The Retro Retreat: Hot Tub, Fireplace, Pikes Peak Views, Garden of the Gods
Some stays are just a place to sleep. Retro Retreat becomes part of the trip.
Wake up to Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods views from the west-facing front patio, walk into Old Colorado City for coffee, shops, and dinner, then come home to the kind of evening guests remember: dinner on the covered patio, a soak in the hot tub, a movie on the outdoor TV, ping pong downstairs, and a glowing fire in the outdoor fireplace when conditions allow.
Set on a corner lot in a very safe neighborhood, this ranch-style mid-century home is furnished with genuine 50s and 60s-era furniture and has the kind of warmth and personality that makes a stay feel memorable, not generic. Brick, stacked stone, original wood floors, picture windows, and hand-selected period details give the home its true retro spirit.
The main level makes the house especially easy for families and multigenerational groups. Younger guests love the twin beds and game console. Downstairs, the lower level features a wet bar, a big TV, ping pong, and plenty of seating on two long sofas for movie nights, cards, and late-night conversation. The backyard is one of the biggest draws. The lovely covered patio features an outdoor fireplace, hot tub, large grill, and even a TV you can watch from the hot tub. The front patio is just as special, with mountain views, cool morning air, and regular deer sightings in the neighborhood. You’ll be close to Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks Canyon, Manitou Springs, The Broadmoor, Pikes Peak adventures, and all the restaurants, galleries, and shops of Old Colorado City.
Best for up to 7 adults, with room for children depending on your group setup. This is not a party house. It is a guest-loved home for families, wedding groups, reunions, and friends who want character, comfort, and a great Colorado Springs location.
Features include 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, Wi-Fi, workspace, driveway parking for 2 vehicles, additional street parking, and a fully fenced backyard. The driveway can fit a 36-foot RV, but there are no hookups. Cooling is provided by window AC units and fans. Heating is radiant.
What Guests Remember Most:
Guests remember more than a place to stay. They remember the views, the retro warmth, the backyard nights, and the feeling of being genuinely taken care of. “By far the best host I’ve experienced. The home actually felt like home, not just a rental property for my vacation.” Karissa Stayed March 2025 “Beyond how nice the place was to stay at, Nancy was even better. An absolute joy to talk to.” Matt Stayed January 2024 “This is one of those experiences that will live in my head for some time... the views are truly hard to put into words.” Brett Stayed May 2025 “The house was incredible. It was spotlessly clean and very well maintained... The backyard patio/fireplace was the icing on the cake.” Chad Stayed June 2025 “The house is perfect... Hot tub and fireplace while watching TV at night was ‘chef’s kiss’.” Miranda Stayed August 2023

Thanks for the nice review, Wanda. I got the dusties under the beds. Sheesh. I had no idea. Will be on top of it going forward. Thank you for leaving the house so clean. Very grateful for that. nancy
Our family of 7 enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful mountain views from the front yard! We ate a meal on the table out front one evening. We had fun watching a deer hang out in the back yard.
Great location - close to excellent coffee, fun restaurants, and the most spectacular views. We enjoyed sitting outside both in the front and the backyard- plenty of seating, easy to bbq and watch hockey on the big tv! House was very clean, beds comfortable and the best hot water and shower pressure ever! Nancy is a lovely host and we hope to come back!

Thanks for the kind words and good review! Please do come back! nancy
House was well equipped and clean, the internet was down but the host tried to get it fixed, appeared to be the provider had an issue, the location was great for our purposes (wedding at the Garden of Gods) and access to the downtown area was great! Seeing the mule deer in the yards was very cool too! Communication with the host was excellent!
We wanted to stay another week!Space for family to hang but also space to spread out and look at the mountains, finished each night in the hot tub star gazing, location was amazing to all attractions, can’t say enough good things.

We enjoyed the mid-century vibe of the house, the wonderful view of the mountains, deer in the front yard and the hot-tub. Great location near shops and restaurants.
We loved this cozy home for our family stay! Everyone enjoyed all the property had to offer. The kitchen had everything we needed for our Thanksgiving dinner. Our grown kids enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace outback while watching football, as well as playing a late night game of ping pong. Nancy was a great host and very responsive and accommodating!
We had a great trip with our extended family. The hot tub was amazing, the location is perfect for everything we did with our family. We could walk to a coffee shop and ice cream!

