Great, quiet getaway

Ours was just a quick trip, but we still were able to see Natural Bridge, the Safari Park, and spend a day hiking and on the river. The little cottage in the woods had everything we needed and we are already talking about returning in a different season.

Just what we needed

My brother and I work a lot and do not get to spend a lot of time together so this trip ended up being exactly what we needed. The trip timing could not have been worse but it all worked out thanks to the great hosts Mitch and Bobbie. We went during Hurricane Helene so like I said not the best timing on our part. First, I want to say that Mitch offered to refund me all of my money back because of the storm but I refused the offer because I so badly wanted to go. We got to the cabin which is exactly as described but there was a tree down blocking the road. No big deal we broke some limbs and went on through. Not long after getting to the cabin Bobbie called to check on us and to make sure we got there safely-how sweet. Then I told her about the tree and the next day (keep in mind this was in the middle of Hurricane Helene) the tree was all taken care of. This is not the place to go if you are looking for a spa hotel but if you want some good hiking, relaxation, fishing, and just "old days fun" this place is like heaven. There is also a book that lists all the fun things to do in the area. I will say Dragon's tooth is close by as well as other great hiking options for all skill levels. Will definately book again(even during a storm) because a wonderful host will make any trip seem amazing.

Amazing Spot

This is an older cabin so do not expect luxury. The spot is all about the privacy, view, outdoor space and access to a a lovely creek with easy launch of your own or provided kayaks. Lots of smaller red eye bass to catch The stream water is crystal clear and great for the dogs. Shade in the evening for the enclosed porch. Great internet signal if you can’t leave work behind. The nearby Roaring Run hike is spectacular when open. Nearest real grocery is 30 minutes away so pack well.

Friend weekend getaway

Our stay on Craig Creek was wonderful! The weather was incredibly windy so we couldn't do much on the creek and lost power due to the insane winds Saturday but it was so lovely to be outside and exploring the area right around the cabin. Mitch reported the outage for us and called us when the power was restored to ensure everything was ok. The porch bedroom was amazing as well! It was so nice to wake up with the creek and mountain view directly in front of you and we could see the stars at night from our bed!

Camping Lite!

I stayed at this property at the end of October with my husband and 2 kids (ages 11 and 14). We loved Cottage on the Craig and would definitely return. We called it "camping lite" - all the benefits of camping (beautiful outdoors, camp fire, peace & quiet) with all the basic amenities - running water, comfy beds, a fully stocked kitchen. I felt like the cottage was well represented by the listing. It was very clean and smelled nice and fresh and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The area in general is gorgeous, and the property itself was very pretty. This is not at all a secluded spot (there are houses/camps on either side), but it was still very quiet and peaceful. The WiFi wasn't great (although this is a bonus for us, as it forces our pre-teen/teenager to unplug for a bit), but we were able to enjoy a couple minutes of football in the living room before bed one night. We couldn't get really get on the WiFi at all in the bedroom, but it was not like we were there to watch TV or be online, anyway. We cooked one meal on the campfire and several on the stove - the stove was pretty old and a bit tricky, but it got the job done. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything that we needed. This cabin wasn't fancy, but it was cozy and comfortable and felt unique. We loved it!

Came for a wedding, wish I stayed longer

When I say this place is peaceful, I mean it. It was such a lovely change from my normal pace of life. I was able to enjoy a cup of coffee overlooking a small river and just enjoy the sounds of nature with no interruptions. Taking the kayak out for an hour was a treat too. The cabin is old school, but that’s what made it so lovely. I don’t think I turned on the tv once; I just enjoy the peace and quiet. Bring some beer and a book to read while you enjoy the mountain landscape. My only complaint is that I wish I had planned to stay longer!!!

Perfection

This sweet cabin is the perfect mix of rustic charm and "lets live in reality" necessities. Could not ask for it to be cleaner, or cozier. Many thanks for sharing the peace and quiet with two very exhausted humans and one recently adopted dog who LOVED every minute in your slice of heaven!
