About Sarah McNulty

We are a family of 4 inc two teenages. We moved here in 2001 and haven´t looked back.We came for some adventure and a good- hearted place to bring up our kids & have not been disappointed.

The beauty, culture and history of Granada has kept us stimulated and we have all grown to love this place ,its people and the lifestyle .

Sarah McNulty purchased this townhome in 2003

Why Sarah McNulty chose Granada

We were stunned by the beauty and feel of the Albayzin on our first visit.Later we started to inquire about houses for sale. Our house was the first one we looked at and the search stopped there .It was only a shell but it had & has an atmosphere hard to capture in a photo. The previous owner was Laura de los Rios the niece of Garcia Lorca- Granadas famous poet. She bought it for its light atmosphere and privacy all rare qualities in the houses here.

It is our desire to live here in the near future. A thank you to all our guests for helping us in this quest.

Also we are very lucky to be able to drive to the door of the house as the Albayzin is a restricted zone & many of the cobbled streets don´t have access. To keep it quiet & traffic free our street has a barrier that is up between 11am -2pm & after 8pm( you can always exit!)If you arrive during these times just park up and walk down to the house-When the barrier lifts you can bring your car closer.

What makes this townhome unique

The Caves which would have been the original house . They are always cool in Summer and warm in winter we are very lucky to have them as an integral part of the house .

Our house is only a few minutes from the city center but above the pollution Also a few minutes from the sierra behind the Albayzin -for endless walks or cycling.

The incredible sunsets.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We were met by Sarah and Bert who showed us round their lovely house. On arrival they had kindly provided us with orange juice, coffee, biscuits, bread and a bottle of wine. What more could you ask for?

The house is situated in the old town with lovely views. We made the most of the terraces especally the one off the main bedroom.

It was wonderful to be in the old town and then just a short work into the city.

We stayed for 4 nights but could have stayed longer.

Will definitely be back.

The apartment was a perfect location and accommodating our family of five perfectly.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is located in the Albacin, a beautiful neighborhood overlooking the city of Granada. It can be challenging to deal with parking if you are traveling by car, but once you are parked, everything is easily accessible and walkable. We felt like we had and authentically Spanish experience negotiating the narrow roads and lots of steps! Our family of five fit perfectly in this historic home. My daughter loved sleeping in the cool, dark and quiet cave part of the old house and we also enjoyed beautiful views of the Alhambra at night from the upper balcony. Sarah is a great host and was extremely helpful in providing a map and suggestions for the best way to enjoy our visit. That included connecting us with Rafael a local architect from England who gave us a customized tour of the old Moorish neighborhoods. It was a wonderful way to see the hidden secrets of this city and understand the layers of history. The apartment was well appointed although we spent most of our time sightseeing and enjoying the local restaurants and cafés. Our best dinner was at a Moroccan restaurant near the old shopping area and we had a lovely tapas meal near the Daro river looking up at the Alhambra.

Beds were comfortable and we slept great at night because it was so quiet. We also enjoyed Sara's English touch went down comforters! The upper room can get warm, but we were very comfortable with the air-conditioner that cooled it down nicely. The rest of the house stayed amazingly cool. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for an authentic visit to Granada. The only caution might be for an older couple or someon unsteady on their feet. Walking on the cobblestone streets might be a challenge especially with the hills. This would be an issue for anyone sightseeing in the Albacin.

Our second stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with another family stayed here in 2015. We enjoyed the property and location so much upon returning to Granada with our two young adult children we desired to share with them our joy of this home.

We liked that the location was close to the "action" of the city but located in a peaceful residential area. We could walk to all of the places we wanted to experience in relative ease. It was close to restaurants, a bakery and two Mercado's that we desired.

The home it self was appointed well, the bedrooms were restful and beds in good shape, sitting and dining areas comfortable, and the two balconies were delightful for afternoon drinks and enjoying remarkable views of the city. The kitchen had plenty of utensils and cook ware for our needs.

We found Sarah to be just as helpful, kind, professional and responsive as our first stay. It was a delight to see her and to have more wonderful memories and experiences while staying in her home.

Best, Dr. William Parish

Up in the hills, near the Alhambra the house is in a great location. Loved the neighborhood - our last night we found a restaurant with a jazz band. Wonderful

Fantastic location for exploring the old town and the palace.

  • 4 of 5

The house is in a perfect location with amazing views from the top floor bedroom. Downstairs is small for 5 people and the house is what I would describe as rustic.
