I was an entrepreneur in healthcare technology and now in education consulting with charter school. I love developing and restoring unique properties. The Thimble Islands are very unique. I have been an owner of my property since 1995. My extended family and friends have loved it all these years.
Jeff Lund purchased this house in 1995
My parents found the Thimble Islands in the early 60's and we as children have very fond memories of the islands. I returned as an adult and after renting, purchased my 4 acre property on Pot Island in 1995. I have been there with my family every summer since. I also have for rent a smaller cottage with boathouse on the same property.
Being on the island provides spiritual renewal due to the magnificent views of water, land, and nature. The place has a Norman Rockwell feeling to it and where time has truly stopped and one can relax, read, socialize, cook, exercise, kayak, boat, swim, sail, fish, dance....and all without leaving the island.
Do not hesitate to book this fantastic home! We had lovely family vacation for 18, ages 4-75. Fun for all! Easy drive to Stony Creek CT. Easy to park your car for few days. Quick ferry to the house. Home is beautiful. All bedrooms and baths are nicely done. Nice linens/bedding. Great, stocked kitchen (no microwave, no biggie). Wonderful decks for coffee and full meals while watching the sun set. Great little beach with kayaks. Plenty of room to roam, rocks to climb, places to relax. We took the Thimble Islands tour with Capt. Bob (fantastic), we ate dinner one night in Branford at Nataz, 10 minutes away, we sailed for few hours with Eric Treu at Sailworks (worth every penny), we rented 19ft boat for a week from docks in Guilford (totally worth it). One of the best family trips ever! Jeff was so accommodating and easy to work with. Rent it!
My husband and I got married here in June 2014 and had an amazing time. Even though we live in the area, Pot Island felt like a destination wedding. There was ample room for all the kids to run around and discover all kinds of treasures. My guests used the kayaks, hammocks, outdoor lounging. We are chefs and really enjoyed cooking for all our loved ones in the beautiful kitchen! it was well equipped and perfect for our needs. Jeff was very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. I can't say enough about this place, it's magical!
Our celebration on Pot Island was fantastic. The restored historic hotel worked out perfectly with plenty of well appointed, charming bedrooms for the extended family. On the first evening we had a casual barbecue with family members cooking together in the large well equipped kitchen. On the next evening, there was a formal catered dinner in the dining room preceded by cocktails and ceremony on the spacious, dramatic porch overlooking the water at sunset. The decks and surrounding grounds were great for relaxing and chating with the family. In addition the island was a seaside adventure for the youngsters. A real hit! Our whole event on Pot Island was just fantastic! Thanks to the owner for maintaining a beautiful property well landscaped and decorated in style and good taste. This is a one-of-a-kind retreat for large groups! I would recommend this property to others desiring a stay at an unusual island close to shore and accessible by water taxi and private boats. The owner's dock worked out well for two power boats, kayaks (guests paddled out from Stony Creek) and the local water taxi which was necessary for transporting goods and folks...all easily arranged. The owner was helpful in all of these arrangements and was very knowledgeable about the area.
What a fantastic place! My family rented the house for my 80th birthday. There were 18 of us ranging in age from 5 to 83. Though a hurricane threatened and we arrived a day later than planned, each and every moment was perfect! The views defy imagination - from every window and every path - there were vistas of unimaginable beauty.
We have many excellent cooks in the family and being able to prepare gourmet meals is a priority. The kitchen left nothing to be desired - big space, design, pans, knives, etc. etc.
Sleeping, playing - pool and ping pong - books games and more.
It was a fantastic stay. The only problem was having to leave. We could have stayed for ever.
