Great time in Dubois!
My husband and I, and our family and friends, enjoyed our stay at this cozy and comfortable cabin. We especially loved the wonderful fireplace that was well supplied with lots of wood and made for warm and cozy evening conversations. Our one disappointment was that the river was turbid during most of our stay, and prevented us from fly fishing nearby. We heard however that the inclement weather was unusual for the area. The owner was exceptionally responsive and accommodating. I would have given a 5-star rating (in fact I wish I could give a 4.5) except that the property does need some minor repair and updating to qualify for a perfect score. Otherwise, I highly recommend it!
Loved the deck!
We all just loved the deck and were out there most of the time we were at the house. The addition has a panoramic view of the river. I am a voracious reader and found several books in the well stocked library that I thoroughly enjoyed. Nothing beats a good book, a cup of hot coffee, and the river's soft song as it ripples past. Deer with their fawns strolled through the yard early in the morning and bats swirled overhead at night backed by a sky full of clear bright stars. We did have some issues with the lights flicking on and off but the owner consulted an electrician. This person thought it was just probably the winds we were having at the time but the owner said he had the electrician scheduled to come out and check anyway to make sure nothing was wrong. The shower in the addition never got very hot. It was barely lukewarm but we just used the one in the main house or made due. The house has electric heaters available so you can get the bathroom warm. The house is located back off of the main road right on the river so you don't have dust settling on your car and there is plenty of parking. The neighborhood wasn't noisy when we were there. You would need to keep a close eye on children and pets as the river is very swift. You also need to be careful with fire. A nice outside fire ring is provided but just remember that one stray spark could set the whole area ablaze. We were able to have a small fire one night after the wind stopped blowing - just enough to make a few smores - and then watered it out before retiring for the night. A grill is provided and was actually clean enough to use with the addition of a little foil.
Barbara, Thx . Terrific appreciation of our Hideaway situated quietly on the Wind River. Simple comfortable real Wyoming lifestyle.
Sorry for that inconvenience on electricity flickering. The morning you departed(Sunday) the electrician arrived. The connections outside at main meter was the culprit. All correct.
We will make a note on instructions re: the hot water. There is a RED reset button that remedies the slow hot water Thx Enjoy the rest of summer Best fg
Beautiful sunrise and sunset
Beautiful sunrise and sunset. Quiet and secluded location but not far from town or national parks. Would stay here again!
Nice cabin on the river!
Spacious yet cozy and perfect for our two families. We enjoyed evenings on the deck by the river and coffee in the morning. The kids loved seeing the mule deer that came through the yard. The drive to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone is amazing.
Great cabin, lots to do there!
We stayed with 8 people total and had plenty of room. The cabin was clean and stocked. We spent most of our time going to Tetons, Jackson and Yellowstone. Be prepared to drive an hour and 15 minutes just to get to the Tetons.
Comfy cabin with nice outdoor space
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin on the river. It was convenient to town with it's small stores and restaurants. The cabin was clean and equipped with everything we needed. When we had a concern Fred was easy to contact and diligent about returning our calls as soon as possible. The outdoor deck was our favorite spot. The river was raging, so there was no chance of fly fishing in it, which was a disappointment, but we thoroughly enjoyed having coffee outside and watching the many birds and the chipmunks each morning. We also saw deer and bunnies passing through the yard. Dubois has beautiful scenic drives and a friendly atmosphere. My husband ended up finding Brooks Lake to fish in which was about a half hour drive but he loved it and caught a lot of fish. The Friday night rodeo was fun for all ages. The only thing we weren't prepared for was the long drive to Yellowstone (At least 2 hours to the gate), but once there it was well worth it. The landscape keeps things interesting, and watching for wildlife made the time pass quickly. One morning when we headed out early we saw a moose near the side of the road. He hung around for quite a while as we took pictures. This was definitely one of our best vacations yet.
Wonderful guests delightful to meet laughed a whole lot Fred
