About the property

Cottage, 5 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, large entertaining areas(Sleeps 11)

AUGUST 19-25 special - 5 nights only $3000 base rate! Come enjoy a beautiful waterfront home while summer wanes, days are sunny and long and water is warm! Take advantage of these 6 nights available for a discount.

DUE to ever changing water levels, the extent of a sandy beach cannot be determined for summer 2017.

Set on the beautiful eastern shore of Suttons Bay, allow Stone Terrace Beach Cottage to be your home 'up north'. Feel the sand and water of Suttons Bay right outside your door or enjoy a crackling fire in the wood burning fireplace. Stone Terrace Beach Cottage is available from Saturday to Saturday during the summer, and on a flexible schedule during the rest of the year. Off season weekend rates are available (see rates below)...please call for details.

Situated on a quiet rural road, two and a half miles from the village of Suttons Bay, Stone Terrace Beach Cottage is the ideal vacation destination with casual elegance in mind. The home which was professionally landscaped in 2002 and remodeled in 2007 has four bedrooms plus a 5th seasonal sleeping room (no central heat) or bonus room off the garage, two all tile baths, living room, dining room, and fully-equipped newly remodeled granite kitchen with upgraded Whirlpool Gold Series appliances and window AIR CONDITIONING on the main level!!!

The cottage accommodates a total of eleven utilizing the full futon in the bonus room. A main level deck located off of the living room, provides a great place to take your morning coffee, and stone steps lead to the lower deck where one can sun bathe or catch up with a good read.

Out the back door is nature’s opportunity to walk, jog, bike, or weather permitting, cross country ski!! Nature abounds everywhere!! The quaint village of Suttons Bay, which plays host to great restaurants, boutique shopping, and art galleries, is just a short drive way.

Nearby attractions include Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Leelanau Sands Casino, and the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Sprinkled throughout Leelanau County you will discover charming villages, wineries, antique dealers, and outdoor recreational opportunities, including access to Lake Michigan. Traverse City is just 20 minutes away, offering 'city style' entertainment for those so inclined.

Let the Stone Terrace Beach Cottage be your home away from home for a weekend or a week!!

Features include four bedrooms plus a 5th sleeping room or bonus room with a commanding view of the beach off of the garage; two bedrooms are located on the upper level and two bedrooms (and 5th or bonus room) on the main living level. Three of the bedrooms are furnished with queen beds, one has a full bed with twin bunk above comfortably accommodating nine (or eleven with futon in the seasonal sleeping room). There are 2 baths finished with imported Italian tile.

The Stone Terrace Beach Cottage boasts of 1850 square feet of nicely appointed living space with 2 bathrooms and 100 feet of private sandy beach with a sunset view over the bay. Shallow swimming on Suttons Bay (for the first 200 feet out it is now sandy due to low lake levels). Indoor fireplace and fire pit on the beach. New top of the line Whirlpool appliances with granite kitchen and stackable washer and dryer.

Beautiful landscaping and furnished outdoor deck areas. Weber gas grill. Air conditioning on the main level. Color cable TV with DVD. Wireless High Speed Internet. Pets accepted. Great walking, jogging, hiking out the back door. Village of Suttons Bay is two and a half miles away. All the amenities of home!

NOTE: The water level is rising and the beach area is compromised - I have no idea the size of the beach, if any, after the winter thaw. The firepit will be moved to the front lawn if the water level does not permit this to be beach side. The swimming is still spectacular!

Amazing property. Nothing to bring but your suitcase.

My stay was in the winter with lots of snow. I would like to return in the summer to enjoy the beach and view of the bay. Several decks to relax and enjoy this waterfront property.

Owner's Response: Happy to learn you really enjoyed the Stone Terrace Beach Cottage and amenities during your winter visit. That sure was some storm to experience during your stay too! I have to agree there are many living/entertaining areas at this home which take advantage of the unparalleled views and spectacular sunsets. Looking for your return visit to magical Leelanau County next month.

a lot of money --

  • 2 of 5

I paid close to 7-grand for nine days. We had a lot of gnats in the house -- and especially under the microwave on the vent to the stove -- it was so gross we ate most of our meals out.

The place was clean but also needs a deep clean in the nook and crannies. For spending 7-grand -- expect that to not be the case.

Location was good and best thing going for the house-- but neighbors asked kids to be very quiet when in water -- so would not recommend if you have active children. Everyone hears your conversation.

Great family vacation location

  • 5 of 5

Great location - less than 2 miles into Suttons Bay. Great shopping and good restaurants in town. Close to Hop Lot Brewery. Lots of living space and (2) decks made it easy for all the families to spread out, relax and enjoy the beautiful view. There was no beach this year because of the high waters but there are steps right into the water and is shallow for a long way so good for smaller children. We had 6 adults and 5 children and was very accommodating. Fully stocked kitchen with plenty of dinnerware available. Owner is very accessible and responded to any questions we had very quickly. It was a very enjoyable week.

Owner's Response: Happy to learn you enjoyed the waterfront Stone Terrace Beach Cottage with spectacular sunsets and unparelled views on the sandy shores of Suttons Bay. I have to admit the cottage does comfortably accommodate a group of 11. Hopefully you created some fond memories to take home-please consider a return visit to magical Leelanau county - Maybe make this a yearly visit?

Perfect for multiple families

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for our stay. My family (includes a toddler) and my friend's family (includes an infant) both wanted to be sure that we had privacy. We took the two bedrooms on the main floor and they took on of the bedrooms upstairs and there were still empty bedrooms. Beautiful view of Sutton's Bay and really close to Sutton's Bay Ciders (loved this newer place) and the Hop Lot. We hope to stay here next year with both sides of our family.

Also, last minute we decided to bring our dogs and Tom was super nice about it. We just left the additional fee.

You had a great weekend to create memories - please plan a return trip with the entire family so you can show off your new favorite place on earth!! Fall and even winter are great times to visit too - most of the county remains open year 'round! Looking forward to your return.

Returned for more

  • 5 of 5

Returned to Stone Terrace to celebrate our recent honeymoon and had a fantastic time again. Close to all the wineries for a safe day of tasting. One mile to downtown Suttons Bay and some great little restaurants and shops, and of course "Right on the Water". The views from both decks and in the house are amazing! Enjoyed beautiful, relaxing sunsets over and over again - awesome. Would recommend whole heartedly to everyone. We'll be back!
