Shocking way to treat people

We booked in good faith to stay here months in advance - paying in full. Having heard nothing from the owner a couple of days before our scheduled stay, we tried a few times to get in touch. When they eventually responded it was to tell us that our booking wasn’t valid and they had rented it out to someone else. This was despite having had our reservation confirmed and a big shiny green “booked” tag showing on our booking. We then had to find somewhere else to stay with less than 24 hours to go before our ship was due to sail us to France. Do not trust this owner. They obviously go with whoever pays more even if they’ve already confirmed your booking. Disgraceful and the support we received from VRBO was woeful and we will not be trusting them with our holidays in future. We now are fighting to get our money back and have not heard anything after nearly a week. We had to pay in full for the replacement property and so are now badly out of pocket.
