Overview

About the property

Apartment, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 1-2)

Explore America’s first registered historic neighborhood from our cheerful guest apartments, perfect for short visits or special-rate extended stays. Not only is the Armory Park Neighborhood filled with vintage homes such as our circa-1902 adobe, but it’s also perfectly located for those who want to explore the heart of Tucson.

We're nestled right in the beating heart of this fascinating old frontier town. We also offer a sanctuary where you can take a break from driving.

Leave your car behind, and stroll downtown with its new explosion of restaurants, and to adjacent North Fourth Avenue's dozens of boutiques and shops. Or walk around the corner from our apartments for a burger and cold ale on the outside terrace of the popular neighborhood micro-brewery.

Feel like venturing further, and need tips for uncovering Southern Arizona's hidden charms? Just ask your host, who works as a freelance travel writer and journalist.

Then there are the apartments. Our sunny studios feature fully equipped kitchens--complete with coffee makers, toasters, microwaves, utensils, pots and pans--and bathrooms with towels and toiletries. We have comfy armchairs for reading and relaxing, and outside tables for shaded breakfasts and relaxing. The apartments are equipped with quality linens and comfortable bedding.

The apartments are smartly furnished with modern touches, and securely tucked alongside our home's Southwestern garden inside a gated, well-lit property. Your hosts live here as well, and are always on hand for questions and chats.

We designed our studios with visiting academic and traveling professionals in mind—or those simply seeking a bit of soothing, affordable refuge. Relax with our complimentary WiFi, linens, toiletries, streaming TV, cold AC and hot, freshly ground gourmet coffee.

Check, cash or credit cards are accepted.

No pets or smoking. And though we love kids, the apartments aren't well-suited to them.

Why Tim Vanderpool chose Tucson

We purchased a home here because we enjoy this old-fashioned, historic neighborhood. The vacation rental is on the same property as our home.

What makes this apartment unique

This is a wonderful area for walking, with tree-lined streets and friendly neighbors. There's also a great view of Tucson's famous 'A' Mountain.

Comfortable and very clean.

Good bed!

Nice area, interesting community. Great location. Walking distance to local restaurants and bars and also to down town to catch the light rail.

Perfect

We had a great time at the Hideaway. So convenient to everything we wanted to do. Tim was great with suggestions. Spring for the orange juice at the 5 Points Market and Restaurant.

Great priced winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had never tried HomeAway/Vrbo before and after such a positive experience, it won't be our last. The size and amenities of the Armory Park guest house was just what we needed for our stay. It was clean, airy, and comfortable bed. Loved the outdoor patio to soak up the AZ sun. The location of the property made it easy to try out the up and coming downtown restaurants and breweries. The owners were very friendly to us and made us feel welcome.

Beautiful hideaway in the middle of everything!

  • 5 of 5

The location of the property was ideal for us – such easy access to downtown, while still in a residential area. One of the pleasures was just walking around and soaking in the character of the Armory Park Historic Neighborhood. The easy walks to the Barrio Brewery and 5 Point Restaurant were definite pluses. Owner was easily available and attentive without being "too" present. His advice on interesting buildings to visit was dead-on; we thoroughly enjoyed it all: from St. Xavier del Bac to the Congress Hotel, and all the stops on the Turquoise Trail. It really is a beautiful place. Having lived in older homes, we know how much effort it takes to keep them up and running, and Tim does wonderful job with the property: clean, well-functioning, and beautifully laid out to provide for appropriate levels of privacy and interaction. After leaving this place, we stayed in a 4-star hotel, where we had trouble with our key-card and wi-fi access. We looked at each other and said “wasn’t like this at Tim’s!”. We also truly appreciate the all the little “extras” that were not expected, like the fresh cream and dark roast coffee and access to the washer and dryer. It was a true pleasure, our brief vacation such a wonderful experience!

Gem in the city of Tucson

  • 5 of 5

A gem in the heart of Tucson. We loved being in the city, in a real neighborhood. Convenient on-street parking. The apartments are bright, thoughtfully and uniquely decorated, well-appointed and immaculate. The outdoor spaces are wonderful for relaxing and enjoying the sun. Tim's expert "insider" tips, insights and advice and his friendly, easy-going manner made our stay in Tucson so much better than it could have been! There is so much to do and see in the Tucson area that is readily accessible from this location. We will definitely return :)
