Sun River is a 12-unit complex that is located along the Fraser River. Our condo boasts panoramic views of the mountains and is within walking distance of restaurants, retail stores, bars, shuttle stops, and the Fraser Library; it is also just a few minutes to the Fraser Snow Tubing Hill, Colorado Adventure Park, Grand Park Recreation Center, a new skating rink, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. Winter Park Ski Resort, a world class resort and Colorado’s favorite, is nearby. The ski resort’s five ski area’s--Winter Park, Mary Jane, Vasquez Cirque, Vasquez Ridge, and Parsenn Bowl--are interconnected and satisfy all ability levels. It is an affordable family resort with a wonderful Ski School and award winning terrain parks to challenge snowboarders. Why Carol chose Winter Park Area

After looking at properties in Vail, we decided to purchase a property in the Winter Park area because we wanted to spend our days skiing rather than standing in lift lines. Also, the resort has skiing for all levels from beginners to expert. We fell in love with the area during summer visits taking advantage of three lakes as well as Rocky Mountain National Park within 20-30 miles of Sun River. Our family also enjoys the Alpine Slide and biking trails in the summer at the resort.

Restaurants and local attractions in the area cater to families and offer reasonable costs. Local residents are welcoming and there is a real sense of community here.

Located in a small development of 12 townhouses, close to U.S. 40 and along the Fraser River, it is a quick trip to the Winter Park Resort.

Finally, not many properties in the area have both free WiFi and a private spa.

What makes this townhome unique

What attracted me to this property is that, unlike many condos and townhomes, there is plenty of space, natural light and views of Byers Peak and the ski area.

The private spa on the deck has a beaurtiful view of the ski area and the Continental Divide. The bedrooms are on the lower level while the living area on the upper level has doors and windows to add to the unit's warmth. There is nothing better than the warm Colorado sun streaming in to brighten a winter day!

Additionally, the other 11 townhouses are either primary or second homes for the owners that are used during ski season on the weekends and only sporadically in the summer. I hope you enjoy this property as much as my family has.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the wonderful place to stay. Loved the full kitchen with pots and pans. There is nothing better than a good hot soak in a hot tub running the mountain. Appreciated the WiFi very much.

It is an affordable family resort with a wonderful Ski School, where learners can actually practice on their own mountain in Discovery Park. There are also award winning parks to challenge snowboarders. The uphill lift capacity of 36,900 per hour ensures less time in line and more time on the slopes. Nice, spacious, comfortable condo

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay. The layout with the bedrooms downstairs and the living room, kitchen and dining room upstairs is very practical. Loved the private hot tub and all the space upstairs! Nice, large kitchen as well. My only issues (and they are minor) are that the master bedroom mattress is a little squeaky (Carol has said that it's being replaced this summer) and the upstairs floor creaks some when you walk around. It certainly didn't keep any of us awake, though. We would definitely return next year if it's available.

This place has it all!

  • 5 of 5

I'm not sure where to start. We had an incredible vacation staying at Carol's condo. The 2-level layout offers a perfect separation of living and sleeping areas. The hot-tub was well maintained and felt incredible after a day of skiing. The condo was clean and well stocked with toilet paper, hand soap, towels, cutlery, flatware, a coffee maker and cleaning products. The cable TV and wi-fi service worked great and with four of us taking back to back showers the hot water seemed endless. One of the things that we most enjoyed were the views. I was not expecting to see the slopes of Winter Park from the comfort of the living room couch. Each of the deck areas offer different views of the surrounding mountain ranges. There’s nothing like having your morning coffee while watching the fog float over the mountaintops. The location of the condo could not be more convenient, a grocery store, gas station, local restaurants and fast food are right around the corner. Yes, the decor is a bit dated but we didn't mind it at all. Everything worked great and I felt it added to the ambiance. We will definitely rent here again. Look no further, this place has it all.

Loved this townhome lots of space

  • 5 of 5

This townhouse was very close to Winter Park and on the shuttle route. We loved being able to cook in the spacious well equipped kitchen, and soak in the hot tub at night. The park next to it was great with all the trails.

Great location to Winterpark-hot tub was a treat!

  • 4 of 5

I will start by saying that Carol, the owner, was very professional and easy to work with. She replied to emails with questions very promptly and was receptive to all feedback after the rental. The townhouse is in a great location if you are skiing at Winterpark. Only a 10 minute drive and very close to grocery and gas stations. You park right in front of the rental so taking all your gear in is a breeze. The foyer has a great area for storing boots, snow pants and skis. Having a washer and dryer in the townhouse made it easy for a family of 5 to stay on top of laundry. A very nice bonus was all the amenities in the townhouse. I have rented through VRBO before and have never had handsoap, laundry soap, dish soap, body wash, kleenex, toilet paper, napkins, paper towels and trash bags provided. It was so nice not to buy all those items upon arrival.

The two bedrooms are in the lower level with two bathrooms and the upstairs has the kitchen, dining and living room. Off the kids bedroom with the two single beds (plus a surprise trundle) is the hot tub which we used every evening! There were plenty of towels for the hot tub and for the shower. What a treat to soak in the hot tub while it snows (head was covered with deck above us) and look out to the mountains. Very relaxing.

My only complaint would be that the decor and furniture are outdated. A new coat of paint, neutral carpet and updated furniture, beds and bedding would really make you feel like you are somewhere special. There were more updated rentals in the area available but the hot tub was a requirement for us so we looked past the dated decor. If I was in the area again, I would look forward to renting again, after it had been updated.

Owner's Response: Hi Mary, Thank you or taking the time to write such a thorough and thoughtful review. Based on your comments, it seems you had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. That is my goal for all of my guests. I agree, there is nothing like a soak in a private hot tub after a day on the slopes. I also appreciate your comments regarding updating the townhouse. I have been updating gradually each summer, but it is difficult to meet everyone’s expectations and tastes. Most recently, I replaced appliances, hot water heater, custom made window shades and drapes. I had planned to update bedding last summer, but the window treatments were not installed until October long after I had left the area. Before selecting the color for new bedding, I needed to see them in the room first. The good news is that I will be able to update bedding this summer along with replacing one of the two living room sofas. Fortunately, potential renters can view the décor in the accurate pictures that are on the VRBO site. As I make changes, new pictures will be uploaded so that they can easily decide if the townhouse with its amenities will meet their needs. Thank you again. Carol

This home has a very cozy and private feel. It is located very close to everything you can ever want to do, within 4 miles of everything! Great amenities, it feels like "you" own a home in the mountains.
