About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)
This unique open plan home has wonderful ocean views from all rooms with the exception of the laundry, master bath, and half bath. The home was built in 2004, is 2000 square feet, has 2 fireplaces and a hot tub. The upper story has seven large picture windows that look out on to the Pacific ocean. Whales are often seen as well as fishing boats and paragliders who launch from the Cape. Deer are often seen crossing the dune between the house and ocean, along with a wide variety of birds. The hike/walk on the semi-private paths to the beach or Cape is less than ten minutes, but does require hiking up and down some dunes.
One of the greatest benefits of the home is that you will have unobstructed views of the ocean as the sun sets. Yes, the summer, spring and fall sun sinks directly into the ocean out your windows.
Note: We no longer rent to groups of 8 adults.

Brian is a software developer who grew up in the Pacific Northwest. Gloria works in finance and grew up in Cornwall, England. We have a Boxer named Zoe who wishes she could spend every day at the house on the Cape. Brian and Glo purchased this house from Herb and Bev in January of 2011.

Why Owner chose Pacific City
Cape Kiwanda is a special place. The ocean views and wildlife are like nowhere else. Pacific City is also a great little town. The energy is good there.
What makes this House unique
We enjoy watching wildlife from the house, especially the whales and birds. Hiking the cape and walking the beaches with our dog is part of the daily routine. Enjoying a pint of IPA from the patio of the Pelican pub on a sunny day is also a favorite.

As always, a terrific stay...restorative and beautiful. Thank you.
This place is amazing.
We love staying here. It’s beautiful clean and peaceful.
The BEST location!!
My husband and I just stayed here for 4 nights over spring break with my 76-yr-old mom and our two teenage kids. The master on the same floor with the kitchen and living space was perfect for my mom because she's not so great at stairs (ground floor is locked garage, next level is laundry and two bedrooms with Jack-and-Jill bathroom, top level is master suite, kitchen, 1/2 bath, and living area). The view was gorgeous, and we saw lots and lots and lots of whales. The binoculars at the house were great plus we brought a pair of our own. I actually think that the trees made the view better -- to see them silhouetted against the sunset was magical (from the hot tub and from EVERY room). We loved this view!!!
The house was really clean but didn't seem artificially sterile. We felt very comfortable there. It was modern yet welcoming. We cook a lot; the kitchen was well equipped. Even I was impressed by the high-tech refrigerator and water dispenser (sounds stupid, but it's true. And I don't usually care about those things).
Our family of four is athletic, so having to go up and down dunes to reach the beach was a blast. We had so much fun running and leaping down the dunes and got our hearts pounding climbing to the tippy top again and again. Our son loved all the sea creatures on the rocks on the south side of the big dune. I took some lovely photos of patterns in the sand on a walk to the north. We had never been to this area of the coast before and feel SO lucky to have found this place. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!
Wonderful Home Beautiful View
This is an amazingly spacious home with everything you could possibly want in a vacation rental. The owners have outdone themselves in making this a comfortable place to stay.
The house is amazing, clean and well stocked. The hike to the beach is difficult.
We loved the house and the view. The hot tub was much needed after hiking to the beach twice a day. We wish we would have known we could build a fire behind the house on the dune or on the beach. The second floor remains freezing cold regardless of temperature on upper level, glad we brought heating blankets. Washer and dryer appreciated very much. Well stocked house! Frig had lots of expired food in it from past guests. The hike to the beach is under-stated and under-estimated. I am 43 and in pretty good shape and it was tiring and long. Went to relax and I got a workout, which is fine but if I had any leg, knee, foot or ankle injuries or sensitivity there is no way I could have done any trail to the beach. The 14 and 18 year olds didnt mind as much. While it was beautiful and peaceful and fulfilling, we wouldn't stay again because of the beach access. The beach below the house is private and beautiful. Lots to do and explore at low tide and the Cape and Dune and Rock are delightful and full of adventures and creatures. We love Pacific City.
Outstanding property. The view is excellent.
The property is well kept and fully stocked with everything you should need. The owner is very efficient in providing all the necessary information in a timely fashion. The hike to the beach is not for the faint of heart, but 1/2 mile to the south is a nice flat beach (and a brew pub) and about a mile north is access to the beach and it is permissible to drive on the beach. Couldn't have been happier with our stay and plan to come back.
