Modern and industrial studio apartment in a newly renovated building in the heart of downtown Effingham. Has everything you need for short or longer stays. 

Located above Wheat Penny, a speakeasy bar, and within steps of some of Efffingham's best restaurants and shopping. Come for a night out on the town or a week of work! 

Sleeps four with 1 queen bed and a queen pullout couch. Desk and high speed Internet for anyone who needs to keep hustling while they travel. Pack N Play available upon request. 

Area and building are super safe both day and night with key-fob access. 

**BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS: Our lofts are located above a shared office (coworking) space in downtown Effingham, ask us about an office pass when you stay with us! Parking lot located in the back just steps from the door. 

Someone will be available to you via phone and in person as necessary during your stay. Let us know how we can help! 

Very walkable downtown loaded with shops, eats, and good times! Most transportation in Effingham is done via walking or driving, but very driver and walker friendly! This is an old building with no elevator so make sure you're comfortable and able to take the stairs to the second floor.

Place was as described,very well done…you can feel the history with the brick walls and high ceiling… lots of places walking distance to explore… Parking was crowded,but I attribute that to it being prom night and Kentucky Derby day… a great time

The studio was awesome ! Check in process was so very easy . The studio was so beautiful, the furniture was gorgeous , loved the set up . Appreciated the welcome basket , especially the advil . Had every kind of cooking appliance you could ever need to make meals . The wheat Penny is a place everyone needs to visit during your stay You will love it . Jacob our bartender was the best . Highly recommend this unit to stay in .

Location Location

This was the perfect location for my husband and I to stay and do all the things we wanted to. Everything was just a short 3-7min drive away ot a short walk.

This is the place to stay in Effingham

My wife, daughter, and I stayed here for three nights. This place was perfect for us. We were pretty busy meeting with family and friends during the day so this place was a cozy and very comfortable place to relax and rest. It had great places around it to eat and have drinks. Definitely recommend.

All you need in Effingham

Our stay at XCHNG was delightful. Just as described and as pictured. Loved being right downtown. Great host recommendations for dining. So much more character and genuine experience than a hotel chain offers. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice downtown location

We really enjoyed the location of this rental. It was a safe area with lots of nice restaurants and shops all within walking distance. Folks in town were friendly. Studio loft was just right for the two of us. Had everything you need for a short stay. Can’t beat the price and location compared to the hotels based on what you get here. Would definitely stay again

The studio was really neat and tidy. Very clean. The host was excellent. I accidentally showed up early and the host was onsite and actually came and talked to me and couldn't have been nicer. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will definitely be staying here again whenever I'm in town. Highly recommend!

Fabulous place to meet old friend

The loft Studio was perfect. Met an old friend she was coming 3 hours from East & M 3 hours from West, perfect gathering spot. the Loft was amazing and walking distance to fun restaurants and shops. Our Host Megan was wonderful.Thank you so much!! We will be back .The Wheat Penny in the basement was also amazing.

We had to be out of our home unexpectedly with 2 dogs with short notice. We were lucky to find a place close to home that would accomodate our pets. We had trouble with the heat and the host was very responsive and helpful and even offered to move us if we continued to have problems.

Hi, I'm Michael. I'm a husband and a father to my beautiful wife and baby girl, an adventurer, and an entrepreneur. We grew up in rural Illinois and now live in Teutopolis, which is a small town next to Effingham. I am deeply passionate about our hometown and the surrounding areas and love to share it with other people. We have incredible people here! As a frequent traveler, I've stayed in more hotels than I care to remember. I started looking for a way to share an authentic experience with people and decided to combine my affinity for hospitality, design, and our town. This location in Effingham doesn't get any better and we pay close attention to every detail to help you have the best stay possible.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

This building is so cool! It is a old bank built in 1890 that we renovated in 2020. It was our goal to let the history and stories of the old building show through in our re-design and we love the rugged brick and high beamed ceilings. We named it the XCHNG since it was once an "Exchange" of goods and currency, and now it is being utilized as an "Exchange" of ideas, culture, creativity, and authenticity. On the first floor we operate a co-working (community office) space by day, small event venue on the weekends, and are currently in planning stages for a basement bar.
