About Dan

Dan owns rental stores and Cathy is a nurse in a cancer center. We have one dog, eleven horses and twenty head of cattle. Our travels have included great rentals thru the VRBO website.

Dan purchased this barn in 1999

Why Dan chose South Central

Cathy and Dan built the house and barn while raising their four children, fourteen years ago. Now that the kids are gone; we're finding that we have lots of space to share. The apartment was built for our son and his wife six years ago. They moved into their own home, so we decided to give vacation rentals a try.

What makes this barn unique

Guests can enjoy rest and relaxation away from the city. It's an opportunity to experience a real farm while sightseeing and enjoying our lovely valley. The apartment size is approximately 1200 sq feet. Very peaceful, quiet, lovely sunsets can be viewed from the hot tub. We farm hay, so 3-4 times each summer guests can view the harvest and smell fresh mowed hay. Pets love it here!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Enjoyed Whitman Mission and wineries. What a wonderful sweet cozy setting to reconnect and find rejuvenation in.

We loved it!

We loved this spot. Quiet, clean and super nice. Everything you need is there plus a hot tub that we enjoyed. Loved the patio and the quiet. Great place to come home to after wine tasting!

Absolutely wonderful if you want to relax

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here. The living space was amazing. Our favorite bit was having the night time fires out on the patio while looking at the abundant amount of stars. Only a 4-5 mile drive to most of the wineries and only about 10 minutes from downtown. We would highly r commend this and will certainly be looking here again next time we are in Walla Walla.

Unique locale and friendly host

  • 5 of 5

Nice and comfortable with all amenities plus horses, cattle, and a cute barn kitty.

The kitchen was well equipped unlike some other short term rentals. Owner friendly and helpful. Thank you, Dan!

A perfect place to get away from it all and relax

  • 5 of 5

The barn is a truly unique place. We've stayed in a number of B&B's, boutique hotels, private homes, and the like, but this home away from home is different and really great. Anyone who has ever lived on or worked (or even visited) a farm will immediately relate to the vibe. The pace is relaxed, there are horses and fences and bales of hay and farm equipment right next to you, yet the living space is comfortable, clean, and quiet. It's a great place to relax. The location is awesome, only minutes from Downtown Walla Walla but far enough away to feel like you are in the country. As mentioned, everything was clean and in excellent working order. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms roomy and well-equipped. The kitchen had everything you would need to prepare meals of any size, and there is a nice large grill as well. Our small Havanese dog had a great time exploring the property and meeting Dan's large but very gentle counterpart, who came over to meet and greet us soon after we arrived with tail wagging. As the property description says, this is a working farm, and Dan works it daily. Dan was a great host, very friendly and helpful. It was good to meet him, and we hope to be back soon. Highly recommended!

A Wonderful Piece of Country Life

  • 5 of 5

We were so thrilled with our stay; living at a farm location. Where else can you wake up in the morning to peacocks, wild turkeys, horses and cattle? The place is peaceful and so relaxing. We loved the accommodations, done so well. The space was so comfortable and we had a lovely evening with an outdoor fire.

Also; if you are in love with dogs being greeted by the friendly furry staff was a big plus; if you are not into pets, they don't come around unless invited.

Lovely place to get away and relax

  • 5 of 5

The Walla Walla Farm Getaway was absolutely wonderful. The place is way more spacious than I expected, and it was perfect for two couples to get away for the weekend. The location was fantastic, easy to find, and extremely private. The beds and pillows were some of the best I've ever slept on, too! Thank you for being such a big part of our wonderful trip!
