About Owner

She's American, he's French and together they've created a special place filled with the best of both worlds.

Owner purchased this apartment in 1996

Why Owner chose District of Columbia (Washington DC)

Location, Location, Location. We wanted to be close to the action, yet far enough away to enjoy a quiet night of sleep. It's easily accessible to major attraction and highways. The house was originally built in 1920 and totally renovated to include the most up-to-date amenities.

What makes this apartment unique

The unit is equipped with everything you need. Whatever is missing is only a request away. We're always available to assist. One guest described their visit as 'it was like staying with friends'. On the other hand, if you are totally self sufficient, you'll never see us. Only know we're a text or phone call away.

Blocks from the Capitol

  • 4 of 5

This facility was perfect for our family of three, and could easily accommodate a family of four. We took our bikes and were able to bike to the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and the Capitol in about 7 minutes. Carla welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed. She has it decorated in a charming, welcoming way. All of the amenities were in great condition and very modern. It is in a quiet neighborhood, and close to the metro and a market place. I would definitely stay at this facility again.

Great place to stay!!

  • 5 of 5

DC was a terrific place to visit, and staying here just made it that much more enjoyable. The place is a great little get away, situated in the perfect location. Very close to everything you want to see, but out of the hustle and bustle of the city. Carla and Fred were wonderful hosts and we had everything we needed for the perfect stay- including very comfortable beds and accommodations. Thanks for helping to make our stay perfect for our family of four!

The owner was extremely helpful and so congenial. We spent a long weekend and were amazed that our location was so close to all the happenings in Washington. We would

definitely stay there again.

Good location

  • 4 of 5

We were glad to stay here however there were a few hiccups. One being that there was a strong smell of gas when we arrived. The landlords worked to remedy that very quickly and we were able to be flexible around the arrival of repairman etc. The repairman was only testing the gas around the hot water heater and felt he fixed it. Still, each morning we'd smell gas. Eventually my husband figured out there's a gas leak from the dryer connection which he was able to turn off via the safety valve and correct. The flat is very clean, well lit (it's in a basement so only one window), comfortable beds, nice bedding and sheets. We cook most all our meals and found it challenging to cook only using three basic pots...still we managed. When I couldn't find pot holders or dish towels I texted the owner and she responded right away by phone telling me where to find these. It's helpful too that the Eastern Market is nearby, as well as a Healthfood store...all within walking distance. We used Uber to get to the Museums we wanted to visit. Our rides never cost more than $7.

Great Hosts, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Owners Carla and Fred were great hosts, fun to be with and very helpful in finding local restaurants, advising how to get around D.C., and introducing us to their friends in the neighborhood. Best owners, ever. The apartment was first class from the sheets on the bed to the terrycloth bathrobes to the fairly new appliances. The location is perfect, only a 15-minute walk to the U.S. Capitol, 20-minute walk to the Eastern Market. We enjoyed walking around the row houses in the neighborhood.

We recommend this rental for touring D.C.

wonderful studio in great neighborhood with fabulous owners

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Capital Hill! Great walkable neighborhood which give you a taste of how the locals live. Roomy studio which was very comfortable for our family - 2 adults and an 8 year old. From this home base, we walked everywhere - the mall and all the museums were about a 20 minute walk. The metro stop was about a 15 minute walk away and offered a gateway to the rest of the city. The beds were comfy, with wonderful linens. The decor is elegant but comfortable. The door has a code so no keys to keep up with - really a great touch. And Carla and Fred, the owners, are the absolute best!! Meeting them was one of the best parts of the visit. Whenever we had any questions or problems, they were a phone call away. So very much better than staying in a hotel. We will definitely come back.
