We enjoyed the property! I love the story of the family/house. The location was great for this visit. Jim was great with providing information to access the property for check in day.
We absolutely loved our stay! It was the perfect location for our son’s field of dreams tournament! The home was filled with such love, and themed with baseball, it made our stay so nostalgic. Would highly recommend if you want a fun experience being in Dyersville Iowa.
The hosts were super responsive and friendly. They really made our visit something extra special. The house is historic and comfortable. Wonderful relaxed vibe and a great visit overall.
The property was great. It was exactly as listed. It was clean, check in process was very easy. Would highly recommend Jim’s place for anyone visiting!
We enjoyed our stay as a family. The home is spacious, and the accommodations were clean, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated with baseball memorabilia. Everything was smooth and as advertised!
We had a great stay at this house. It has a great historic vibe but is in good shape and had everything we needed. Communication with the host was super easy.
It is near train tracks and a somewhat busy street, which wasn't a huge deal for us but could be worth keeping in mind for light sleepers.
Our stay was amazing! The location is great! 5 minutes from the Field of Dreams, close to a park and in a quiet neighborhood. Felt right at home, even though we were in town for a tournament. The host was easy to reach and very friendly. We loved it! Will definitely stay here again next year if it’s available!
Our overnight stay was perfect! There was plenty of room to crash, and a great space for our group to play games and cards. The owner was very accommodating and had great communication. We loved the baseball theme throughout the house, as well!
Very well cleaned and maintained. We loved the porch, the backyard and the park across the street for the kids. The house was also very kid friendly which made things so nice and relaxing. I highly recommend!
It was great. Dad and 3 adult sons to visit Dad's home state, family, and to revisit places where many memories were made. A fun few days for everyone.
Wonderful large older house with plenty of room for a family to stay. Two nice large living rooms for spreading out. Just a note, the train nearby is very loud at night. Also, family member left a pair of earrings there, is there any chance you have seen them? Thanks very much for letting us stay in your home!

About the host
Hosted by Jim
THE HISTORY of 1104 2nd AVE SE The home was built in 1910 and our parents purchased it in 1968 and raised 10 kids here. Our father (Lloyd) worked several miscellaneous jobs, but for most of his adult life he was a truck driver. When the majority of the kids were young, our mother (Donna) stayed home during the days and waitressed in the evenings until she settled into working as a cook at Beckman High School for 20 years. The house itself really hasn’t changed much in the last 54 years that it has been in the Goerdt name. Our father passed away in 2000 and our mother then lived here alone for 20 years until she passed away in 2021.
Upon the passing of our mother, the question arose as to what to do with the house that had been the centerpiece of the family for so long. Six of the siblings wanted to keep the house and four siblings wanted to sell. It was ultimately decided that the six wanting to keep the house would buy out the other four and continue to maintain the home and to use it for holiday gatherings, birthdays, and other special occasions throughout the year.
We now offer our home to those who come to Dyersville to relive their foregone younger days of living in a small town, to visit the Field of Dreams, to see the beautiful 132-year-old Basilica of St. Francis Xavier (1 of 53 in the United States), to attend the annual Farm Toy Shows, or to just sit back and enjoy the place we have called home for so many years. Our family has enjoyed the time spent in this house and the memories that go along with it and we hope your experience is a joyous and memorable one.
