Chatham Cottages
Bedrooms ( A/C in each bedroom ) can comfortably accommodate 8 people.
This No-Smoking, self catering Cottage is in a small gated community across the street from a public beach ( 2 pictures, the picture above with the girl standing next to the seawall where you can sit and watch the amazing beautiful sunsets and the picture of the swimmers is this beach just steps away! ) , next door to tennis courts, and is only a short walk from the famous Doctor's Cave Beach, Margaritaville, Starbucks and the Hip Strip of Montego Bay. Just around the corner from Montego Bay's airport, 1 block north of the intersection of Sunset and Kent Avenues. Chatham Cottages for many years has provided vacationers and missionaries alike a welcome place to rest amid the busy streets and popular beaches of this tourist hot-spot.
The living room is large, full kitchen (Fridge, Stove, Microwave, dishes, pots, etc. ) with dining table, chairs and a bench. Can sleep up to 9 people. One Bedroom has 3 twin beds, 2nd Bedroom has 2 twin beds and a double bed, 3rd bedroom has 2 twin beds.
There is a grilled in back patio, my favorite place day or night to sit with a cup of coffee and read.
In the back yard is an Ackee tree, Breadfruit tree and over in the corner Banana.
* There is a small grocery store very close walking distance.

Cottage in Montego Bay, Jamaica

The cottage is an excellent location for a family get away with sitting area, kitchen. outside covered patio, 3 bedrooms and a large fenced yard. The location is in a secure gated community, very close to a beach and within walking distance of restaurants. I communicated with the owner and the responses were quick and helpful.

Hidden gem

I have stayed in many guests houses in Jamaica and this is a simple no frills gem if you value affordability and proximity. From the quiet and secure neighborhood, to the distance to beaches, and the 5 min drive to the airport. It doesn't get much more convenient for the price. The staff were easy to communicate with and gave several recommendations and fixed the one minor issue we had promptly. Highly recommend it.

Chatham Cottages was a great stay and highly recommend it!!!

This was a great stay, the photos were exactly what the cottage looked like. Very secure, clean, and safe. The owner Mrs. Debbie is very accommodating, greeted us, gave great recommendations of the area, where to go for groceries. If we needed anything Mrs. Debbie would ensure it was done. Great stay!!!! The small beach is across the property, get there early, the locals begin to arrive around 10:00 am or so. Recommend Doc Cave beach on the Hip Strip, very secure, clean bathrooms, bar, music. Entrance fee is $6.00 (US) per person. If your stay is longer than a week recommend you rent a car. Haggle everything!!! Cab fare, souvenirs etc. The Hip Strip is within walking distance, no issues, but be prepared to walk the gauntlet of sellers of souvenirs. Visit the casino which is across Margaritaville on the Hip Strip. the first floor is an arcade for kids, go up to the 3rd floor, food, bar and entertainment is great. I do recommend visiting the Hard Rock Cafe in Montego Bay, Pier 1, Rick's cafe in Negril and Dunn's river falls in Ocho Rio's, great time and experience.

Relaxing getaway!

The listing description was spot-on accurate. The cottage has a great location that is very close to the beach, great restaurants and the Hip Strip. The property was very clean and well maintained. Ms. Debbie was very helpful! She gave us good recommendations on things to do, where to eat and where to go for groceries and other necessities. She was always very prompt in responding to my questions before our trip and would check in during our stay to see how things were going. I would recommend this place for anyone going to Montego Bay! It was so relaxing and had everything that we needed. We were able to do so many activities. We went to Dunn's River Falls, Blue Hole/Secret Falls, Martha Brae River Rafting, and did a Hampden Rum Tour. We went to the beach! We went during a holiday and the beach across the street from the cottage was very busy, so we just went to Doctors Cave Beach, which is a short walk away. We ate at Toby's resort (just around the corner), Tracks and Records, Café Tease and the Pelican café (milkshakes!). Ms. Debbie also had some bun and cheese with coffee that we all enjoyed for breakfast!

Chatham Cottages
Montego Bay’s Chatham Hotel was built in 1934 by Stanley Foster, hitting its stride after World War 2 as a popular destination for veterans, celebrities, and vacationing families. Chatham Cottages have been operated by the Foster family on a continuous basis since then, providing affordable, secure, and comfortable accommodations for hundreds of youth groups, mission trips, and organizations. Individuals and families also continue to enjoy our peaceful alternative to the all-inclusive scene while benefiting from our close proximity to the beach (83 strides from Cottage 8 takes you to the ocean).

Why they chose this property

I love to travel! And have found over the years beginning from when our children were small and even now I prefer a self catering cottage with space and privacy to staying in a hotel room. I have set up the cottage with this in mind. It isn't fancy but it is comfortable and roomy. Having a kitchen is nice for families and those that are on special diets. Pack a lunch and go explore this lovely island!
