Step back in time at Alta Vista, a beautifully restored 1931 Spanish Colonial-style property located just minutes from South Padre Island. With its arched entryways, stucco walls, original oak floors, and vibrant Talavera tile accents from Central Mexico, this historic gem offers a one-of-a-kind vacation experience filled with warmth, character, and comfort.

Originally built with timber, masonry, and handcrafted stucco, Alta Vista reflects the architecture of Old Mexico. Our family purchased the property in 2003 and began a full, authentic restorationā€”preserving the historic details while updating the space with modern amenities.

Very quaint the bed was a little too soft for my back. But loved the location the pool. Very peaceful and zen like. I would stay there again and again. Very clean as well. Loved it!

It was an artistic paradise. Peaceful and lovely. Definitely we highly recommend this location. Very close to SPI and yet offering the charming of Port Isabel. The host was very accessible and helpful. We had a great time.

Enjoyable Stay

My husband and I appreciated all of the colorful decor. Very pleasant to walk out the back door into the beautiful, maintained pool area. Appreciated the cushioned pool chairs and umbrellas for shade. Unit was stocked with all that we needed. We definitely recommend this rental and will come back again.

Sweet apartment with charming decor

We really enjoyed our stay at the Alta Vista apartments. The charming decor harkens back to old Mexico. Great color choices. The apartment was well appointed and very comfortable. It might benefit from a brighter bedside lamp or by adding another lamp but that's a minor detail. The pool area was very clean and adorned with beautiful potted plants. The apartments were also very quiet, making for a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Such a cute property!

Everything about the property was great! The courtyard area was lovely. The pool was warm. We loved our room! So nicely redone! Bed and pillows were very comfy. Beach towels were waiting for us, and plenty of bath towels. The only thing missing was handsoap and a small bar of soap for the shower. It wasn't a big deal or I would've asked or maybe I missed that it wasn't included. Just plan your trips to /from the island and don't forget anything - weekend traffic was crazy getting on /off the island!!!

Amazing Stay

All I can say is our stay was very relaxing. I really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. The rental was very clean and very quiet which was nice. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We will definitely book again.

Enjoyed Historic Alta Vista

Our hosts Courtney and Ike were wonderful hosts. They were always available should you have any questions or need anything. Very cozy, friendly feel at Alta Vista. Our unit was clean and all the essentials were supplied. Loved the location. We were able to enjoy our morning walks around the area. If one wanted to spend time at the beach it was a short drive over the bridge to South Padre Island. Population of Port Isobel is approximately 5000, so it is a relatively quiet town. Lots of restaurants. Grocery stores nearby. Would definitely recommend this property and really hope to go back. We loved it!

Great spot!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Alta Vista. Our 3 young children spent hours playing in the pool, chasing lizards, and enjoying the outdoor kitchen. Alta Vista was a pleasant alternative to the hustle & bustle of S. Padre Island (but only 5 minutes away). The complex has been restored to capture the historical spirit of Alta Vista. Wonderful place!

Wow, such a wonderful experience!

We were more than pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Alta Vista Apartments this past week. It is so inviting, quaint and comfortable. We stayed in a smaller efficient unit which was more than enough space for my husband and me. The owners were great in getting us the information we needed to access our rental, fast and easy! We loved the fact that we were able to walk directly out and almost into the pool from our room, we got in each morning... so refreshing! The court yard is a huge perk in that there is plenty of space, different areas for cooking out, dining, relaxing, even a little laundry area. We actually can't wait to come back, it was a great experience! Thank you to the owners for renovating this really cool apartment to be such a special place to visit.

Alta Vista Rentals are awesome!

This was the second year my Grandkids and I stayed in this rental, and both times I have not been disappointed! Courtney and Ike are amazing hosts, making us feel right at home! After our extended stay last July my Grandkids requested I take them back this year. Much better than staying on the Island. After a day at the beach you can relax at the pool and grill at the great outdoor kitchen. We will be back soon! Thank you Courtney, Ike and Bell for letting us enjoy your beautiful home! Gina

Super cute, close to everything but far enough to relax in peace!

The entire place was very well kept amd we had everything that we needed throughout our extended weekend. We were able to make most of our meals in the unit since everything was available and in great working condition! We had a blast and we were close enough to the action that the kids had a blast with all of what Padre has to offer but far enough away that we didn't have any lights, noise, or other reasons we couldn't relax in our own space! Even more than we had expected!

Courtney and Ike were super nice and took great care of us! We had all of the appliances we needed and they were top quality too. Usually when I see that appliances such as blenders are provided I get cheap quality, but they had a very nice blender, tervis cups, comfy beds, quality furniture and kitchen/bathroom. We've always been happy with our stays from HomeAway.com, but this by far was THE BEST place we have found! We have agreed to book our annual trip with Alta Vista from here on out! Highly recommended!!!

Quaint and quiet with incredible personality.
