This our second time staying at Peggy's place and both times it has worked out perfectly!! We were in town to visit with our 96 year grandmother and we threw a little get together for her at the house. We are so grateful to find somewhere to be able to do that sort of thing. So much more comfortable than staying in a hotel...and with so much more to offer! Peggy is always reachable by text (easy) and here's the best part...the house comes with Netflix!!!
Hidden gem on Lake Herman
What a great location and set up on Lake Herman!! We had a small family reunion with ages from 6 mos to my mother who is 91 and all ages in between. Could not have asked for a better spot!! Peggy and Rich, the owners, were so welcoming and helpful. The property has everything and more you could ask for! We prepared almost every meal there for 4 days for the family. So much fun around the fire pit at night. They have truly thought of everything to make your stay there unforgettable. So many fantastic memories were made during our perfect stay. Even the darling golden Daisy from next door came for a visit. Wonderful family vacation spot with lots of room for everyone!!
It's only a few miles to town if you need groceries and on a beautiful lake setting where you can hear the cows moo! It truly has it all
We ran out of time but they offer the use of a kayak, paddle boat, pontoon, fishing poles, and other various yard activities. The wind can be an issue but sure didn't bother us! We hope to make it an annual vacation spot.
Very happy here!
Stayed here for three nights and it was just as the information said. We got there on a Thursday afternoon and the day was beautiful. Then came Friday with extreme winds and very hard to enjoy the beach. Got lucky with Saturday and spent the day at the little beach area, fishing, paddle boating, kayaking and had a bonfire that night. When we went to leave, on Sunday, the owner said, as she did not have anyone coming in that day, that we could stay longer and enjoy the beach since we had the one windy day. Very nice of her! We will definitely stay here again! Thanks so much.
Flexible and fair
we originally chatted with owners regarding renting this summer for a family reunion. Peggy was gracious and responsive. Unfortunately, we had to cancel. They were very receptive to returning our deposit. It is a popular cabin and will rent quickly for 2016.
The owner was quite friendly and helpful. The garage house is in nice shape. However....in a house advertised for 12 people, THERE IS NO RANGE which is not obvious in the web listing. Tough to cook for 2 people, let alone 12 on hot plates and a microwave. Also, there is no dining room table....only two card tables and chairs. The only permanent dining seating is two barstools at a bar. The Wifi was slower than dial up. Only 6-8 drinking glasses in the whole house for 12 guests. Hotel size refrigerator. The TV was very small and not visable from the living room couches...only from two very comfortable lounge chairs. Guess the other 10 guests are supposed to sit on the floor.
Other than these very odd items, the house itself is quite nice. Large yard, dock, firepit, right on the lake. The pictures are a bit deceiving though. The "cabin" is really a living unit built with a garage that is attached to the owners house. Not private at all.
So why is this place the way it is....the welcome book says it best. The "cabin" was built to provide extra sleeping quarters for the owners family and for that purpose, it is great. As a stand alone rental, it lacks many of the basic things one would expect and not even think to ask about. I don't discourage you from renting this "cabin", however, I think it appropriate for you to understand what you will find upon arrival.
Our property is set up primarily for summer usage and therefore using the lake and outdoor space which includes a private patio, large yard and beach area. This additional space has numerous chairs and picnic table for larger groups. We do not have a conventional stove and don't claim to have one, however there is a large gas grill with a side burner which most renters enjoy using. There are more cooking appliances than just a hot plate and microwave. These would include an electric roaster, toaster oven, crock pot, electric frying pan, griddle, stove top grill and George foreman grill. There is also a coffee pot, toaster, blender and mixer for guest use. The refrigerator in the unit is small, however there is a full size refrigerator in the garage as indicated on the website. We are using the most up to date WiFi available in our rural location, and unfortunately, we have no control over it's speed. Our current television is a 32" wall mounted flat screen but we have plans to upsize to a larger screen for the 2015 season. The house is located on the owners home property, but not attached to the house as reviewer has indicated. The majority of our renters are here to enjoy the lake and all the peace and quiet and we try to do our best to make their stay an enjoyable one.
We recently completed a 10 day stay at this property. The place is simply outstanding in every way. Excellent service form the property owners. A beautiful setting on the shores of Lake Herman. The cabin was modern and comfortable and all of the amenities were as described in the listing. The people were very pleasant and provided us with everything we needed as well. This would be an excellent summer vacation destination or simply a fantastic and relaxing break from everyday life. Cannot recommend it highly enough! Thanks for a great time!
Located within 2 miles of historic Prairie Village and the Lake Herman State Park. We welcome motorcyclists and we're located just a short distance from US Highway 34, the gateway to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
