Beautiful balcony views

Love the neighborhood, very walkable to everything. A huge amount of restaurants, coffee, mini markets, right there. Try a poncha!

Top Location

Very difficult to fault this apartment in the beautiful Old town of Funchal. Great views, lovely hospitable host and so close to everything, whilst not being "in it"! Highly recommend.

The best property

Everything was perfect and the personal touches and welcome gifts were appreciated. The interior design was beautiful and everything we needed was provided. The balcony was wonderful for a glass of wine after a long day. Thanks so much Patricio and Lina

Perfect short stay

The apartment is cozy and very comfortable for a couple or even 3 people. The location is excellent being near restaurants, supermarkets and walking distance to any attraction in downtown Funchal. The owners are originally from the island and know it as no one. They are very friendly and helpful.

Central located appartment

Location very central in the old town. View from the balcony phantastic. Owner very friendly und support all the time. Unfortunately the location in the Santa Maria street (old town) is quite noisy- motorbikes all the night on one side and restaurant on the other side. If you are sensitive regarding noise it‘s not recommendable, if noise is not a problem for you the appartment is great, promenade, restaurants, cable car, etc. in short walking distance.

Great location & well equipped

This apartment is very well located and equipped, and very clean. The beds were comfortable. The owners have installed good windows which keep out sound, and blackout curtains to keep out the light if you need to sleep. However, you can also have a lovely breeze going through with the windows on both sides of the apt. when open. The terrace is a wonderful bonus, looking out to the sea. We also enjoyed the mountain views from the bedrooms, which change daily. The thoughtful welcome treats and extras were much appreciated. We hope to return.

Apartment in best area with great balcony & fab views

Apartment was exactly as described on site & was in the very best location in Funchal, overlooking the Sao Tiago Forte and only a couple of minutes walk to all restaurants, bars and character of Old Town Funchal. Unfortunately the 2 weeks we were there was the worst weather Madeira has had for years with rain, storms and high winds and, for most of our stay, we were unable to take advantage of the best feature of the apartment, the Sea Balcony. Lina was brilliant offering to pick up and drop us off at the airport and, when we had a couple of problems re the storms was very quick to respond and sort out any issues we had. The bed was very comfortable and everything we needed was catered for. If you want a cozy apartment in the middle of Old Town with great views of the ocean, harbour & Marina this is ideal.

Cozy with historic sea views

Apartment is at the quiet end of old town. It has a street and apartment entrance with a flight of stairs to second level. Quiet neighbors as well with a lovely deck overlooking an old fort/ restaurant and the sea facing south so lots of sun all day. Kitchen and apartment are spotless, bathroom has a double shower heads and a very comfortable bed. The deck has dining table with 4 chairs, swing chair and two loungers, we lived out there every night! Host provided lanterns with candles, tea lights, blankets and a cozy outdoor rug to stargaze or yoga! There are many restaurants right around the corner one that will serenade you with instrumental music… How perfect. Huge bowl of fruit, avacodo sand a beautiful bouquet of flowers were left for us, she made our stay very special. It really was very homey and we looked forward to returning each evening. She even has grocery cart on wheels for the market or your shopping. The thoughtful host did not miss any details. It was a fabulous experience and one of the best after traveling for 3 months through Spain and Portugal. Madeira wins!!

Schöne Wohnung mit toller Aussicht

Linas Wohnung befindet sich in Funchals renoviertem Hafenviertel, direkt hinter der Forteleza de Santiago. Die freundlich eingerichtete Wohnung im ersten Stock eines Altbaus hat zwei Schlafzimmer und einen Wohnbereich mit angrenzender großer Terrasse, die einen wunderbaren Blick auf die Festung und das Meer bietet. Einen besseren Platz zum Frühstücken gibt es in Funchal wahrscheinlich nicht. Lina und ihr Mann sind sehr hilfsbereit. An der Wohnung ist nichts auszusetzen, außer dass sie meistens ausgebucht ist.

Alles bestens

Eine sehr schöne Wohnung in bester Lage in der Altstadt mit Blick auf Meer und Hafen. Die Wohnung ist liebevoll eingerichtet, sauber und gut ausgestattet. Wir haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt und vor allem den großen Balkon sehr genossen. Hervorheben möchte ich die Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft der Vermieter. Wir wurden mit frischen Blumen, eotischen Früchten und Gebäck empfangen, am Ende zum Bus gebracht und sogar ein vergessenes Kabel wurde uns noch nachgeliefert. Die Wohnung ist uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen und falls wir wieder mal nach Madeira kommen, dann am liebsten wieder hierher. Danke Lina!

