Victorian Mansion Newly Renovated. Sleeps 16. Two kitchens.

The Gillis House is the largest single family home in Siskiyou County. It’s been a movie set as well as an episode on the PBS show “If These Walls Could Talk.” The mansion has two new kitchens for your private use. One bedroom can be converted from a king bed to two extra long twin beds. Let us know your preference. The massive downstairs offers a large, fully-equipped chef's kitchen, huge living room, library with big screen tv, game room with poker table and 12 foot long custom table in the grand dining room. as well as a first-level bedroom for those guests who would prefer not to walk up stairs. The remaining four bedrooms are on the second level along with a kitchenette.

Our big family loves having a place where we can all get together. The mansion is such a charming step back in time. Our grandkids organized a game night of live Clue. Playing the murder mystery from room to room with costumes and cardboard weapons. The house is well equipped and very comfortable . We will definitely come back.

We booked the house to be near my sister for Christmas and had absolutely MAGICAL stay. The owners decorated with a beautiful Christmas tree and garlands in the entry, Christmas music CDs for the player, and the Victorian charm took care of the rest of the house. The kitchen was AMAZINGLY well stocked, I’ve never stayed anywhere with such a great kitchen. We appreciated all the extra lap blankets and other cozy touches that made us feel at home. I’ve stayed in several rentals, this was by far the best we’ve ever had. Thank you for a great holiday, and I hope we have another opportunity to stay there again!

This was the second time that a group of us have rented this beautiful house for a ‘friends reunion’. Once again, it did not disappoint. The place is spotlessly, clean, beautifully decorated, and large enough to easily accommodate our group of 10. The kitchen has everything needed to cook for and serve a large group. We plan to book it again next year.

Came to Yreka for a memorial service in Horsecreek for my cousin. Life long friends and their daughter joined us. We were so comfortable visiting and talking old memories in this beautiful setting. We’d all recommend the Gillis mansion to anyone. Every detail to make the stay comfortable was covered.

Yreka Gillis Mansion

My siblings and I rented the Gillis Mansion to have a place where our family could stay together when we came to Yreka to celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday. This property was perfect for our stay. There was plenty of space for everyone and the house is perfectly appointed. We enjoyed cooking in the beautiful and modern kitchen and all being able to fit in the dining room at the table together. We had a perfect weekend at this beautifully restored property.

This is a great property to enjoy if you want to cook together and eat together at the large dining room table.There is plenty of room for 5 couples to sleep but the additional sleeping arrangements are not as described, there are no futons. Also one of the bedrooms does not have air conditioning and it gets hot.Overall a beautiful place to stay.

This house was perfect for a gathering of extended family. We had large group meals around the table, and the ample seating in the front room, library and elsewhere made it possible for smaller groups to visit comfortably. The house is beautifully appointed and the bedrooms are luxurious.

Friends group

This has got to be one of the best vacation rentals I’ve stayed at in the US, and I’ve stayed at a lot. From start to finish our group of 8 enjoyed every moment of this lovely historic home. It had great vibes, cleanliness, space, and comfort. Our host Stacy was top notch and was there anytime we needed her. The kitchen had all the essentials you needed to make large meals. Such a wonderful rental!

During our 3 night stay, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the house, including all those that had hotel rooms in town! Every room was nicely laid out & equipped with everything necessary for a memorable time. I’m not sure it could have worked any better for our family group and we would not hesitate to rent it again in the future! This history of the house made it even more memorable for us all. Exceeded expectations

This was the best short term rental ever for a siblings reunion. This place is absolutely beautiful... Impressive bedrooms, antique beds and furniture, plenty of bathrooms and large kitchen. It was perfect as it has five bedrooms with more than ample space and privacy. We expected it to be nice but it exceeded our expectations.Hopefully those who rent this place in the future will treat it with the respect and care it deserves so it can be enjoyed for many years to come..

Fabulous property!

We stayed at the Gillis House for a 10-sibling family gathering. We are all seniors, and felt the stairs were easy to navigate. The kitchen and bathrooms were well-appointed. (All of the beds were comfortable, save the twin beds, which could be attributed to not sleeping on one for 55 years.) We have stayed in many VRBO's in 5 states for our annual family gathering over the past 10 years, such as Bandon, Tahoe and Estes Park, and concluded this one was the best for us!

Best BNB experience EVER

Wow. What a place. Five couples spent a weekend here and we all agreed it was our best BNB experience ever. It's spotlessly clean, spacious, tastefully decorated, and well equipped. The kitchen had high-end appliances and every utensil, pot, pan, and gadget one would ever need, even spices and condiments. There were thoughtful little touches like USB ports and charging cords on the nightstands, shampoo and conditioner in the showers, etc. The beds and furniture are high-quality and very comfortable. We felt like guests in someone's well-loved home, not renters of a BNB. There was off-street parking for our 5 cars and a fenced yard for the dog. None of us wanted to leave. We have already booked this place for our gathering next year. Having stayed in over 50 bnb places in the US and overseas, I can whole heatedly recommend this place. BNB just doesn't get any better than this.

Beyond our expectations!

I grew up in Yreka and have been by this house a thousand times. Being able to stay here and have such a great experience was amazing! I stayed here with my family and my brother's family. There were so much space and never did we feel too crowded. The cleanliness of the house was great. I am pretty picky and I was blown away by what a great job they did with such a large home. All the furnishings fit the house beautifully and the remodeling that was done was very tasteful. The house is beyond stocked for almost anything you like to do. I wish we had more time so that I could've used the incredible kitchen! Communication with the owner was great and easy. We didn't get a chance to meet in person but their property manager was nice to deal with as well. This is such a piece of history for the town of Yreka and I'm grateful that they have kept this house up and are allowing people to stay there. I hope we get another chance to stay here in the future!

Best Vrbo Stay ever...till date

When we first stumbled upon this Mansion on Vrbo, it seemed almost too good to be true. There must be a catch! But everything was as perfect as it seemed on the listing. Cynthia is the most thoughtful, gracious host. We stayed at this mansion with my parents and our friends and had the best experience imaginable. The mansion is located just 5 minutes away from I-5, and we walked to Yreka downtown and coffee shop every single day because it was so close. The mansion has lot of rooms and space to accomodate large parties. It has all the great amenities such as fully equipped 2 kitchens with full cookware and modern dinnerware and glassware. Cynthia was very considerate to provide portable air conditioners for each room, so you’ll have everything you need during your stay. The bedrooms all have their own bathroom and plenty of privacy. We loved the small details such as - multiple mobile chargers provided in each of the rooms and common areas and board games provided for the kids.

Comfortable Stay in a Beautifully Preserved Historic Home

The Gillis House was a perfect stay for my partner and group of friends. Each year we celebrate my birthday, which is around Halloween, by doing a murder-mystery party. Our group of friends have come to expect this every year, and with our recent move to Oregon and everyone else back in California, Yreka happened to be the almost exact mid-point for us to reconvene. Stacey the property manager me us onsite to run through the operation, quirks, and management of the house that has particularities that come with a house of this age and size. There were really no special care instructions that were tedious; every part of the stay was straightforward and mostly care free. On our second night, the ball-and-claw foot tub didn't want to shut off after we bathed the baby before bedtime. Cindy the owner was very responsive to help us troubleshoot and find a solution and didn't interrupt our night at all. We appreciated that everyone communicated very clearly and the house was set up to be very comfortable for our large group, pet friendly for our dog, and had all the modern amenities for a nice enjoyable stay in a beautifully preserved historic home. We will be looking to stay again.