Hey Kathy, thanks so much for the kind words. I left you a voice message the other day, I bought another house in the area and wanted to tell you about it. Holler at me whenever you want.
Nancy was a fantastic host and the location of the house was convenient to many amazing restaurants and shops. It was perfect for our short stay in Colorado Springs. The hot tub and backyard patio TV was an added treat.

Ellen, Thank you so much for the nice review.
I spoke with VRBO. I actually did rate you a 5 star on all 4 categories. Overall, Cleanliness, House Rules and communication. I am not sure if you can see that but you should be good for future bookings with other hostesses. Thanks so much!
Nancy and Al (the owners) are fantastic! We really enjoyed our time here. It is the cutest house and there is so much to do in the area! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Our hiking group of 7 adults stayed here. This is a beautiful house in a nice neighbourhood and very close to all stores/restaurants. The host is very friendly and we would definitely rent this house again in our future trips.
It was great for our family and teenagers. Everything was very close. Owners were responsive to any issues that arose.

About the host
Hosted by Nancy Wile
Al and Nancy have been hosting short-term rental guests for about 15 years. They have also hosted guests at their Breckenridge home in the past. They have a huge family with 8 adult children, their spouses, 18 grandchildren, and one great-grandson, so they know what it means to create a home that works for real people gathering together.
Al is a former Air Force Academy boxing coach and Air Force retiree. Nancy is a longtime real estate investor and licensed real estate professional. They live very nearby, genuinely enjoy meeting visitors from all over the world, and are happy to help if anything comes up during your stay.
If the timing is right and you’d enjoy it, they’re always glad to say hello in person too.
Why they chose this property
This is the kind of Colorado Springs location guests come back for: quiet, safe, scenic, and close to everything that makes the west side special.
Set on a beautiful corner lot with views of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods, Retro Retreat is just a short walk from charming Old Colorado City, where guests love the coffee shops, restaurants, galleries, boutiques, and neighborhood feel. It is the kind of location that makes it easy to spend the day exploring, then come home and settle back into the house without feeling removed from the action.
The home itself is part of the experience. This custom ranch-style house carries the spirit of mid-century design, with brick exterior details, stacked stone, picture windows, and the simple, stylish character that makes the era so memorable. It feels like a trip back to a time of cool furniture, community gatherings, and real family living, while still giving guests the comfort and convenience they want today.
You are also just a short drive from Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks Canyon, Manitou Springs, The Broadmoor, Pikes Peak activities, and many of the best parks and attractions in Colorado Springs. The real advantage is the balance: mountain views, neighborhood calm, and easy access to everything.
What makes this property unique
Set on a beautiful corner lot in a very safe Old Colorado City neighborhood, this ranch-style mid-century home is full of the kind of character guests remember: brick, stacked stone, picture windows, original wood floors, warm gathering spaces, and hand-selected period-appropriate details that make the house feel personal and distinctive.
There is a true sense of memory in this house. Every room carries the fabulous 50s and 60s spirit, with retro-style decor and furnishings that make the home feel like a real time capsule rather than a themed rental. The solid oak flooring, spacious living and dining area, and large picture window with views toward Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods give the home a warmth and presence that guests feel right away.
Morning starts best on the covered front porch or sunny west-facing front patio with coffee, cool air, and the mountains in view. Guests may spot native deer moving through the neighborhood, watch the light shift across the Front Range, then head out for Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks Canyon, Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs, The Broadmoor, or a full Colorado Springs adventure day.
Inside, the home balances retro character with an easy, practical layout for groups. The ranch-style design and main-level living make it especially appealing for families, multigenerational stays, and guests traveling with grandparents or kids.
Out back, the lovely covered patio is the home’s signature evening scene. Guests can soak in the private hot tub, grill dinner on the large grill, enjoy the outdoor fireplace when conditions allow, and even watch the patio TV from the hot tub. It is the kind of setup that makes people want to stay outside just a little longer and creates the kind of nights families and friends talk about long after the trip is over.
