Nice Place to stay!

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The accommodations were nice. We really enjoyed the hot tub and deck! It was what was advertised. The only reason I am not giving more stars is because for the price, I expect everything in tip top shape. The down sides that are easy fixes and weren't a big deal: dishwasher in rough shape; faucet (at least in master bath) didn't work very well...probably just needs a new aerator; shower drain very slow and the kitchen trash can was really gross when the liner was taken out, as well as the area where it sits. A corn hole game would be a great addition as a deck game! Again, overall it was a very enjoyable visit.

Great stay for a large family gathering - exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

The house is really well maintained; great for housing a larger group given the many bedrooms. Exceeded my expectations.

Beautiful View and Plenty of Room

  • 4 of 5

Although we enjoyed the cabin, the hot tub and the space, it was difficult to get an Uber. If you enjoy sitting out back and relaxing it's a great place.

Secluded cabin close to downtown Asheville

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a weekend family reunion in this well appointed cabin retreat. Open floor plan and large deck were perfect for family BBQs, meals, and gatherings. The hot tub is a plus as well. Less than twenty minutes to downtown Asheville and all the city has to offer. We hope to visit again soon.

You might think twice before you rent this cabin. I emailed this exact list to the property management company and they told me that my complaints were "wimpy" and would not do anything to make this right. They also told me that they were offended by my comments. Terrible experience and terrible customer service. I suggest that you look elsewhere when enjoying your stay in Asheville.

-Ice dispenser and water dispenser were not working

-Stove didn't seem to function properly. Everything that we cooked in the oven seemed to take twice as long as it should have including our ham on Christmas day. It said to cook for 4 hours and took 7.

-Dishwasher is extremely loud and doesn't clean dishes well at all

-Our daughters looked forward to the foosball table that was advertised in the VRBO listing and that was broken and in the garage

-The hot tub jets were not functioning properly. They made noise but didn't really do anything else.

-The toilet in the main bathroom constantly clogged and we had to plunge it an abnormal amount of times

-There was a sign that only 1 person could shower at a time. We felt like this should be mentioned before 10 people try to stay in a house together for 5 days. There might as well have only been 1 bathroom. It took us a 1/2 of a day to get all showers in and then some people ended up having to either skip or shower the night before

-My daughter cut her foot open with a nail on the foot rail of one of the kitchen -chairs

-The couches are VERY old and uncomfortable and batting is coming out of the top on one of the chairs

-We had to clean the refrigerator before we put any of our food in it because it was SO filthy

-The house was also filthy. My pillow fell to the floor and when I picked it up it was covered in dust and dirt

-Several of the rugs were thrown in a pile near the back door when we arrived

-We rent cabins every single year for christmas and this is the first time that there were absolutely no christmas decorations up. We have small children who were with us and they were so disappointed. It was a disappointment for the adults too. No tree to place gifts under etc.

-We grilled out one night and it took my husband 30 minutes to clean the grill prior to cooking. It was (for the lack of a better word) disgusting!

-One of the lamps (to the right of the couch) is broken, the part that the light bulb screws into

Owner's Response: First let me say, we work very hard to provide a clean, comfortable vacation rental for all to enjoy. Bears Den Mt. Cabin has 72 “Five Star Reviews” and 1 bad review... We ask each guest to report any concerns to us right away, so that we can address and solve any problem as quickly as possible. This guest spent 5 nights at the cabin and never notified us that they were having trouble. 3 days after departure, I received a long list of complains along with demands for a refund, or else! ... I contacted the property manager and we went through the cabin together and here is what we found; - The stove is still under warranty, so we tested it with an oven thermometer. It checked out fine, reaching the set temperature. - The toilet works fine. We haven't had a complaint since. - The ice dispenser is not working. We provide ice trays. - The hot tub is brand NEW. We tested the tub. The water heats up to 104 degrees and all jets function normally. - The top of the foosball table can be switched out and replaced with other games. The top was on crooked and was easily adjusted. - We do not advertise a Christmas Cabin. We do not decorate our cabins for the holidays. - The cabin is on a well & has one hot water heater. We suggest that if you want to enjoy a nice hot shower, don’t to run the dishwasher or clothes washer while someone is in the shower. - Unfortunately, we don't know if something is broken until it's reported. Given a chance to correct a problem, we would have no complaints.... I sincerely hope that our future guest will read the first 72 reviews and judge for your self.
