About The Owner

The Walton family have lived on this 200 acre property for three generations and have enjoyed the beautiful views and endless outdoor activities that life on the mountain provides. We are passionate about sharing the beauty of our property with others who wish to experience the beautiful Manitou foothills and look to provide quaint comfortable accommodations for any and all looking to explore the Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs area.

The Owner purchased this house in 1997

Why The Owner chose Manitou Springs

Our property provides a unique experience to those looking to visit the area due to its location on private property. This gives our guests plenty of privacy and security while also being located just minutes away from downtown Manitou Springs. Both our Lodge and Cottage provide a feeling of being secluded in the mountains of Manitou Springs allowing for our guests to spend their days down in the city, and when that becomes too much, they have the option to retreat back up the hill to the privacy and quiet of the foothills.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It is beautiful up here! If I had known the lodge was this big all of us could have stayed here. We came from Nebraska for our brother' wedding at Craftwood Inn. We have enjoyed our time up here and will do it again. Maybe a family reunion. Naomi is a sweetie. Thank you!

A must stay for anyone that enjoys moments that will last forever

  • 5 of 5

It was a bit tricky making your way to the place but once you get there, it will surely take your breath away. The "house" (a bit modest with that term) has everything needed for a pleasant and tranquil stay. My coworkers and I were in town for the Natuonal Fallen FFs Memorial and the owners couldn't have been more accommodating . Communication was perfect. Beautiful home, beautiful town and the hot tub was the icing on the cake . I hope to,rent this home again for not years event. 5 stars across the board!

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the house very much. It was just like the video showed. The road to the house was a bit tricky but getting there was well worth the trip. Beautiful views and enjoyed the hot tub morning and night.

GREAT LOCATION!

  • 4 of 5

We came for Colorado Springs and ended up falling in love with Manitou Springs where the House is. A little river runs through the town. There are a lot of quaint shops, a huge arcade, wonderful old neighborhoods to walk through, an old mansion where you can have tea, a little hobbit like coffee shop that is open 24 hours, and much more. There was an orchestra playing under the pavilion one night. The house is also very close to Red Rock Canyon, Garden of the Gods, Cliff dwellings, waterfalls, and the entrance to Pikes Peak. Like I said, it’s the perfect central location! The house itself is very spacious. Plenty of room for a large group. We never felt crowded and there were over 20 of us. The hot tub and deck and ping pong table added a lot to our fun. The furnishings and decor are plain and inexpensive but we feel the house is a good value for a large family and would definitely recommend it.

Great location!!

  • 4 of 5

Our family loved staying at the lodge! We were able to hike the area around the cabin. The kitchen was well stocked, we ate our breakfast at the lodge, and also evening meal. Great location, should have stayed longer, lots of great things to do nearby, also enjoyed the hot tub!

Walton's Mountain Lodge

  • 3 of 5

We had a family reunion here in late June. We LOVED the large great room with the beautiful fireplace, lots of seating, a large table and chairs, and a very functional kitchen with a great refrigerator. We loved the deck and the hot tub. The views are great! We loved how many bedrooms there are in the lodge, so everyone in our family was able to sleep on a bed.

However, there are a few things that need to be amended to make the lodge a great place to stay. First, none of the toilets work well. The toilets wouldn't flush at times, and they wouldn't stop running water unless you reached into the tank to release the flapper. We also ran out of toilet paper. We were there for four nights, and there was a partial roll and one replacement roll for each bathroom for 20 people for four nights.

The beds were okay except for the mattresses on the bunk beds. They were very uncomfortable. The door handle of the storm door came off the first time we opened it. None of the closet or bedroom doors had good handles. The lodge has the potential to be magnificent, but right now it is shabby and needs a lot of TLC. The basement is dank and dingy.

Also, the lodge is not air conditioned, and the last two days we were there it was miserably hot and no one slept well. I would not stay here again in the summertime.

Map

On 200 acres just above Historic (and newly refurbished) Manitou Springs, a haven for shopping, hiking, and leisure activities. Our property adjoins directly with Pike National Forest, making access to hiking and biking trails. Our 200 acres are also home to what is left of the Midland Railroad! Just a short hike from the front door can take you back in time through the tunnels in which the gold mining trains ran through in order to transport and retrieve gold from the Cripple Creek gold rush.

In addition to all the activities in Manitou Springs, There are also Ziplines on the 200 acre property operated by Adventures Out West, a company that prides itself on bringing adrenaline-pumping fun, educational and beautiful tours, and good old Wild west fun to all those who visit the Springs.
