About the property

Cottage, Studio + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3-4)

This cottage is on the property that once made up the Sacheen Lake Resort. It has a great view that looks across a wide expance of lawn to beautiful Sacheen Lake and across to the low mountains that surround the lake. There is a dock with a diving board and a beach with a firepit that can be used when there is no fire ban. Sometimes you can see an eagle looking for a meal from a tree down in front of the cabin. There is a volleyball court for the active among you. It is a beautiful tranquil setting where you can relax or be as active as you want to be. See us on Facebook at Old Sacheen Resort.

We also have an additional property on the same grounds we call the 'Big House'. Please see VRBO#306064

Keywords: Cozy cottage with lake view , sandy beach, dock, large lawn, volley ball court, covered porch, fishing

About Bobbie

I am a 80 year old grandmother who has owned a construction company since 1974. My oldest son and I are now partners in the business and the business owns the lake property. Since we bought this property it has been a work in process and it still is. We are very family oriented and have enjoyed working and playing together on this project. We have 3 children, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and this is a wonderful way to enjoy the family.

Bobbie purchased this cottage in 1993

Why Bobbie chose Northeast

When our children were little this was a very busy resort. My In-laws took theri trailer up at the beginning of the summer and then other members of the family would go up and camp or just fo for the day. There was a large camping area, some cabins, and a restauarant out by the road. Lots of companies held their company picnics there. We have had numerous people stop by to share their memories of the time they spent a Sacheen Lake Resort. One of our sons drove by one day and saw the for sale sign and we bought it. That was almost 17 years ago.

What makes this cottage unique

We anjoy watching the eagles and ospreys fly over and sometimes dive for food. Occasionally, we see a heron sitting at the end of the dock. We have seen turtles sunning themselves on logs, a few times we have seen deer come down for a drink and one day this spring we saw a coyote come down to the middle of the yard before being frightened away. I enjoy the view. The house and cabins are set back from the lake and there is a large expanse of lawn between the houses and the beach and we just have a wonderful view of the whole end of the lake. This is a piece of property that we could never replace. We have 7 acres of lake view property! We are truly blessed!!

Delightful!

  • 5 of 5

It was just delightful the 6 days and 5 nights my dog, Rory, and I spent at Eagle Vista Cottage.

For one thing, the blinds were always open because we didn't want to miss anything: the mist rising on the lake in the morning, the sun dappling on the water in the afternoon and the full moon shining overhead at night.

There was plenty to keep us busy: walking in the grass across 9 acres, (and for Rory running and playing to his heart's content), sitting on the dock watching the boaters going by, and just enjoying the solitude and quiet of the place.

The cottage was spacious and comfortable. It came equipped with everything we needed.

We're looking forward to returning because for us it worked on so many levels.

Thank you, Eagle Vista Cottage.

Beautiful and accommodating

  • 5 of 5

The cabin fit our family of 4 plus 2 small dogs perfectly, the view from our cabin window was gorgeous! We spent just one weekend and spent the majority of our time enjoying all the water toys available, paddle boating kayaking and the knee boards were a blast. The cabin was stocked with all the kitchen items you could need. Wish we would have had more time.

Perfect Little Place

  • 5 of 5

This small cabin was the perfect spot for our Memorial Day weekend. The beds are comfortable, the shower excellent and the wifi faster than at home. Although it's right off Hwy 211 you don't hear the traffic sounds. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept. The view from the cabin to the lake is I impeded and lovely. Everything needed was provided. It was just perfect.

Great, quiet relaxing place to enjoy wildlife and lake adventures - perfect for a family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful quick stay at the Eagle Vista Cottage and what a treat it was! We were lucky that the owners were on the property this weekend and Bobbie and Don were wonderful hosts. There is also a 3 bedroom 3 bath house available to rent but we did not stay in it.

Eagle Vista is an apt name for this cottage as the resident pairs of Bald Eagle and Osprey on the lake put on quite a show right out front of the cottage all weekend! The eagle flew right over the cottage with a trout in its talons! (The only way it could have been better is if he dropped it into the barbecue grill for our dinner!) From the property we also saw: great blue heron, turtles sunning themselves on a rock in the beaver pond and a deer that walked across the lawn.

The cottage is small and cozy at the far end of the property, so a little bit of privacy is possible if desired. Has a day bed and small pull-out couch (basically three twin beds) and a double size platform loft way up a steep ladder. A good size kitchen/bathroom for a cottage and nice and clean and well provisioned with all the basics. The barbecue grill on the small wrap around deck was much better than expected and we enjoyed it greatly! A small table for 4 at the front window has a great view of the lake. There is also a picnic table and benches on the deck or that could easily be moved to the lawn nearby.

Hiking is available just across Hwy 211 on property they also own. We hiked up to the old ski resort and had a fantastic view of the lake and valley from there. Next door is a small private park with benches and an interpretive trail identifying native plants. There is a beautiful volleyball pitch on the lawn and we were there when a truck of fresh white sand was brought in this weekend! A great fire-pit is next to the lake and would be wonderful for a wienie roast with the kids.

A pelican boat (foot-paddle) and two canoes are available for use. If you're inexperienced, be sure to bring a bailing cup along with you! (It took us awhile to figure out how to keep the water from coming over the front of the pelican boat due to strong wind on the lake and a cup for bailing would have allowed us to stay out longer!)

There is a small convenience store up the road for items you forget to bring with you!

We highly recommend a stay at the Old Sacheen Resort for relaxation and great family fun!

(Side note: My verizon cell phone had service here but Clearwire internet did not work.)
