The White River Cabin

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,500 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

If you are looking at a very unique property, this is it!

We designed this cabin for relaxing and getting away. The house is nicely furnished with all the amenities you would have at home, but in a natural setting. The views from the living room, master bedroom, screened porch, deck, and loft are all breathtaking. There is a 300 foot bluff across the river with a train track at the base. You can fish, swim, or just relax in the White River, which is right in the backyard. The river is a low water river most of the year and is nice and cold, perfect during the hot summer months. We have built a fire pit with firewood for those campfire type of evenings. The property has a 1 acre area out front that is perfect for a football or baseball game.

We have looked at several places to stay in the Mountain View area and found something we thought was missing. Most of the properties in the area are very rustic with little amenities. We wanted to combine the rustic feature with today's amenities, including features like internet and stainless steel appliances. There are several activities to do in the area that mostly have to do with the outdoors in the Ozarks. You can listen to bluegrass in town square, shop for antiques at the stores, or enjoy one of the many restaurants in the area. There are several guide services for fishing, horseback riding, canoeing, or hike in the national forest.

The Ozark folk center is within 8 miles of the cabin and Blanchard Springs Caverns are about 20 minutes away. There are an abundance of activities to do, and you can have fun knowing that you have an incomparable and comfortable cabin to come home to.

About Brant Barnes or Heath Stanley

We live in Fayetteville, AR and have always found Mtn. View an awesome place to get away. I was born and raised in Mtn. Home, AR an hour north of there. I am involved in several different businesses in the mid-south area. As a family we enjoy the mountains and the beach. We also have a 2 bedroom condo on the beach in Destin, FL. We enjoy watching other families enjoy the same places we do!

Brant Barnes or Heath Stanley purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Brant Barnes or Heath Stanley chose Arkansas

We decided to build this cabin/house because it would be unique to the area. It has a rustic exterior, with a modern and comfortable interior and is located right on the White River. We originally bought the lots down on the river because of it's beauty. We always knew that nature can't be re-created. When you get an opportunity to buy something truly unique, jump on it. Although it is very secluded and peaceful, we wanted to have modern amenities like Jenn-Aire appliances, flat screen tv for football, and upscale furnishings. We wanted access to the internet so that we could stay there longer periods while staying in touch. I can get my work done in the mornings and then go enjoy nature the rest of they day!!

What makes this cabin unique

Since our cabin is located right on the White River, you never need to leave the property once you arrive. You can float, swim and fish on site, enjoying the quiet mountain views and wildlife.

There is an Arkansas Game and Fish put in close as well. We are 15-20 minutes to Walmart, but still in the middle of nowhere. There is also a 400 ft. bluff across the river with a train at the base. The C-130's from Jacksonville Air Force Base fly by on low altitude training runs. Overall just an awesome place!

Our cabin also has satellite tv and internet.

Secluded cabin

  • 2 of 5

The cabin is nice. The bedroom with the king bed and the one with the queen are both on the second floor and share a bathroom. The other bathroom is downstairs. We called the owner upon our arrival because the satellite did not work. They never bothered to return our call. The location is very secluded so try to get there before dark or you will have a difficult time finding it. Upstairs room had wasps with a note on the window stating they were there. Funny, a can of wasp spray purchased the next day took care of them. Underbrush blocked the view of river from the cabin. Would be pretty if that were cut as I noticed other reviews stated the same thing.

Steep access to river...comfortable accommodations

  • 4 of 5

The Brants were very pleasant and easy to work with. The property was a little more back-woodsy than we had anticipated but once we got down the dirt road to the house we had a very enjoyable stay. The bathrooms are very small and narrow and you do need to bring your own toiletries! The river access is rather steep but we learned how to navigate it so we could make it down to the river without slipping and sliding into the icy water uncontrollably. 😁 We absolutely loved the kitchen and living room accommodations...very homey and relaxing!!! The river was the best part... just so peaceful and calm!

Beautiful and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our weekend at the White River Cabin! It is very quiet and peaceful. I loved the fact that though their are neighbors close by, it is still secluded.

the white cabin is a great vacation spot! Very private location just 9 miles from town!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great for everybody in the family! Wi-fi and dish for kids and plenty of wildlife. We had a family of deer that visited every afternoon and morning visits from a very friendly squirrel, plenty of rabbits and an occasional roadrunner! The location was just 10 to 16 miles from everything you could want to do. We would love to return in the fall.

We had a great time, the house is very nice and comfortable, the property and location were great

  • 3 of 5

but the river access and view were very disappointing. The path to the river was very steep and slippery and there was very little river bank. The trees and underbrush were also very grown up and blocked most of the view of the river from the house and the back yard and the underbrush was full of poison ivy. Because of this it was impossible to enjoy the view while having a cup of coffee in the back yard. That's important to me so I was very disappointed. You could hear the train when it came by but couldn't see anything. Of course, it rained for three days after we arrived which made the river access even worse. The gravel road leading to the house is in pretty bad shape and became worse after the rain. The 9 mile trip to the main road took about 30 minutes due to the condition of the road. The kitchen is great and well equipped, the beds were comfortable and the front yard is nice and well kept. We saw deer every morning and evening and watching the fog in the mornings and afternoon over the ridges in front was very nice. The wifi hardly ever worked; there was no signal for AT&T and a very weak one for Verizon. Overall we had a good experience but better river access and a view of the river would have made it much better!

Summer 2017 First Timers

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Didn't have any luck catching fish though. The cabin was nice and peaceful. In the mornings the river was low a few of the days so we were able to walk out in it and fish and wade in the cool green waters. We even took our dog out on the river bottom rocky bank and sand. The last few days we were there the river was high all day and we didn't get out in it since we didn't have a boat, kayak or canoe with us. Loved having the shady back yard too. The deck is in need of repair but overall our stay was enjoyable. Blanchard Springs Caverns was a hit! Not too far away for some fun down below!
