My wife and I first came to Savannah in 2005. We sold a small rental home we owned in Peachtree City, GA and decided to re-invest in a rental home along the eastern coast. The search was on and it started in Savannah and we worked our way up past Charleston. At the end of the search we came to the realization that we love the look the feel and the general laid back vibe of Savannah. Although it is historic it has been updated to a modern hotel and when you enter you will feel like it is your new home away from home. Accommodations were above expectations. The exterior of the building was impeccably maintained. Reserved parking spot was right outside the entry courtyard. The third floor (top) apartment was roomy and comfortably appointed. Very clean. We toured the city on foot and felt the location could not have been more perfect. One block in from historic River Street. The property manager was easy to communicate with and the price was certainly right! I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Savannah.
This place, to me, is the best kept hotel "secret" in Savannah! Location is hands down the best! This was our first stay at Oglethorpe Lodge. It definitely won't be our last!
Great Location, Great Room!
We spent a week here in June and loved it. The location is right in the heart of Savannah. You are so close to restaurants, shops, and history that you never have to worry about running out of things to do. We enjoyed having a cup of coffee in the morning either in the courtyard or the living room and planning our day. The kitchen in the room is great for making meals and it is nice to have the refrigerator to store some leftovers.
We loved our stay here and are looking forward to coming back during or next trip to Savannah!
The best deal in town!
We spent three nights, 3/24 - 3/27/2013, in your one bedroom suite. Having stayed at numerous hotels in Savannah over many years we were not sure what to expect at Oglethorpe Lodge. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations! The suite is huge - all rooms are oversized with high ceilings. The bed was quite comfortable and the kitchen was completely equipped, even coffee was supplied. I think our favorite feature is the inclusion of an extra half bath - extremely rare in a one bedroom unit but much appreciated.
In recent years we always felt it necessary to request hotel rooms away from Bay Street as the traffic noise is disturbing day and night - it is still a main thoroughfare for many large trucks. The inclusion of an extra layer of glass and the presence of heavy drapes makes the outside noise almost inaudible.
We will definitely plan our next trip around the availability calendar for this unit and we have already told several friends and family members to seriously consider it when going to Savannah.
Stayed St Patty's Day Weekend. Great Location!
We stayed at the Oglethorpe Lodge the Weekend of St Patrick's Day. Great location on the parade route. We stayed in the top floor suite and it was a great space. Full kitchen, living room, 1 bedroom and 1-1/2 baths. Plenty of room for my wife and myself. The rooms were exceptionally clean and very nice. We could walk to everything and spent the whole weekend exploring Savannah and enjoying the parade on the big day. When we return to Savannah we would definitely stay at the Lodge again.

Oglethorpe Lodge is located right across from the Savannah Riverfront. The Riverfront offers magnificent views of the river and any boats traversing the river. The Riverfront is also a popular area for shopping, unique restaurants and bars, and art galleries. Oglethorpe lodge is also located just steps away from Solomon's Lodge, which is the oldest Masonic lodge in Georgia and was founded by James Oglethorpe himself in 1734. We're also located around the corner of one of Savannah's numerous city parks, Reynolds Park.
