About Bill and Nancy Moeller

We're a Foreign Service family of five, having spent most of the last 20 years working and living overseas. But our favorite place in the world -- where we always come back between tours -- is beautiful Idaho. After many years of looking, we were finally able to find and buy our dream home outside of Boise in 2010. Unfortunately, we won't be able to live in Idaho full-time for a while, so in the meantime, the house will be available as a vacation rental. We're sure you'll enjoy it as much as we do! Why Bill and Nancy Moeller chose Boise

The location just outside of Boise offers the perfect mix of wilderness and country living with close access to all the conveniences and amenities of one of the nicest and most liveable state capitals.

What makes this house unique

We and the kids love all the wonderful things there are to do here year-round, including swimming in the swimming hole in nearby Moore's Creek, tubing down the Boise River, white water rafting on the Payette River, boating at Lucky Peak Reservoir, snow skiing at Bogus Basin, hiking in the nearby mountains and taking day trips to nearby attractions like historic Idaho City. And when we need a taste of civilization, Boise is just a 40-minute drive away. If you like outdoor activities, wide open spaces and breath-taking scenery, you're going to love this part of the country as much as we do!

So peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. It was so peaceful to wake up in the morning and sit out on the deck to enjoy the view. Everything that you could want was available in this house.

Amazing home in the wilderness with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

What a way to spend three beautiful summer days near Boise! The house was welcoming, clean and had stunning views from all the windows. We hiked in the nearby private wilderness and saw birds and butterflies along with wildflowers. It is a very peaceful location. Though in the high 90's and 100's while we were there, the house had ceiling fans and the air conditioning was well functioning.

I very much enjoyed the master bath soaking tub while looking out at the beautiful scenery. A+

The view of river valley was breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house beautiful view sightings of wildlife just about everyday. The king sized bed was really comfortable. The road going up to the house is frightening, especially if you are not used to driving in mountainous terrain.

Jaw Dropping View!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful property with nice, tasteful upgrades and decor. The upstairs was finished in the last 5-10 years, still feels new. The downstairs basement isn't open to renters as it's not finished, but will be great once completed. Although there are some neighbors to the side, you still have near total privacy and feel like you have the full mountain to yourself. Lots of wildlife to watch. About 20 mins to Idaho Falls and 45 mins to Boise. The road up to the cabin is a bit tough to find and can't trust google maps, rather read the property description and other reviewers. Also worth noting that there's no cell coverage at the cabin or the drive up the mountain, so be sure to be prepared before you go. We'll definitely be coming back some day to enjoy the cabin/house again.

Wonderful house at a wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

This house at this location was exactly what we were hoping for when we were looking to stay just outside of Boise. The views from the house are breath-taking and the house itself is very comfortable and spacious. Our family of six had plenty of room. We also ate and/or prepared all but one of our meals there, which was a huge money saver for us.

I have to say, though, that I was so grateful we were there during a dry spell as I'm not sure our two-wheel drive, loaded-down minivan would have made the trip up the hill to the house under other conditions. Be warned and plan accordingly!

Some highlights of our stay: Idaho City Hot Springs (make reservations because if you just show up they might be full and you will be out of luck), Mores Mountain hike (long drive, but so worth it!), Boise Farmers' Market on Saturdays 9am-1pm (not sure if this is year-round or just spring/summer), downtown Boise and various walks along the Boise River (there are miles of trails!), and the Oregon Trail hike in the southeast end of town. On our way to Yellowstone after our stay, we went to the Bruneau Dunes and hiked to the top - it was amazing!

Thanks so much for sharing your home!

Spectacular living room view

  • 5 of 5

The view from the living room on a stormy night with fork lightning was incredible. We just laid on the couchs turned off all the lights and watched the show ! The house was decorated beautifully and had all the amenities we needed. The cabin was a little hard to find but if you make some mental notes the next time it is easier. We wouldn't recommend ever going up at night as it is hard to tell where you are. Elk around the cabin area were plentiful. We also saw a doe and her 2 spotted twin fawns. The only criticism that we have is that they need to do quite a bit of weed maintenance especially with summer coming.
