We are John and Janet Knox of Pylesville, MD. We have three children, Samantha (25), Joey (22) and Cole (20). We live in a very rural area on the Mason Dixon line on a couple hundred acres of farmland and woods. We enjoy dirt bikes, sports, jet skis, traveling, and the beach. We just purchased a second vacation home in Jaco, Costa Rica. Please see vrbo 477704 for details!
Janet purchased this house in 2008
We visited Aruba in 2007 to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary. We had travelled all over the Caribbean, Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, and had been thinking about purchasing a vacation home, and Aruba fit all our requirements - stable government, safe, beautiful and easily accessible. We looked at houses of all types and prices but knew the minute we saw this one that it was the one for us!
Location, location, location! Everything we need is within walking distance, so we don't have to worry about finding a parking space or being too drunk to drive home from Moomba Beach Club! The house is open and inviting and clean and has everything you need for a relaxing and fun vacation.
What can I say about this property on Palm Beach other than it was just what we wanted. The owner, Janet, is great to deal with. She will reply quickly and help you with information any way she can. The home has anything you need. Full kitchen, all rooms have AC, washer, beach toys, beach shoes, beach towels, boogie boards, parking for the car but if you don't want to rent a car, no problem because you are just walking distance to the Ritz and Marriott areas where you can walk to restaurants, shopping, bars, clubs, whatever you want to do in this beautiful island. We had dinner at two great restaurants, pricey but you get5 what you pay for and we loved them. Barefoot is one of them, this is fine dining but right on the beach, your table will be on the sand overlooking the water and the yachts that dock right there in the shore. We also went to Pinchos Bar Grill, near the cruise line area, this little gem is right on the water...you walk down a little pier that leads you into the restaurant. Be careful with items that fall down, as they can go through the cracks of the floor and bye, bye for ever... We took one whole day to explore Arikok National Park, where you find caves, the natural pool, they even have a little pond that has the fish that like to eat your cuticles. Google that and you will see that a pedicure with those fishes is EXPENSIVE and they have them, in a little pond that is in the main cave that has the indian drawings (it is the only cave that has the original drawings). You will see goats all over and donkeys all over because this island was used once for cattle farming or something of the sort. Let's talk about the people of Aruba, OMG, can they be any nicer? I am calling it the Canada of the south. lol If you need directions, just ask anyone, they are always happy to help and will lead you in the right direction. They all pretty much speak at least 3 to 4 languages... Dutch, English, Spanish and the main island language. It is such an amazing place and we can't wait to plan our next trip and rent Janet's home again. Thank you Janet, your place is amazing and we truly enjoyed our stay there. One happy house in One happy island.
The house was just as described, clean and accommodating, spacious, quiet, and private, lovely landscaping and comfortable furniture.
Even though very close to beach and stores it is still a pretty good walk, but cabs are reasonable and dependable. Security system was excellent.
We stayed in this great house last week. beautiful house, great accommodations and very close to everything. Three couples, we were on vacation and were ready to begin a much needed time in the warm sun. But on the Second night we were robbed. Someone broke into the house while we were sleeping and actually came into our rooms while we were sleeping and started to clean us out. If it hadn't been for one of our friends waking up, they would of gotten everything. They did get two I Pads and a couple hundred dollars cash. we continued our vacation but we were violated and mentally scared. Be careful no matter where you stay!
Just got back from Janet's Palm Beach house. Great location, about 2-3 blocks to the beach through the goat path. The location is just behind the Radisson Hotel/Marriott. Easy walk to beach, only takes 10-15 minutes. Great big drive way for car rental. The property is just as the pictures show it. The house itself will fit 4-7 people comfortably. The house was clean and very secure. Key pad entry so no key needed was great. Huge kitchen too. The location is ideal and right by everything. We rented a car and like I said the drive way was perfect and safe. I would def rent this house again anytime. There were plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, and all kitchen utensils and supplies. Even a washing machine to do laundry.
Janet is also great to communicate with. Our flight was cancelled a day because of a snow storm and Janet did not mind at all that we came a day late and left a day early. That was a huge stress relief. She was extremely nice and understanding. She also always replied very fast to any emails I had or questions.
All in all a great location, house, and owner. We were very happy with this!
Recently we had the pleasure of staying at Janet’s Palm Beach villa. We had a fabulous time and even got to the point where leaving felt as if we were leaving our very own home. This was our third Aruba rental and definitely our best. If anyone out there is having reservations about renting, do not worry. Janet's home is great.
Everything in the home is exactly as you would expect it to be. The pictures do a great job of setting your expectations and the owners do an even better job of filling in any blanks. The attention and service provided by Janet was the best that we have experienced. Every email we sent was answered surprisingly fast with not only the requested information but also any related info she thought would be of use. She presented us with a clear timeline of when payments should be made and various other pieces of information (check in instructions, directions, etc.)
We always rent a jeep because we like to explore but if you plan to stay in the Palm Beach area a vehicle is not a necessity. Both the beach and nightlife is within walking distance of the home as well as the bus route in case you want to venture out further. However, I will say if you plan on using the beach chairs and coolers available at the home walking may not be the best idea.
After picking up the rental car we followed the directions and had no problem finding the house. We unloaded and unpacked before stocking up at Ling's. We picked up breakfast, lunch and snack foods for the week, along with beverages both alcohol and non. The home has everything you will need whether doing light snack prep or cooking a full blown meal. The coolers are great for Arashi sunsets.
The home sleeps 7 or 8 but since we were a party of two the very comfortable bed in the Master was enough, but for one occasion when his snoring became too much of a nuisance he got to test out the bed in one of the other rooms. I was told it was also very comfortable. Each room has an air conditioner but we eventually decided they weren't necessary as the home stays cool at night and we were never there during the day.
Great location, accommodations and property owners; Janet and her Villa have set the bar extremely high for any future rentals we may book. Then again unless this rental is unavailable I'm not sure we would have any reason to go with another rental.
(This review was much longer and far more glowing but had to be edited due to VRBO only allowing 2500 characters)
This house is perfect for anyone! We had three generations including a toddler and it was great for all ages. The enclosed patio was a fantastic place to unwind and safe for a little one. Great location, walking distance to the beach, restaurants, nightlife, watersports, etc. without dealing with the chaos of Oranjestad. Full size kitchen was spotless and fully equiped. Boogie boards, snorkeling gear and the good chairs are there. Janet's notebook was full of great info. The men booked a fishing trip with MahiMahi at the marina in Oranjestad. Our only mistake was goingfishing at the end of the vacation...we didn't have enough time to eat all the fish that they caught! Highly recommend them and you can book them directly to save money.
All you need for the perfect vacation here are your clothes, food and plenty of time because you will not want to leave! We already have started our to-do list for our next trip here!
Excellent snorkeling and scuba diving nearby.
