Enjoy priceless time with your family in this open and light-filled ocean oasis. Sip your coffee in the morning in rocking chairs on the covered wrap-around porch, enjoy lunch on the beachfront deck, read your favorite book or nap in the large porch hammock, sip cocktails or enjoy al fresco meals on the secluded deck or picnic table on the porch...and venture just steps away to the crystal clear ocean, sea oats, and silky sand beach. The large oceanfront deck with lounge chairs and tables is between the house and beach steps and shower. It is buffered by the Maritime forest to allow for a more private sunning experience.

But, don't worry about too much togetherness! There are many private spaces (chaises, 2 smaller porches, and that inviting hammock) for some time alone.

This home has every amenity to make your stay memorable. There is a chef's kitchen! Fully stocked! Large island for prep and gathering. Wet bar with ice maker. Every bedroom is en suite with multiple views of the ocean. This custom-built home was architecturally designed to bring the outdoors in.

The spacious king bedroom is on the main floor with a private porch. Its bathroom has double sinks, a Jacuzzi tub, and separate shower. On the top floor are 3 spacious bedrooms with large dressers and closets and private bathrooms. Two rooms have 2 queen beds each and one room has 2 queen bunk beds (extra long singles over queens) and a separate twin.

Being a part of the Beacon's Reach neighborhood in Pine Knoll Shores, you have abundant activities on the beach and Bogue Sound. Enjoy use of 2 beautiful pools, a marina with day-dockage available (reservation required), tennis courts, and extensive off-street walking and biking paths. Plan a short excursion to feed the turtles in the lakes or fish and crab off the docks.

On the island are many options for restaurants with varying price points, boutique shopping, and entertainment. The historic Fort Macon is on the eastern most end of this Bogue Bank and the NC Aquarium is only a 5 min. drive away. The Crystal Coast Country Club is located 4 miles east and allows non-members playing time on their 18-hole golf course. Miniature golf, bumper boats, and race cars are just a mile away to the west for other fun activities.

Exquisite sunrises and sunsets and displays of stars are at your doorstep.

This was our 3rd stay at this beautiful home. The hosts continue to add amenities to make your stay easy. You really could just show up with your bathing suit and a cooler and have everything else you need for a week at the beach there for you! Believe the reviews. The house and hosts are top notch!

I wish I had words enough to convey how perfect our family vacation was...everything was arranged for ease, comfort, and just pure enjoyment. The house is first class, from the incredibly stocked kitchen, the access to the beach, the amenities galore and the grounds, furniture and beautiful decor...I cannot praise this property too highly. We were a group of 7 adults and two littles and the accomodations were spot on for everyone! Cheryl is an amazing, gracious hostess and was instantly available for even the most insignificant questions. We will be back next year!

Another great stay at the Tate beachhouse! ⁰

This is our second stay at this beachhouse. Our 3 generations find plenty of space, both inside and out. A well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, beachchairs, and many other amenities are available. There were very few people on the beach and the weather was great. We allhad a wo derful visit.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this oceanfront home! The house is incredibly clean, spacious, and welcoming — it truly felt like a home away from home for our family and friends during our week-long getaway. Wonderful stay

A wonderful family beach vacation

The previous reviews are spot on. All we needed to bring were clothes and groceries. Everything else was thoughtfully provided. Cheryl and Richard’s beach home is beautiful and comfortable. The welcome mats claim you as family and we felt the love.

The property is more than advertised. Spacious living areas. Kitchen is well stocked with all you can imagine to cook with, even a cast iron pan. Bedrooms were nice, each having it's own full bath. Beach access was easy and just a short walk. Although we brought our own chairs and umbrellas and used them, we didn't need to because the owners provided all things beach, plus kayak and paddle board. You can't ask for a better place. We hope to return and enjoy another wonderful week.

Beach Vacation

One of the best places I have stayed. This beachfront home had anything we could have needed and had things we wouldnt have thought about needing. We enjoyed the beach, the deck, hammock, biking around the area, sunrises and so much more. You can feel the love and care in this home

Absolutely the best beach house we have stayed at in over 20 years. It is clear the house is truly attended to by the owners and all of the "details" are covered, including cleanliness, amenities and even thoughtful and intentional decorating. It is clear the Tafts want you to feel at home while you are there and they do their best to make your vacation a wonderful experience. The location and neighborhood are icing on the cake. There are over 2 miles of wooded trails in and around the house to walk and multiple pools and a marina and yes, the house is also oceanfront! Our family intends to return many times!

Cozy port in the storm.

