About this property
Craig Lake Cottage - Lakefront, with pontoon rental available, on 7 lake chain.
Our 1700 sq ft open concept cottage recently received a complete renovation. It has all new flooring, new quartz countertops and faucets in the kitchen and bathrooms, new paint throughout, nearly all new beds and many other improvements. All of our cookware is new or like new condition. All of our bed linens and house/swim towels are new or like new condition. Our cottage is fresh and CLEAN and organized for your arrival. All pictures are 100% accurate to the home and property. We try very hard to make your stay as relaxing as possible by making sure the cottage has everything you need and is in good working order.
Please read the reviews of our cottage from recent renters and going back the full 4 years since we started the vacation rental.
In 2022 we completely rebuilt our lake side deck with new composite decking and added a roof over it. The covered deck/ porch is 16ft x 32ft with lots of relaxing space and a full dining area over looking the lake. We also added a "whole home" Generac natural gas generator so that the entire cottage never loses power, AC or internet during storms. New pictures have been added.
We have 1 pontoon boat that can be rented daily or weekly. The boat is a 2021 Bennington 20ft with a 50hp engine with seating capacity for 10. The boat runs and looks like new condition. Pictures are shown and a price rate sheet can be sent per request. You can also bring your own fishing /ski/ pontoon boat or JetSkis and park them at our dock during your stay. Plenty of onsite parking for a boat trailer(s) if needed.
Our lake front has 100ft of water frontage facing East across Craig Lake for fantastic sunrises and protection from the hot summer sun in the afternoon and evening under the cover deck and when the sun sets behind the house. There is a new 30ft dock that is great for swimming or fishing off of. A large lakeside yard to play games, stretch out in the sun or for bonfires overlooking the lake. Our large lakeside deck/covered porch has a large 4 burner propane grill, dining table with 6chairs, 1 high top table with 2 tall bar stools; lounge area with patio couch, 2 large comfy chairs and a full size refrigerator. The entire deck/porch area is now covered with a metal roof and ceiling fan where you watch the sunrise while enjoying your morning coffee, but it is all shade by about 1pm when it starts to get hot. The roof also allows you to stay outside and enjoy the deck during light to moderate rain. There are 5 kayaks, 1 standup paddle board, and several water floaties for use in the shed, SOME life jackets and 2 adult sized bicycles included in the cottage rental cost. There are several yard games in the shed as well (corn hole set, Kube, bocce ball set, some others). See the shed pics.
Inside the cottage is an open concept ranch style layout with plenty of room to settle in and stretch out. There are 2 living room areas with couches and TV's in each. A very well supplied kitchen with lots of counter space, an island and large breakfast bar counter area are next to the dining room. The dining room table seats 6-8 with 4 more seats at the breakfast bar right next to it. There is a sliding glass door going to the covered deck from the dining room and another deck access door off of the kitchen. Good views of the yard and lake from inside the house!
The master bedroom has a king bed with master bath ensuite and walk in closet. There is a desk/office space in the MBR for those who need a private office for a work-cation stay or occasional Zoom meeting and work duties. Our 2nd BR has a queen bed with full size closet and a dresser. The 3rd BR has 2 full sized beds and a dresser. There are also 2 fold out sleeper couches - 1 in each of the living room areas. We will supply some starter toilet paper, paper towels, basic soaps and some light cleaning supplies to get you started. But you should bring, or buy locally, everything you need for your stay as we do not replenish any consumables. Swim/bath towels, bed linens, pillows, blankets, etc. are supplied.
We have SOME life jackets of various sizes for use, but to be sure there are enough of the correct size for each person in your party is recommended that you bring all of your own life jackets or risk not having what you need from our collection. You can ask what we have just prior to your arrival.
Craig Lake is 1 of 7 lakes in the "North Chain" of lakes in Branch County. All lakes in this chain are "all sports lakes" (fishing and water skiing/ tubing allowed). There are apprx. 11miles of waterway from the River Rd bridge back through the chain of lakes and channels to where the Coldwater and Sauk Rivers feed into South Lake/ Messenger Lake area. All of this waterway is navigable by power boat or kayak. The entire chain of lakes is apprx 1200acres. The fishing throughout the chain is excellent with bass, bluegill, crappie, perch and pike as the main species. There is a sandbar area boat hangout on Randall Lake (we have auger poles in our rental pontoon so you can hangout there if desired). 1 golf course and multiple restaurants are reachable by boat along the chain (Coldwater Golf Course/ Bill's Grill House/ Bill's Tap House and Pizza Parlor and Willows Bar). There is a hand dipped ice cream shop and party store across Craig Lake from our cottage (Country Cove Store) also reachable by boat or kayak.

