Wow! I'm engaged! What a wonderful house to add to our forever memories! Thank you so much Ginee for helping Earl put the most special weekend I have ever had! I know you took care of the flowers for him lol! It was so wonderful! We look forward to seeing you at the wedding! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Ginee, you helped my man make this a dream come true!
We stayed four days/three nights over New Year's Eve. It was just what we needed after our mom pasted away in September. We also had one women finishing up with Chemo after a year. We relaxed, played games, and enjoying each others company. Loved the 2 fireplaces. We never left the place except to go gem mining one day. It was wonderful and the kids even got to see a little snow. The house was set up perfectly for a group and the dogs (3) enjoyed the grounds as well. The owner came and spent some time with us on the last day. Extremely friendly and knowlegeable.
This place was absolutely beautiful!! We stayed for a weekend in December and it surpassed all of our expectations! There was plenty of space for every guest (all 13 of us!!) and the rooms were perfect!
I would HIGHLY recommend spending time on Hummingbird Pond! You will not be disappointed!!
Hummingbird Pond is a charming lake house nestled away in the mountain woods. The property is quiet and beautiful, and the house itself is comfortable and gorgeous. The kitchen is fully equipped and all linens are provided. We arrived for a "teachers' getaway" weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful holiday decorations, fresh flowers, and greetings from the neighbor dogs Cookie and Pebbles - they came in and sat by the fire with us! :) There was plenty of room for all of us (13 adults), and it wasn't long before we started planning our return trip! We thoroughly enjoyed the porch overlooking the semi-frozen pond, the fire pit and indoor fireplaces, and the warm environment of this home. I will never look for another place to stay in or around Asheville because Hummingbird Pond is perfect! Two grocery stores are close by (5 minutes) and downtown Asheville is an easy 20 minute drive. We stretched out our last morning there as long as possible and will definitely be back.
We arrived with 10 girls to celebrate life, love and friendship, the only thing that could have made the house better would have been a working hot tub. This was my one request for the weekend so i was a little bummed. The house itself was a great location, breath taking views to watch the fall leaves drop and the stars shine bright at night. Fresh flowers, mums and pumpkins made it feel like the house was decorated just for our arrival. Clean towels were in each bedroom as well as cozy linens on the beds. Firewood for the fire pit and even fire starters were a great addition to the property! There were two dogs who visited us each day; pebbles and an unknown Mr., they were so sweet and for a bunch of dog lovers added to the homey feeling. The dogs did not beg or try to get in the house unless invited. $20 Uber ride to downtown Ashville just like the site said. Great house for all ages.
Our two families--comprised of four adults and five children--really loved the layout, location and situation of Hummingbird Pond. The pond provides hours of entertainment to children and the porch is a great social gathering point for everyone.
Having said that, there is room for improvement, namely the house needs to be deep-cleaned when one group leaves and another enters, more than face-cleaning it currently receives:
For example, the barbecue was so full of grease that we nearly had a fire the first night when we tried to use the grill; even though the porch is an open space, it was dirtier than it should have been and had clearly not seen a broom in months; the tablecloth on the kitchen table was filthy and needed to be changed; the screens on the screen door were broken, allowing bugs to come into the house, etc.
In summary, even though this is the country, the house should be cleaned more thoroughly during each shift change, being that we all pay for that anyway. With these changes I would be very happy to stay again at Hummingbird Pond.
This place was so perfect to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. I cannot not say enough great things about this cabin! There were 12 of us and the cabin is very spacious and we all had plenty room. It was nicely kept, everything was clean and well maintained. The place is stocked with everything you need, and I mean everything from paper towels, TP, salt and pepper, paper plates etc. We brought more stuff than we needed because it was already there.
We spent most of the time lounging on the deck and dock, the weather was perfect. We had our two dogs that pretty much lived in the pond and swam all day and night and were able to lounge and dry off on the deck. We also enjoyed the hot tub in the evening after we grilled a nice meal on the deck.
This place is close to Asheville, but far enough away that you feel like your in a nice secluded area. We are definitely going to come back here again soon. Thanks for everything, this place is a real gem!
