This room is gorgeous, and the central hub of the house. Sit around the enormous wood burning fireplace, ample seating, and direct access to the kitchen and the back deck.

* Sleeping Areas *
This lodge has 7 spacious bedrooms! King mattresses in six rooms and blackout curtains make every room a great place to sleep.

The primary suite is a stunning private room on the main floor with a walk-in closet, sitting area with fireplace, walkout to the porch, and a two-person jet tub. It’s warm and cozy and romantic, with beautiful views into the backyard.

The second level has four bedrooms, each with a comfy king size bed. Two have additional loft beds. The Castle Room also contains trundle beds and is decorated for the kids.

Two of the bedrooms on the second floor share a full bathroom (and laundry space), a great layout if you’re sharing this lodge with multiple family units.

Both bedrooms in the walkout basement have sitting areas if you need some alone space, and one of the bedrooms includes a desk area for study or work.

All bedrooms are outfitted with comfortable mattresses and linens to ensure you have an enjoyable stay.

* The POOL! *
At Wonder Bear Lodge - Outdoor
The pool is huge! It is 43ft by 21ft with a consistent depth of 42-44 inches of water throughout. The pool has an extended season of mid-May to early Oct (weather permitting and swimmers committing as it is not heated). The pool is fully fenced but is open water so please be extremely cautious! Additional pool rules are posted on the porch. We want you to have the best time and that means being safe!

At Apple Canyon Lake - Outdoor - Heated
Just 10 minutes away is an amazing pool with divinnboards, basketball, and zero entry kids area! Access to Apple Canyon Lake's heated (80* normally) pool is included!

INDOOR POOL!!
Just 7 minutes away, we can arrange for all day access to the local indoor pool. *Availability is for reservations over 3 nights from Oct-April, when scheduled in advance and based on availability.

* Game rooms: time for fun! *
This home has two separate game rooms. The large den downstairs has a pool table, large screen Roku TV, and foosball table. Upstairs, there is an air hockey table and a smaller Roku TV area. This room also has a study nook, and well-equipped workout area.

Guests can self-check in with an electronic keypad. Guests must be able to comfortably navigate stairs, as there are four front steps up to the front door (plus stairs to the upper and lower levels).


* Apple Canyon Lake Amenities Are Included - Woohoo! *
While staying with us you will have access to Apple Canyon Lake’s marina, beach, and pool. 16 guest passes and a parking pass are provided.


* Other buildings on the property *
Onsite is an 1850s schoolhouse and a large storage unit with long term storage rentals and future location of additional fun! Sorry, no access to either of these buildings (yet!) for your safety. Please stay off the schoolhouse porch, and don’t try to enter - this building needs some work! Currently, no access to the garage or the treehouse; the treehouse also needs a few modifications before it becomes kid safe.

Welcome to the country where the city is far and fun is near!
The neighborhood is farm and ranches with a mile or more between neighbors. There's no light pollution and access to town is just 5 miles away!

We stayed at the Great Big Log Cabin in Stockton, IL the week before our daughter’s wedding, and it was the perfect home for our family. The house was laid out beautifully, making it easy for everyone to relax and spend time together. Everything was very clean and well supplied.The kitchen was spacious and extremely well stocked—perfect for cooking and sharing meals as a family. We loved the multiple conversation areas and the large main living room where we could gather and unwind at the end of each day. The air hockey, foosball, and pool tables added plenty of fun for everyone.Our host was wonderfully responsive to all our questions and needs, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We highly recommend the Great Big Log Cabin and hope to bring our family back again in the future!

Beautiful property, the photos are very accurate. If anything, it's even more spacious than the photos show. Everything is very well layed out, the kitchen is spacious and had everything we needed for utensils, platters. The pool and hot tub are big and in great working order. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great property with lots of room to spread out. Most impressed with 6 of the 7 bedrooms having KING beds.... this was one of the reasons we chose this place as all of us were adult couples! And all the beds were comfortable!

This home is ideal for a family stay. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms makes this home a great place for large families and/or grandparents staying with their kids and grandkids. The hosts have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and fun. For the young ones, a toy room, foosball table, books to read and a massive pool with floates, noodles. There is also a hot tub.The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils, pots and pans you need. The coffee bar is fully stocked. The Blackstone grill is ideal for cookouts. The house offers plenty of space and quiet nooks where you can read a book, listen to music or just relax. As a guest, you also have access to Apple Canyon Lake pool and all of the other amenities at this recreation area.The check-in process is easy and convenient. The hosts provide you with plenty of information on the area, including Galena. The hosts respond in a very timely manner to any request, question or concern. The check out process is very well outlined by the hosts.