Very cozy apartment and great location in the old part of town

The hosts were very helpful and kind, and easy to reach when we had questions etc. They gave us recommendations on where to eat and where to go. We loved the balcony and the view. We could go swimming in the see only a couple of minutes walking away - in january :) The apartment is baby-friendly - we had a 7 months old baby with us. Patricio and Lena provided a baby-bed, sheets and a baby chair :) To be located down-town with walking distance to everything, is is very quiet around the apartment. However, in the weekends you can hear students and people on their way home from parties late nights / early mornings ... Use ear-plugs and you will be all right :) And - don't forget to buy bread and pasteries at the bakery in rue de santa maria - it tastes fantastic!!! We will absolutely rent this place when we visit Funchal again :)

Makes us feel that we are important to who welcome

Alojamento Local lindo, limpo e cuidado, faz-nos sentir que somos importantes para quem nos acolhe. Localização fabulosa, vistas para o mar, COMPLEXO BALNEAR DA BARREIRINHA a 200 m e com muita oferta de restaurantes e bares. Parque de estacionamento a 2,90 euros por dia e a 400 m. Beautiful apartment, clean and well care, makes us feel that we are important to who welcomes us. Fabulous location, ocean view, COMPLEX OF BATHING Barreirinha at 200 meters with a great offer of restaurants and bars. Parking at 2.90 euros per day at 400 meters.

Relaxing and very good location, 100 m from sea

I stayed for two weeks and found this apartment superbly located: it is in the in the old town, on the most picturesque street of Funchal (Rua de Santa Maria), close to charming restaurants and bistros, but still quiet, and most of all it is at less than 100 m from the sea. Two of Funchal's beaches are found at this walking distance from the apartment door. The vue is delightful: all that sea!... and the colour contrast of the yellow of São Tiago Fortress against the blue ocean... splendid! The apartment is cosy. Terrace is comfortably furnished. Bedrooms are not large, but you will not want to spend your daytime or evening in the bedroom with such a wonderful terrace. Living room is comfortable. Wi-fi is available, which enables you to be connected if you want to. Kitchen is fitted with all cooking utensils including for oven and soup (but there is no dishwasher). Bedrooms are well fitted with wardrobe and chest of drawers. And a good reading light!!! The street is calm, there is no noise disturbance (maybe an occasionaly live music concert for free from the terrace, but I didn't find it upsetting, on the contrary, and I am very disturbed by noise). The bathroom has natural light from the ceiling which I found pleasing. Hosts are welcoming and helpful. Touristic information is available on the living room. Guided tours and guided levada walks departures have nearby departure points, so I found no need to rent a car to visit Madeira island. Convenience store is very very close and presents a nice variety of food and other items; the big supermarket is a bit further away, but still at walking distance. I cooked most meals and I found Madeiras' fruits and vegetables amazingly tasty!!! I advise you to go to the nearby traditional market and taste it yourself! Fresh fish and meat are also very tasty. To summarise, if you enjoy sea, light and a relaxing terrace as much as I do, and be able to walk your way around, you will enjoy this home for your holidays.

Highly recommended!

A very convenient flat located in the vibrant and trendy “new” Old Town, in a charming neighborhood. From the private front balcony, open to the stars in front of the living room, you can enjoy the picturesque view of Forte Sao Tiago and the harbor. From the bedrooms balconies you can see up towards Monte and the mountains, as well as to the western parts of Funchal. The hosts are very communicative and accommodating. I'll continue to come back!

adorei este apartamento. é de facto muito bom, não só pela localização, como pela maravilhosa vista que se disfruta da varada. A casa estava muito limpa e tinha tudo o que é essencial para passar uns dias de férias maravilhosos. Sempre que vá ao Funchal irei ficar aqui neste apartamento.

Fantastisches Apartment im Herzen von Funchal

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt im Balkony Apartment, das keine Wünsche offen ließ! Die Begrüßung war sehr nett und zuvorkommend, die Kommunikation zum Check-In war unkompliziert. Die Wohnung hat alles, was man braucht und liegt zentral direkt in Funchal, am etwas ruhigeren Ende der Rue Santa Maria. Die Terrasse ist ein Traum mit Blick auf das Meer und das Fort von Funchal. Das Fort ist leider recht lang beleuchtet, mit ein paar Handtüchern als Sichtschutz kann man sich abends aber gut selbst helfen. Wir haben eine Nacht sogar am Balkon geschlafen, es war wundervoll! Vielen Dank an Patricio und Lina, dass sie diese tolle Unterkunft mit anderen Menschen teilen!

Hier stimmt alles!

Wir waren schon mehrmals hier und genießen es immer wieder. Dieses Jahr wurden wir angenehm überrascht von dem neu renovierten tollen Bad und auch das neue Bett ist die absolute Spitze! Wir kommen gerne wieder!!! Lina ist eine super Gastgeberin, sehr einfühlsam und nett, hier stimmen auch die Kleinigkeiten. Vielen Dank!!!

Perfect location

This place was minutes away from all the good restaurants in Old Town. It was spotlessly clean and had great views out to the sea. Lina, our host met us at the apartment and explained everything to us and recommended certain restaurants. We will hopefully return.