Hurricane Debbie sauntered through NC on our visit. Luckily for my family, we were staying at Cheryl and Richard's beach home. And it is a home. The Taft's built the home for their family and the love and care show. The floor plan is well thought out. The large living room area, with it's vaulted ceiling was great for watching the Olympics, or playing board games (the Tafts have provided many games and jigsaw puzzles). The kitchen is well stocked and has great site lines to the ocean. The private spaces are generously proportioned and provide a cozy space to get away for quite time. Large windows throughout keep the house connected to the outdoors. Outside, the house is snugged into the dunes and well maintained myrtle. It makes for a lovely, private experience. We did get to enjoy the beach between storms, but it was good to know that the covered back deck was only a moment away when the storm clouds returned! For a week at the beach during the remnants of a hurricane, we couldn't have asked for a better retreat! We look forward to returning to enjoy all the outdoor amenities that we missed out on this trip.

Probably our best beach stay ever!

We had an amazing week at Cheryl’s beach house. First, the pictures don’t do it justice. This place is very way bigger than I thought. All 12 of us (3 different families) had plenty of room to spread out and have privacy. Even the bunk room had enough extra space on the floor so the kids could play board games. The property is beautiful, the trees and driveway look like they are out of a fairytale. There is plenty of outside space, the middle deck wraps around the house. The kitchen was very well stocked, including lots of plates and silverware. And the ice machine! I’m hooked now, I never knew I needed one! The water is filtered but still tasted a little “beachy” to me, but not a deal breaker. The beds are firm with real cotton linens. The en suite bathrooms are a big plus and we never ran out of hot water. And the beach!! Beautiful sand and water, not crowded at all. We even found 3 shark teeth during our stay. The house comes with fancy beach chairs and beach towels. It saved us so much room packing. There is an outside open shower with a rinse off hose near the beach. And a hose on the deck which was helpful in keeping sand out of the house. I could go on and on about all the extras that aren’t even listed: toys, board games, body boards, books, decor, houseplants, bikes, even kids scooters! The community pool was also a big hit with our group. Needless to say, we hope that we can return next year. Thank you so much Cheryl!!

Staying at this property is like going on vacation with your parents when you were younger and they have already thought of everything before you get there. What a unicorn of a property to actually feel like you are staying in someone's home and not someone's empty rental! Every kitchen tool you could dream of, proper toilet paper thickness and stocking, kids' toys that made me put my kids' toys right back in the car when we got there. Not to mention the extensive decks, beautiful plants and decor that makes you feel right at home. We were spoiled this trip and kept saying, "I can't believe we get to stay here!" This property has ruined us for standards of living on vacation in the future. If you have kids, book this now! Don't look at any other property!

This house is gorgeous, well laid out. Clean! The Tafts have done everything to make their home comfortable for guests. The kitchen was a joy to work in & everything you would need. Grandkids loved the hammock, playing chess, sleeping in the bunk bedroom together, going over for pool time, feeding the turtles & of course all the time jumping & bobbing in the waves! We had a wonderful week with our family, making memories. Cheryl was great to work with & we met Richard briefly & what a nice guy!! Highly recommend staying here & would stay again. McLeish Family

I rented this house for a week for 5 adults and 7 children. The accommodations were perfect for our group. There were plenty of bedrooms and beds to fit everyone comfortably. The living areas were spacious and the children appreciated all of the inside toys available, as well as the beach toys and outside toys. The kitchen was very well stocked with supplies to cook meals. The second refrigerator was helpful with so many people. The upper and lower decks were fantastic! The view of the beach and the quick access to it were very much appreciated. We sat on the deck quite a bit and enjoyed the summer air. The locking gate made using the upper deck very relaxing, even with small children. We also visited the nearby swimming pool, which was just a short walk from the house. It was handy to be able to swim in a pool when the ocean currents were too strong. Entering the house upon arrival was easy, as was closing up the house upon departure. I appreciated Cheryl keeping in close contact for any questions during our stay. I would highly recommend this property for anyone to rent!

We designed and built this home in 1994 for vacation use for our growing family. During Covid and retirement, we escaped here for 3 years and loved being here on a more permanent basis. We have never rented our beach home, but found new travel opportunities and visiting kids and grandkids provide a wonderful time for us to share this nurturing place with other families. We hope you will find this as rewarding an experience as do we.

Along Bogue Banks, there are limited places that have protected the beautiful Maritime Forest and expansive dynamic beaches; Pine Knoll Shores, and especially Beacon's Reach, has carefully imposed regulations for these protections. Initially owned by the Rockefeller family, the 200 acre development was principally designed by Larry Zucchino, the landscape architect hired to design a community from sound to sea that integrated well within this delicate ecosystem. This appealed to us.

On windy days, the beachfront deck, surrounded by trees, provides a secluded gathering place.