Great property for a family vacation. Pool was awesome for all the kids. We also really enjoyed all the amenities that you have access to: private beach, hiking trails, community pool. House is huge which allowed the family to spread out and everyone was very comfortable.

Multi-Family Gorgeous Cabin

We booked a weekend getaway to celebrate my birthday. It was a total of 10 adults and 4 children (3 - 10 yo, and 1 - 13 yo). Other than a quick trip to the grocery, we didn't have a need to enjoy the nearby resort. The picture and statement about the house being HUGE is not an understatement. Each couple and adult were able to have their own room while the kids slept in the same room or could opt to take advantage of a loft or nook in their parent's room. The pool is unheated, but once you get past that initial cold shock it was a great activity for the kids while the adults could watch from the hot tub, patio or upper deck. They have ample pool toys and towels and several gates to ensure the safety of smaller children. There aren't any neighbors so we were able to play our music freely and have fun doing kaoroke with mics without disturbing others. The bathrooms are large and include handsoap, towels, and body wash dispensers. We are a group who likes to cook and eat together, so it was important to make sure the kitchen and dining space accommodated all of the guests. Between the dining and kitchen tables and kitchen counter seats, there was plenty of room for everyone. We were able to play family games at the dining room table with both the adults and kids. As much as I like to explore different areas, we may rebook in the near future when the weather is warmer to enjoy the pool and the resort more. Mara was always prompt in responding to my questions & giving direction.

From the listing to the weekend and after, it was a perfect stay. The hosts were prompt, courteous, and so helpful - even dropped off dish soap for us within minutes of asking! Our family weekend was excellent and the house was the perfect size for all adults to feel comfortable and safe. House was clean, stocked, and inviting. Would stay here again!

Fantastic family weekend!

We had such a wonderful time together & were so happy with the cabin! It was so spacious with room for everyone. There was everything there that we needed, from the most well stocked kitchen to the many comfy king-sz beds to games for everyone - and even a stroller for the little one! Our host Mara was so accommodating that there was also a Christmas tree and holiday decor to add to the warm ambiance. Mara was a delight to work with; the property was awesome; and we've already talked about another visit there. You won't be disappointed with this lovely home.

Fantastic place for a large group.

HUGE, HUGE, HUGE! Beautiful place, plenty of room, lots to do, comfortable. Lots of small areas to get away and relax, unwind or read a book. The Lodge is huge, the pool is huge, the dining table is huge, the patio area is huge, the couch is huge and finally, the Master Suite is huge!

Wonderful Gathering Spot

This ‘cabin’ was a beautiful home for our annual ‘girls’ trip. Lots of room for gathering! Great kitchen for entertaining. Beautiful location. Everything you could want for a large group. Highly recommend!

The perfect house !!

What a wonderful vacation for our whole family !! We had a large group of adults and grandkids - and there was truly something for everyone! You can tell the owners care and put alot of attention to detail and extra add-ons throughout the entire house. It was very clean and tidy and had loads of blankets and towels which was so appreciated ! A large gourmet kitchen fully stocked , 2 game rooms , kids books/toys , a huge pool and clean hot tub , king beds for every family as well as a castle bedroom for the kids to sleep! It was the perfect house ! Thank you to our host for being so quick to respond , kind to answer all of my questions , and letting us make core memories at their home. We will definitely be back and already are planning our trip next year ! Thank you Mara !

Girls weekend

This property is amazing! It feels like the space is never ending. Everyone had their own bed. The house was stocked very well! The only complaint is that it is 30-35 min from Galena so it is quite a drive, but otherwise everything was perfect!!

Beautiful Place

The home was beautiful and very cozy. The beds were great with soft sheets. Lots of fuzzy blankets everywhere. We also really enjoyed the fireplace. The host was amazing with quick responses and making our stay wonderful.

Family Christmas

We really enjoyed this place. We had 9 adults and 4 kids. More than enough beds and space for all, with room leftover. The addition of the hot tub made everyone happy. We plan on coming back in the summer to be able to use the massive pool. Great communication with the host.
