Cozy and roomy cottage

This original grove keepers cottage with original tractor barn which once laid claim to an expansive working orange grove in the 1940's. Although the grove has been sold off and developed over the years the remaining 1 acre provides a private tropical sanctuary for its guest in the geographic center of charming Dunedin. .
Cottage #1, has a fireplace, Cottage #2 has tiki hut .


Less 10 minutes and you will be to the quaint shops and restaurants and right 15 minutes to Dunedin causeway and Honeymoon Island State Park. "About the property" as pictures illustrate, The gated property is a tropical oasis that the owners have nurtured over the last 20 years. Enjoy vistas of native and subtropical plants and trees. Start your day with a stretch in the private Zen garden, yoga mats provided.

Feed the turtles and Koi in the Koi pond. Take a dip in the lagoon pool (not heated) or just relax on the hammock under the tiki hut. Landscape lights on at night create a romantic setting for couples. "About the cottage", dine in style inside or out, upscale Bohemian furnishings combine with eclectic original artwork set the stage for a truly awesome holiday experience. You will be hooked and be back like so many of our guests, again and again.

Our Mermaid Cottage was absolutely charming and peaceful—just what we had imagined. Our two dogs loved their vacation here too! Surrounded by lush tropical plants, relaxing by the beautiful pool, and feeding the turtles and koi every day made the stay truly special. We can’t wait to return for another unforgettable getaway.

We absolutely loved staying at this property. Our cottage had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated. The grounds are amazing with a natural pool setting as well as a hot tub, outdoor bbq, tables and chairs in a private park like setting. Lori and Gary are wonderful hosts. Thank you for making our first trip to Florida so memorable!

This was our second time staying in the same unit - The Mermaid. Everything was as we remembered and the reason for our return visit. The Mermaid is artfully decorated and fun to experience. Clearly, someone with an eye for the eclectic had a hand in the decorating. All the facilities worked well and the kitchen was adequately equipped, but with numerous restaurants close by there's not much motivation to prepare meals. The Air conditioning worked well but the bedroom can become warm and a couple fans weren't operating well - neither an issue. The grounds landscaping and Lagoon pool are beautiful, creating a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The accommodations were quiet and at night the grounds are beautifully lighted.

John, thank you so much for the wonderful review. Just so you know the fan in the bedroom does work but it is a remote control and the light switch has to be on always know that we are available to help if in the future you come back and stay and have an issue with a fan.

Thank you so much for a truly relaxing and enjoyable stay. The mermaid cottage was clean, quiet, comfortable and felt very private. I loved feeding the fish and turtles and the quiet mornings on the front patio. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Nice and clean with all the amenities. The grounds were very pretty and the pool area was beautiful, however the weather did not allow the water temp to be comfortable for us to swim.. maybe next time we would come later in May..We used the available bikes to access the Pinellas Trail to go into Dunedin.There were neat little coffee shops and bars that backed up to the trail.A nice, relaxing place to unwind and the hosts were very nice and responsive.

The Mermaid was a lovely cottage in a lovely location. We especially liked the fact that it was pet friendly. Our dog Sarge absolutely loved watching the fish in the fish pond. And the huge old oaks on the property are priceless.

Was hard to believe this little tropical paradise was so close to restaurants, shops, and the beaches. It truly was a relaxing oasis for our trip to Florida. Loved the pool and feeding the turtles and fish in the pond. We will definitely stay here again.

Shopping downtown Dunedin is a must .
