Hidden gem in Falmouth!
Fantastic stay at this property - a real hidden gem at a peaceful location but so convenient for the Falmouth town centre. Unbeatable views over the water, property was well kept, spacious and comfortable. Parking spot absolute bonus undercover. Owner very prompt in answering questions. Would not hesitate in recommending or staying here again.
Couldn’t have asked for more!
I guess the obvious thing to say is “wow, that view!” The property itself was very clean and welcoming. The kitchen was very well equipped - including a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine, as well as oven, hob and washing machine. The shower was very efficient and the towels super soft. The bed was extremely comfortable, with plenty of room! We loved the retro decor, furniture and crockery and the artwork was fab too! Jo really has thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible We made use of the music system lots, which easily connected to our devices via Bluetooth, when we chose to stay in during bad weather and watch the stormy sea and skies from the two very comfortable chairs in the window!! The apartment is very roomy, bright and airy - and warm too (as we stayed during February!) There are also some DVD’s and games to while away the time if the weather is bad. It rained on a few occasions during our stay, but it really did not matter as we happily sat in front of the window and really did feel at home. The welcome gifts of Prosecco and fresh flowers were such a thoughtful gesture, and there was also milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits too!!
It’s a pleasant walk into town from the apartment, which has plenty going on with numerous places to eat and drink! If you like gin then you simply MUST visit Dolly’s tearoom and Gin Palace - with over 315 gins to choose from!!! The fish and chips from Harbour Lights gave us a tasty dinner on more than one occasion, and we enjoyed a good lunch and refreshments at The Grapes Ale House and Kitchen too!!
A nice walk can be had following the path along the coast to Swanpool. There is a restaurant there called “Hooked on the rocks” which we visited, and can imagine it being very lovely in the summer.
All in all we had a fabulous time in Falmouth and would definitely return.
Jo was the perfect host and we really can not recommend this property enough. Thanks Jo and John 😊
Great location Everything we needed was in the flat. Very helpful owner.
It was a comfortable apartment with a wonderful view.
Lovely apartment in a great location
The apartment was in a great location with lovely views, the town centre with a host of shops, bars and restaurants is only a 10 minute walk. The apartment itself is very well equipped and has the added bonus of a covered parking space.
All in all it is a perfect place to stay to discover Cornwall and all of its attractions.
About Jo Lay
John and I both grew up in Cornwall, we know and love the county and all that it has to offer. Our children attend school locally and we take an active part in our community so are well placed to discuss areas of interest and things to do nearby. John has had a property business in Falmouth for over 25 years and I work as an artist and teacher. We also have holiday cottage in Godolphin Cross, Helston which is decorated in a vintage style with mis-matched china and has a very pretty garden with stream and lots of bird life. If you would prefer a cosy retreat that accepts dogs this might be the place for you.
Jo Lay purchased this Apartment in 2003
Why Jo Lay chose Falmouth
We bought the apartment many years ago because of its unbeatable position and views. We enjoy using it ourselves and are uplifted and excited whenever we visit.
What makes this Apartment unique
Fabulous front row position, away from the busier section of the seafront, set up high enough to afford a wonderful view with considerable privacy. Castle Beach and the sea is a few seconds away and a nearby footpath takes you on a glorious walk to Pendents Point and the English Heritage Site and grounds of Henry VIII's Historic Castle and fortification. A walk along the seafront joins the SW coastal path, passing Gyllyngvase, Swanpool and Maenporth beaches en route to the wonderful Helford River. The closeness of Falmouth town and harbour means all is accessible on foot. Falmouth Docks train station (5 mins walk) gives easy access to Penryn and mainline Truro, from where day trips to Penzance and St Ives etc, are great fun.
