcast over loudspeakers at high volume. The view from above of the square packed with thousands of worshippers is impressive, but if you want to go to bed early, don’t book a room that evening.

Each of the three rooms has an air conditioner with a remote control. The independent heating system allows you to adjust the temperature to suit your preferences.

There is a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector, a fire extinguisher, and a first-aid kit, as well as, of course, soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.

Upon exiting the elevator, you’ll need to climb 8 low steps: therefore, this accommodations are not recommended for those with walking difficulties; moreover, since it spans two levels (even though the internal staircase is very accessible), it is not suitable for people with limited mobility.

Hosting events and smoking are not permitted, but smokers will appreciate a small balcony outside the apartment, complete with an ashtray and a magnificent view of the sanctuary.

If you have any questions or need clarification, we’re here to help. If you’re coming to Turin to visit an art exhibition (we’ve mentioned this before, but it’s our passion), remember to book online to avoid waiting in line. The Accorsi Foundation is also accessible via a pleasant walk under the arcades or a short bus or taxi ride. For the Agnelli Art Gallery, however, it’s best to take the metro from Porta Susa. In any case, we’ll be happy to provide you with all the information you need.
