Hervé was an extremely good host who made us feel welcome. Many thanks, Hervé. The property is well laid out and comfortable. We loved the hot tub and the proximity to Belgium. We hadn't planned to, but traveled there several times. It's a great base for traveling to sites relating to WW1,as well as cities such as Lille and Ghent, which are both well worth visiting. Overall, we would highly recommend it.
This is a very lovely place. The host is very kind and helpful. Nice and clean accommodation, even with fireplace :) I rate this place with the highest possible grade and thank you, Mr. Herve, for your service :)
This is a lovely property with a very accommodating host. It is also very good value for your travel dollars. This is the second time we have booked this place, and the next time we are in Northern France we would hope to stay here again.
One of the best placed we have ever stayed. Beautifully decorated, with interesting historical relics and the spa tub was magical. Everything is brilliant, we recommend it very highly!
We really enjoyed this quiet place, which was very relaxing and easy to access.

This place really makes you feel welcome and at home, is really confortable and cosy!
Very clean and has everything you need if you wish to prepare some food.
The location is great! We went Burgess, Anterwerp, Brussels, Gante and we even managed to go Netherlands !
Strongly recommend staying at this place and we go back again if we need without a doubt
Herve is friendly and very helpful
We had an amazing time
Hervé couldn't have been more helpful. The accommodation was perfect for our visit of the surrounding battlefields. Would certainly recommend it.Thank you for a great break.
We are Canadians coming to the area for the Armistice observance in Ypres, and also to visit Mons, Ghent and Bruges. We found the location very convenient to visit these places. As well, the cottage was well-equipped and comfortable, with excellent parking. Additionally, the host was very quick to respond when we had questions, and met us punctually when we arrived. We couldn’t have asked for more.
We really enjoyed our stay with Herve in the Old Forge in Comines.
The property has been done up really nicely, full of authentic, quirky details, with the hanging chairs being a real favourite and the hot tub providing a great way to relax at the end of a long day sightseeing.
Location wise Comines is a great base for exploring the surrounding areas and even the beach is easy to get to within an hour.
We also couldn't have asked for a better host in Herve, who made us feel welcome even before we got there and was available if needed.
Thanks for a lovely stay.
This is a quirky property, converted from a forge. Everything needed is there and the fitments are good quality. The conversion makes this a really interesting place to stay as a base. The split town means that you can walk into Belgium in 15 minuites. Ypres and the battlefield sits are within half an hour.
The host is excellent!!!
Three of us stayed here for the week, husband, wife and 21 year old daughter. Herve was there to meet us and show us around the apartment. It had everything we needed and more. The outdoor area was great, the hammock and bbq were well used. Very peaceful, a good base for exploring France and Belgium. Went to WW1 memorials, the beach, Lille. Brugge and of course Comines. We also nipped into the Netherlands.
The beds were comfortable and all the the amenities worked well. The hot tub was perfect and easy to use.
Herve was a great host.
We arrived at the accomidation and we were early, however Herves wife let us in.
The accomidstion was a little gem, which was behind there.own property. Everything match the pictures and was far better in reality.
We were thete to visits the sites of the wars and it definately was on a direct route into everywhere.
If you want to atay somwhere that is typically french, this would definately be a good option, quaint, qwerky and in our opinion absaloutly. Gorgeous.
The owners were as helpful as they could be, even with a language barrier.
We will definately stay there again.
Thankyou.
Herve's property was very comfortable. We only had a short stay but I really wished we'd stayed longer.
The bicycles were our son's favourite thing and he was quite pleased to be able to tell his friends he cycled from France to Belgium even though it took us about 10 minutes. There were enough bicycles for me to join him on his exploration of the nearby area including the quiet farmlands which we enjoyed.
We were able to see Flanders and the World War 1 trenches and museum.
The food around the area was excellent, especially the cheese.
Across the river bridge we cycled into Belgium and found a large park that was great to cycle around.
We made good use of the hot tub and we were in it everyday and missed it when we left.
We were are also able to have a BBQ with everything already supplied in the back garden and beers in the hot tub after dinner, which was awesome and very relaxing.
The property itself was incredibly interesting and it was fun to find out that it was previously a forge.
We had a great time and we would definitely recommend for a relaxing break.

Lovely Cottage but surrounds untidy
We arrived the property manager was waiting for us with a friendly welcome. Unfortunately the first impressions were not good as you have to go through the what we assume was the garage doors. They were very tired and in need of some heavy TLC. Not good kerb side appeal.
We went though the garage and out the other side the cottage was in the grounds of the original house. The cottage was fine and well kept however when we asked about the second bathroom it was not ready at all as he didn't think we were going to use it. Why? we hired a 2 bedroom and two bathroom cottage. We then asked where was the BBQ advertised he was a little vague then pointed to an area that had rubble piled on the ground with an old metal table very untidy.
In the middle was the BBQ not cleaned from the last user and in a very poor state. We mentioned this and he said when you light it that will burn off I don't think so, I cleaned it, used it , cleaned it again and left it in a clean state for the next visitor. The area was like a small building site shame really.
The top of the garden was covered in leaves and the covered area had broken furniture. The garden plastic chairs 3 had cracks in the back not that safe to use, not very tidy a theme for the outdoor space. We found the garden vacuum and cleaned that area. When we couldn't fine the ice maker it was in the main house. This was returned to us. As for the dog friendly but bark bark Bark Summing up great cottage grounds poorly kept
