Far from the madding crowds, look no further for a secluded mountain top getaway with breath taking views on the Eastern Continental Divide. Farside Cabin offers mid century rustic charm with unique modern amenities such as newly installed high speed fiber optic internet at 380 Mbps providing an ultimate getaway for couples and families alike.
Just 4 miles from the town of Black Mountain and 25 minutes from Asheville, Farside Cabin is located off the main thoroughfare of highway 9 South to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and numerous popular mountain trails, watering holes and water falls.
It is also a popular route for motorcyclists, bicyclists and only a 45 minute drive to some ski slopes in winter. Nearby are a YMCA with indoor pool, a racquet club with Pickle ball courts, shops and restaurants in Black Mountain only a few miles away.
Post note: Guests who may have never driven on mountain roads may find the last mile, a gradual winding incline and well maintained gravel drive to the cabin challenging. 4 wheel drive is only necessary during snow storms and prolonged rain storms such as hurricanes.

It is a lovely house with an excellent floor plan, providing different places to read, to watch television, to eat and to enjoy the view. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and easy to work in. Although the road was challenging, it was never a problem. The location of the house allowed easy access to all the highways.

Very nice rustic log cabin with a spacious modern master bedroom. Host was easy to communicate with. Drive to cabin was interesting on rural mountain roads. Would like to have some trees blocking the Mountain View from the inside porch cut shorter. Our dog liked the walks along the road.

Great location and view from the deck is awesome. I hiked the nearby road and trails. Kitchen was wonderful, plenty of room and cooking utensils. I spent a lot of time in the enclosed porch overlooking the woods and valley. I’m not much of a tv watcher, so I found the big screen tv in front of picture windows in the bedroom to disrupt my view when laying in bed. But that’s minor. I enjoyed the master suite and bath.

The absolute best part about this cabin is the amazing views. They truly make the stay worthwhile. While all parts of the property are definitely on the older side, the price is right, and it is a great overall value.You won't need a 4-wheel drive to get here; however, the long gravel road up to the house is a bit rugged, so a low-profile vehicle might struggle. The kitchen was well-stocked, and we had everything we needed to cook meals. The owner was incredibly responsive and sent a repairman right over the moment we had an issue with the washing machine.I highly recommend this property for a budget-friendly getaway!

Great stay in Black Mountain. Takes a little time to get their once you get off the hwy 9 but it is so worth it. Very secluded and great views. If you are looking to get away this is the place for you.

The description to get to this cabin is not accurate. You DO need a 4 wheel drive vehicle or SUV… this a goat trail road is not made for new cars you care about. Turn off from Hwy 9 very dangerous …have to get out of car in order to pull out safely… road condition seems to be washed out. Host was rude when explaining frustrations on getting to cabin. Would NEVER suggest anyone to support this host!!!

In the 10 years Ive been hosting guests I have never had anyone call our well maintained gravel drive a goat trail or complain to such a degree. However this guest used GPS even though I advise my guests not to as it takes them up the steep back emergency road- They also got on 9 at the south end which is a long winding 45 minute commute through bat cave lake lure and chimney rock- Approaching from I-40 Black Mtn via hwy 9 southbound is an easy 3 mile drive and a simple right turn into the road. I provide detailed directions so that my guests get to the cabin with ease up a mile of gradual winding incline covered in gravel. You do not need a 4 wheel drive except when its snowing. I will warn guests who have never driven on mountain roads not to book. I was at a loss as to how I could respond to the guest since I have provided detailed directions which was frustrating so I apologize if I was short. Our road has had millions spent on it for the full and part time community that live there and traverse it daily.

The host is very helpful. We had an excellent stay and would book again. The view is great and the cabin is well kept. AWD or 4 wheel drive is helpful to get here, but that’s how we roll! We had fun.

Lovely place to spend the weekend! Interesting place--one modern part and one rustic; best of both worlds! Well-equipped kitchen and host was amazing in terms of staying in touch. Got all checkin and checkout info right at the perfect time. Very quiet getaway. You won't be sorry if you book here! One tip: drive your vehicle that's good with stone/ruts in the road as the journey up the mountain is not for a compact car.

Beautiful deck and view

The place was cute and loved sitting on the deck looking at the view. The directions were hard to follow and tough on the gravel narrow road. The twin beds were very squeaky and were just a foam pad not mattresses. The place was a nice mountain cabin to relax in

Cute Cabin!

This was a lovely cabin on Black Mountain! It was very clean upon arrival with all the beds made (even the pull out) which was helpful. The view off the deck was worth the tense drive up the 0.9 mile drive up the gravel road. While a sedan did make it up the driveway, I would highly recommend four wheel drive or at a minimum a car with higher clearance. Overall this was a great stay and only 25 mins from Asheville! We felt safe the entire time which was important to us. I would recommend this cabin to those traveling to the Asheville area. Thank you for sharing your slice of mountain heaven with us!

The property is in a beautiful and remote setting. When traveling to and from the property it is best to have a SUV/ 4 wheel drive vehicle and I would recommend for your first time up to go during the day. We had a great time enjoying the views and quiet of nature.

Having lived all over the world in the diplomatic corps I have learned something about hosting guests. Ten years ago I decided to share my cabin as a STR and have enjoyed being a super host ever since. As a writer, artist and former retail owner of a gardening supply outlet, I take my guests needs seriously and try to be responsive and available to any situation that may crop up. It is very important to me that my guests have a pleasurable stay at my cabin and I will do as much as I can to ensure it.

I took up residence in this small mountain community 25 years ago and have watched it grow over the years. My neighbors are a tight knit community that work together to take care of our road year around with annual work days and pot luck meetings. They have been very kind about my sharing my cabin with guests for which I am most fortunate.

この宿泊施設の特徴

Some years ago I had a large addition added to my cabin which goes from rustic log cabin to modern bedroom bath with a deck overlooking the mountain view in between.
The couple I bought the cabin from built the cabin in the 70's and collected stones from all over the world which are in the fireplace surround which reminded them of their friends and travels.
