Peaceful and relaxing retreat just minutes from many attractions

Good sized living space with everything you need to stay. Beds really comfortable as were pillows.Very bright and airy with 3 sitting patios, 2 looking out to the beautiful gardens and meadows.Marcia and Gerard were wonderful hosts. We highly recommend their VRBO

A restful oasis - in the country but close to the city

We spent four nights in the Olive Grove cottage. It made a great base for our stay - it's only a short drive to major shops, but when you get back you can relax with views out to the gardens and olive grove. Marcia was a great host, very responsive (and we loved the fruit!).

Luxurious living

Very spacious with all the amenities we needed. Close to Christchurch city centre. Large section for morning walk. Love to come back. Lovely host.

Country Stay

We enjoyed our stay for 12 nights. It is a quiet location close to Christchurch and within a short drive to the Port Hills for walks, Halswell Quarry walks, Orana Wildlife Park, Willowbank Wild Life Reserve, etc, etc. All great places for families seeking outdoor activities not too far from the stay. You can enjoy just relaxing at the very clean facilities, a short walk through the olive gove or play tennis. A very enjoyable place to stay.

Quiet slice of paradis

The Owners of this property had excellent communication skills. ALthough this property is older it has double glazing to ensure you have a peaceful stay. It has the Owners house nearby however it is set up in such a way that you have your own private seating areas. Black out curtains, a comfortable bed with excellent pillows and a large area to stroll around close to the city and yet it appears a long way away, make this property ideal.

Country Outlook

Lovely comfortable accommodation with gardens, tennis court and a small lake. Plenty of room indoors and with outdoor areas to relax and catch up with family. Hosts were available if required but kept to themselves. We had a car and found it close to, or easy to access, everything we needed or wanted to visit.

Comfortable country cottage in rural location

We enjoyed our short stay, we had a go on the tennis court which our daughter and I enjoyed. It was quiet and cosy and had everything you could need for a restful stay.

A little hidden paradise

Just what the dr ordered, rest, relaxation, peace and quiet. Such lovely surroundings and the owners nearby if we needed them. Felt very secure and private.

Gerard & Marcia are the property owners who live in the Main house at La-Fontaine Olive Grove. They planted over 1000 Italian & Spanish Variety Olive Trees in the year 2000. All the Gardens landscaping Tennis court Pond have been developed by them. They are former Moteliers, Commercial Deer Farmers, Gold Mining Operators & 1st Publicans of Haast Hotel (1970 Martini family owned builders & licensees) They also manage the extended Martini owned Kumara Goldminers Heritage Cottages 1876 on the West Coast South Island. Available for rent along with Whitebaiters Cottage in Kumara. Our Olive Grove Cottage in Christchurch is our special place for relaxation.
