Alcúdia is located in the heart of this area of contrasts, between the stone walls and the sandy coves of the Bay of Alcúdia, between the north wind, the sea and the interior.
Alcúdia treasures an important historical legacy and the essence of Mediterranean life, where everything happens slowly, where everything is savored and enjoyed. Within its medieval walls (which began to be built in the year 1300) is "Sa Plaza": the meeting point of the "Alcudians" - residents. Surrounded by bars, restaurants and terraces to enjoy the best cuisine on the island.
In any direction from the square, you will find the famous "Doors of the Xara and Sant Sebastià" (antique arches), the Church of Sant Jaume. On the opposit you'll find the roman city "Pollentia" and a little further a novel theater, a "rara avis" because instead of being built, it's carved into the rock.
A row of orange trees mark the route of the main streets, Carrer del Moll and Calle Mayor. In these beautiful streets you will find many beautiful shops like small jewelers, shoe stores, clothing stores, bars and restaurants ... Many of these establishments started their business generations and years ago in small, quiet squares and streets.
Alcúdia is one of those places where there is a new sensation in every corner.
Every Tuesday and Sunday morning, the very quiet city accelerates with the market. Farmers, merchants, artists and artists paint the town and the bustle of the people inside and outside the medieval wall.
Port d'Alcudia is only 1 kilometer away from the village: a small fishing port, which today has become a popular place for people who enjoy life on the beach.
The promenade has won many competitions of architecture and urbanism and is the perfect setting to walk with it's fragrant aroma and the pleasant breeze, between the "llaüts", the traditional fishing boats, and the modern marina Alcudiamar with its boats and impressing yachts.
On the other hand you'll find the best fish restaurants, ice cream stores and clothing stores. The beach of Alcúdia with its crystal clear turquoise waters. It is the most popular beach, which has all kinds of services: bars, boat rentals and sailing courses and a water park.
Puerto Alcudia the longest in Majorca (10 km) but not the only one. In the immediate vicinity you will find almost twenty other beautiful ones: of sand, pebbles, rocky, accessible only by sea. There are the intimate beaches "Alcanada" or the "S'Illot". The beach "Coll Baix" is a true excursion among pines and rocks.
Precisely from the "Coll Baix" beach "Sa Talaia", former defensive watchtower at the highest point of the municipality. From above we can see the two bays: the Serra, Alcudia, the Pla de Mallorca and when the day is clear, the coast of Menorca.
It is definitely S'Albufereta and S'Albufera: two of the largest wetlands / marsh districts of the Balearic Islands, with important animal and plant species.