The property is well maintained and has a beautiful covered porch facing the lake which is the perfect spot for morning coffee and afternoon relaxation.
You have a beautiful home, so tastefully decorated, and had everything we needed. The outdoor shed with all the water toys was a big plus. We, our kids and grandkids all had a wonderful time and would love to go back again! Thanks Adam and Kelly!
We had a beautiful stay. The home is absolutely stunning and the view is spectacular!! Perfect for families of all ages. Our family consisted of 3 generations and we all plenty of room to spread out and relax. The house is so well equipped with everything we needed. Everything was perfect, convenient and warm, very cozy. Having things like paper towel and toilet paper and not having to worry about sheets or blankets are an incredible plus. Your home allowed us to spend time just enjoying our family Thank you

My family had a reunion for the 4th of July, the neighbor yelled at our kids for running across in the her back yard while playing tag. We played games in the yard for a couple days and we ended up leaving early. When we leaving - mind you we left early after being forced to pay for a whole week, 48 hours later one of my family members went back to pick up a speaker he had left and he called me and told me the host was upset, so I called him twice trying to see if we made a mistake - ignored both my calls, I text him, very concerned - the next day I got a text about 3 paragraphs long with profanity and really just being a nasty person. Instead calling me back like an adult sent this text complaining about spots in the yard from us walking around - saying we destroyed the house - which was completely inaccurate - we hand washed every dish, we went room by room cleaning up everything, and we followed their instructions to a T. Now granted we are human I can imagine it wasn’t perfect, but the explanation from The host was so over dramatized it was hard to take serious. Would never want to rent from them again with how cruel and horrible they were to our kids (the owner is the neighbor). Not great people - if we made a mistake - we’re the types to always accept responsibility, which even with how we were treated, we did apologize and still they ranted and cussed us out via text. Would not work with these hosts again

As VRBO Premier hosts, currently in our 6th consecutive season with this property, we must address this misleading review. Without going into great detail, this guest was easily the worst and most disrespectful we have ever had at our vacation property. To briefly summarize, what was supposed to be a 1 day reunion and a couple cookouts, became a 5 day rolling open invite to a significant amount (15-20ppl) of family and/or friends with, apparently, nobody in charge at the property.
For only the 2rd time ever we have submitted a damage claim with the property insurance from this rental. The yard damage and broken and missing items from the cottage and shed are real. The extra $50 house cleaning charge from the cleaning company is real (never happened before). The wreckage left in our shed is real. And the upset neighbors are real (also never happened before). We have the property issue pictures (needed for insurance claim) to prove it.
We encourage our renters to use the deck and yard and and boat dock to really enjoy their time outside playing games, enjoying bonfires and having fun - kind of the main point of a lake front vacation rental (to which our neighbors don't mind either). But, to say that we were misled by the intent of this week long "open party" rental
is a gross understatement.
We will let our 5 1/2yrs cumulative VRBO 9.8star rating, and 33 repeat renters during that time attest to our rebuttal as vacation rental owners/hosts.
Adam and Kelli's place was perfect for our family vacation. We had children of all ages and a dog who loved the water. I would highly recommend staying here so that you can "Go jump in the lake," relax and have fun making memories!
This is a great place for a family stay. Very clean, well equipped, and more spacious than it looks from the pictures. The view of the lake is beautiful! The lakeside deck is so comfortable. The weather was unseasonably cool, so we didnt get to take advantage of the kayaks or paddle boat, but there were yard games to keep the kids occupied. Everyone had a good time. I would definitely book this home again.
We rented the property for a annual guys trip. Hosts were great, property was as advertised. We rented their pontoon boat for a day and had a great time. Property had great outdoor space
Cottage had a great location. There was plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy. The covered deck was my favorite feature. This was a very relaxing and peacefull week.
The cottage worked out perfectly for family visiting for my daughter's college graduation. It was spacious, neat, and had everything we needed to prepare meals. The back deck is beautiful!
The house is very well maintained and the covered porch is perfect for spending the afternoons once you are done on the water. Hosts are responsive and the property has all the amenities you would need including a shed with kayaks, a paddle board and other toys for the land and water.
Spent a long weekend in September. Owner’s were accommodating, responsive and friendly. Property and amenities all lived up description in listing. Highly recommend for family vacation!
Beautiful, clean, pet friendly home with many amenities for a comfortable stay. The highlight was hanging out on the back porch with an awesome view of the lake! Our family ate meals and played games there. At night we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit making s’mores and star gazing. We even got to see fireworks from a nearby lake! Got to meet Adam when he stopped by to see if everything was going well and asked if we needed anything. Thank you Adam and Kelly for being great hosts!
What a wonderful home! We stayed for a week and also rented their pontoon boat for a week. I can't say enough about the property, lake, neighborhood and Kelly and Adam. Majority of our time was spent on the spacious deck with awesome views of the lake. The house was equipped with anything you would possibly need. Beds were super comfy. We hope to rent again next summer:)
Very nice waterfront property with wonderful covered porch, which we enjoyed (especially when it was raining). Enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaks. Would definitely book again!
We spent 2 weeks here with our family and pets. The house was well kept and organized with everything we needed to enjoy the lakes and time together. There were kayaks and lawn games for everyone to enjoy. Our favorite thing was the amazing deck and large yard where the kids and dogs could play. We caught fish from the dock each night and enjoyed the lakes and sand bar.The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. Our hosts were very helpful and accommodating. We would highly recommend this lake house to any family.
