First time trip to Northern France

The main reason for our stay in Lille was to visit several Canadian First World War sites memorials in Northern France. The apartment, located in the centre of Old Lille, was quite ideal for this purpose as is a short drive to many of these sites and had a dedicated underground parking space for the vehicle we rented. We had very easy communication with Emilien, the owner of the apartment, and check-in/check-out very easy. The apartment itself is situated in the centre of old Lille and is a short walk to many charming restaurants offering traditional northern French cuisine. Also within walking distance, is a historic and vibrant shopping and restaurant district centred around the old stock exchange. Overall, we found the apartment clean, comfortable and covenient for venturing out to explore the larger area. Also, the location within Lille and was interesting and offered a great experience for first-time travellers to the area. Highly recommended.

BIEN SITUE

Appartement bien situé, propriétaire agréable et réactif, petites attentions d'accueil à l'arrivée. Le plus: l'emplacement de parking sous terrain privatif (avec toutefois une rampe d'accès traitre pour les jantes qui ont en effet souffert. Passée la 1e fois, on a choppé le coup, mais trop tard pour la jante). Le moins: séjour bruyant, fiesta de voisins du RDC le soir de notre arrivée à coup de décibels jusqu'à plus de 2h du matin, piano d'un autre RDC le dimanche matin (nettement plus doux) et en semaine, le pire: réveil matin en fanfare dès 8h jusqu'à environ 15-16h par les tonitruants ouvriers du chantier de ravalement longeant tout l'immeuble (leur poste de radio ouvert à fond posé sur nos rebords de fenêtres, les intervenants passant sur le balcon côté intérieur juste derrière nos fenêtres de chambre et entreposant leurs outils dessus...). Ravalement qui n'est pas le fait du propriétaire mais dont nous avons hélas appris l'existence non lors de la réservation, mais juste la veille de notre arrivée. Du coup nous avons vécu rideaux noirs tirés du matin au soir, sans lumière du jour, pour garder un semblant d'intimité et éviter à toute la poussière de chantier d'entrer. Le bilan: l'appartement est bien, sa situation pour visiter Lille est parfaite, le parking reste un atout indéniable malgré l'accès, le propriétaire est charmant. Dommage, vraiment, tout ce bruit pendant notre séjour, nous avions envie de visiter, et besoin de se reposer. Une autre fois, peut-être...

We thoroughly enjoyed our three day stay in this appartment. The location was ideal for exploring old Lille in a quiet neighbourhood within an easy stroll of the city. The biggest bonus was the included car parking space in the underground car park below. I admit to being sceptical at first as I have experienced several underground parking arrangements in France and usually they are only big enough for a Fiat 500. I was therefore surprised and delighted when my BMW X3 fitted easily - and I could get out! We would definitely stay here again.

Contente de cette location où nous avons passé trois nuits. L'appartement est lumineux, il y a tout le nécessaire pour votre séjour, même la petite épicerie (huile,sel,poivre...) Nous avons très bien dormi que ce soit dans le lit ou le canapé. Il est très bien placé, nous avons pu parcourir Lille à pied. Le plus : la place de parking.
