A very romantic space! The perfect atmosphere for the writer or artist. The large, open great room is inviting for yoga and exercise practice. A former church, this renovation has maintained a peaceful and meditative quality.A good place to make or listen to music. .Small back porch with a table and chairs.,Dogs are very welcome and the back porch area has a fenced in area they seem to like!!!!.Pretty bathroom with shower. The kitchen counter was once the counter in the old country store in the village of Lawsonham. The woodwork is beautiful and the high ceilings give one the feeling of freedom .The many windows invite the outside in. Come and rest a while, create, enjoy! So very close to the Lawsonham Rails to Trails entrance.Great opportunity for hiking and bicycling.!

About Mary Hamilton
I'm an artist and designer. My brother, who is co-owner has a history in preservation. We both have a life long love of antiques and the stories they tell.
Why Mary Hamilton chose Rimersburg
This church was on our great grandfather's property. It was built in the early 1890s and was an Episcopal Church until sometime in the early part of the 20th century. It stood empty for many year and in the 1960s our Mother opened an antique shop in the building. When my brother and I inherited the property we wished to preserve the structure and the history and have done extensive renovations trying to be true to the feeling of peace this structure possesses. Now there is s new addition with a bathroom and a fully functional kitchen. We wish to share this special space.
What makes this Guest House unique
The property is located on 80+ acres of mostly woodland. There is a pretty stream running through the woods. Wildlife abounds. When we were excavating for the septic system we uncovered some huge stones and built a stone circle near the church. A perfect place for meditation. It honors the memories of our Celtic forbears. The church is at the edge of the village of Lawsonham which was named after our ancestor who came her in the early 1800s. The Redbank Creek runs through it. It is not a very busy place now, although it once was, with hotels, a newspaper and a couple of stores. The counter in the kitchen area of our renovation came from one of the original stores in the village. At the bottom of the hill there is access to a Rail to Trails which is being developed. My brother lives nearby and is available for questions, solving possible problems and to make suggestions!

We loved the location, with local paths everywhere to hike and bike with in a quarter mile. The old church converted into a cabin was awesome :) the history of it was so cool!
My only complaint/suggestion was it wasn’t as clean as we’d hoped, but a quick clean up on our part when we first arrived was helpful. And our second suggestion would be a few more useful pieces of furniture in the living room, although I totally get the idea of antique furniture, after a day of hiking and biking all we wanted was a hot shower and a comfy couch to veg out for the rest of the night. But unfortunately there was only a love seat to share. Which this maybe great for others, so probably not a problem for everyone.
Thank you so much for your most helpful review.I did do a check for cleanliness before you came but must have missed something. That is very important to me.
Actually there is a very comfortable love seat with a big foot rest + a matching, soft, comfortable chair in the living room..Usually fine for two people but I will look for something to add. I always welcome suggestions.
Perfect spot for riding on the Redbank And Armstrong Trails -- and the dogs loved it too!
Thank you so much for your review! We enjoyed meeting you all!!!Hope you keep us in mind some time again!
Cozy & Private Cabin - Wonderful Owners!
The cabin is cozy and comfortable to stay in. Rural cabin. Deer in the back yard every night of the week. Owners are wonderful and helpful. I will definitely stay here again!
Thank you so much! I'm glad we enjoyed your stay and hope you visit us again! Hope you had a good trip home!
This place is wonderful. We came out for an isolated weekend and spent our time in the quiet, drinking coffee and reading.
The house is beautiful, comfortable, and warm (its 16 degrees outside). Our dog was welcomed and really seemed to enjoy the open floor plan.
I honestly can’t say an unkind word about the place. I found it to be calming an supremely restful.
I have every intention of returning in the spring for some fishing or any time I need to really rest.
Also, the ownership was super friendly and genuinely concerned that we enjoy ourselves. Very nice people.
PEACEFUL & PRIVATE
Fabulous couple of days at this nicely appointed private, peaceful villa. I re-connected with a previous lover and love and laughter filled every space of this beautiful church. We originally met in a church so this "new" re-meeting was perfect!
So happy that you enjoyed your stay at Avalon!!!
Quirky Country Church
Imagine your Grandmother ate magic brownies and then remodeled a 125 year church. Loved it but guessing it might not be for everyone. Great kayaking, fishing, biking (easy access to rail to trails, and some burley hills for road biking). Nice place to kick back and relax
20 miles from Clarion University and Interstate 80.Within walking distance to a Rail to Trails entrance.Great hiking / biking.
