Renovated cottage in 2017. Detached house (living area 120 m²), with a closed ground of 160 m² and open ground (parking spaces), located within the walls of the ramparts of the first medieval castle of the Loire.
The village "Arlempdes" is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Altitude 870 Meters.
This cottage is located at the southern tip of the Auvergne and a few kilometers from the Ardeche and Lozere. We have renovated it carefully, respecting the original seal.

This cottage is also a fishing lodge.

History / other information
This project, for my brother and for myself, was particularly important to us because it is the village where we have "kept" the sheep regularly. This village is near the hamlet where the family farm was located.
This building was bought by our parents in the 1970s.
This rehabilitation was also a way of not abandoning this family heritage by contributing also to the dynamism of our common childhood.
Our project was to rehabilitate beautifully this house by preserving as much as possible the existing and local cachet to then rent it and / or use it also for our holidays.
Arlempdes is a hamlet of about twenty houses.
The river "La Loire" and the river "La Méjeanne" flow below.
It is a peaceful place where it is good to rest, or even for athletes indulge in walks (easy access or difficult trails depending on your choice) to discover the different landscapes or go fishing.
The surroundings are meadows and forests that stretch in a ravine landscape.

For this rehabilitation, we realized this construction:
In a spirit of limiting our environmental footprint
a) Mastery of the original stamp
- Maximum conservation of the original architecture of this building for a perfect integration into its environment and its site,
- Interior walls exposed in stone on some faces, and re-construction in visible stones,
- Conservation of ancestral methods (for example for jointing stone facades, local round tiles ...),
b) Control of energy consumption
- Old-fashioned fireplace that pre-heats the building and cooks 4 gas burners,
- "White" materials with a 50% mini A energy label,
c) Control of water consumption
- Choice of positioning 2 showers in Italian (to privilege in front of a bathtub) => reduced water consumption,
- WC with double flow max 3 and 6 liters,
d) Control of waste by selective sorting
- A composting area is available,
e) Mastering the quality and provenance of the materials used + Local craftsmanship
- Maximum use of local and healthy raw materials: Local wood species for carpentry, floors and roofing (supplied wood from our forests), local stones (including added stones),
- Sound insulation has been taken into account by a double skin with intermediate insulation between floors,
- Water paints,
- Support of the local craft industry: mason, carpenter, plumber, heating engineer, plasterer, painter, electrician, tiler, ...,
f) Control of nuisances
