About the property

One-Room Cabin with kitchen, living and sleeping areas. 1 full bath/shower stal

Conveniently located near popular area attractions and outdoor activities, Fern Creek Cabins offer in-season (Memorial Day Weekend through November),, affordable vacation lodging in the beautiful mountains of southern West Virginia. Our cabins sit on 40 private acres of pristine hemlock forrest near the north rim of the New River Gorge National River..

For those who just want to relax, Fern Creek Cabins offers plenty of space to roam about the property. Our cabins have comfortable porches equipped with grills and hot tubs, outdoor fire pits, and lots of beautiful yard space for throwing horseshoes or playing softball.

We welcome well behaved pet.

We ask our guests to not smoke in our cabins.

While our 2 cabin's share the peaceful seclusion of the Appalachians, it is but a few short miles over New River Gorge Bridge to downtown Fayetteville, named 'Coolest Small Town in America.' Come visit, and take a walk around. You’ll find a vibrant shopping district and fantastic restaurants, windows to browse with lots to buy, and a lovely town park.

'Endless Wall Trail' lies a mile around the corner which tours one of the wonders of the New River Gorge -- the unbroken cliffline known as the Endless Wall, which follows the rim of the gorge and offers access to dozens of bolted climbing routes. Breathtaking panoramas await hikers as the trail leads along the top of the cliffs through gnarled pines, mossy boulders, and rhododendron thickets.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Tom/Janet,

Sorry it took so long but I would like to let you know how much Judy and I enjoyed our stay. It was actually the first "real" vacation I have taken since joining the Army in 1979. The location provided me peace and relaxation I forgot was possible. Depending on schedule and life's events, we plan to come stay there again some time.

Marion, your grounds keeper, was more than helpful. She worked to maintain the grounds like it was her own. Its hard these days to get good help that you don't have to watch out for or supervise all the time. She was "johnnie on the spot" everyday weedeating, mowing and making sure whatever we needed was taken care of. It was a most excellent vacation and adventure.

Again, had a fantastic, relaxing and rejuevenationg time. I hope to be able to use your cabins again in the future.

Thanks ever so much!

Tim & Judy

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful cabin! Everything we needed. We relaxed in the hot tub, went zip linning and hiking the following day.

Played cards on the back deck (left some cards for the next family) and cooked on the grill.

Great location. Bit back there but super nice for privacy. The gps took us past the cabin, but a friendly hound dog led us back to the correct road and we were good to go. If you are looking to go to the activities around the New Gorge Bridge, this is the perfect place to stay!

Great area

  • 5 of 5

Loved all the property where we could walk around. The fire pit was great and they provided the wood ( we took wood with us). Seen lots of deer. Had a great time. Would love to return for another visit in the future.

Cozy hide away

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is tucked away at the very end of a long gravel road; nice, peaceful, cozy and secluded feeling. We enjoyed our stay with the exception of a slight pest issue. We had a few yellow jackets in the cabin and my youngest daughter was stung by one that had made itself quite comfortable on her suitcase. With the exception of this, the location and cabin itself was good. We didn't use the hot tub, but it looked very clean, as did the rest of the place. We loved the memory book that was on the coffee table. It was filled with entries of previous guests with suggestions of things to do in the area and places to eat and also how they enjoyed their stay at the cabin. We had some great dinners out and also did some trails that were suggested in the book, which were very enjoyable. Overall a nice stay!

It served our purpose

  • 3 of 5

it was pretty much private except the other cabin nearby. The only problem we had with the other cabin so close was younger guys getting drunk and alot of noise. The cabin was good except the ceiling needs fixed badly where someone did poor drywall work and the shower needs re-sealed, leaks out into bathroom. And i should also state the bathroom and shower are tiny. Needs some updating and some maintenance done.

Owner's Response: So sorry your experience was not what you’d hoped. We were told by the guests in the other cabin that they were all responsible professionals in their forties :( The 150ft between cabins is usually quite sufficient for privacy. The issues with the cabin are all things we are planning to take care of this winter. We’ve started each off-season with addressing the most crucial needs like replacing the roof and windows. Last year the kitchen cabinets and counter tops were upgraded as well as adding new lighting. We have already purchased materials to cover the ceiling with pine planks to give it a more cabin feel. Replacing the bathroom shower stall is also on our list for this year. We are proud of the work we’ve done since purchasing the property and hope you will return when the upgrades are completed. It will be beautiful. Janet Fern Creek Cabins

Private Getaway Location

  • 5 of 5

Exactly what we were looking for! Property was well maintained and had everything we needed. Perfect place to get away from the city and relax. However, close enough to many outdoor locations for hiking, biking, climbing, or rafting.
