Immaculate and cozy, the host Anthony helpful, congenial and dependable, I love this place; it has become an annual stay. Beds are very comfy, kitchen is well provisioned for cooking or hosting. Lovely inside and outside, I highly recommend The Kitchie Kottage.
I would recommend this home very much because it was super clean and had everything you needed. The bed was so comfortable and that means so much when you’re already sleeping in a strange place. Anthony was quick to answer any questions and I’d recommend it without any hesitation.

Thanks for staying and your kindness. Guest’s positive experience is important to me. Hope to see you again!!
No complaints! Host was very quick to answer any questions; home was very cozy complete with Christmas decor! Added touches included lots of extra pillows and blankets for getting cozy on the couch. Appreciate basic spices available for cooking as well as extra toothbrush should you forget yours. He thought of it all. :)

Thanks for staying. It is important to me to assure guests have a great stay. It’s all about family and being “at home” even when addressing issues. Hope to see you again!!
My sister, friend & I went to the kitchie kottage for the weekend & had a lovely time. The house was extremely clean & very comfortable. The host went above & beyond with little details to make our stay cozy. We came to visit some old friends & this was the perfect little house for the weekend. Awesome price as well!!

Thanks you for staying. I hope you choose the Kottage if you ever return to the area!!
Property was very clean, organized and even provided plenty of snacks, Anthony had the air conditioner on when I arrived and it was nice and comfortable. Will definitely be in contact with this property again when I’m back in the area.
The Kitchie Kottage Could Also Be Called The Kozy Kottage
Very nice property - comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. The host was very responsive to our questions. We were in the area for a festival that unfortunately was rained out, so we ended up spending a lot of time at the property, but despite the bad weather outside, the house was cheery inside. I'll stay again next time I'm in the area.
The house was great. Had everything we wanted and needed.
Area left us feeling a tad nervous. Ended up being a quiet peaceful night.
Only downfall was going into town to get food. Very sketchy town. Are at maestros. Good food.

Not sure what was sketchy… Portsmouth is not a destination area typically yet wheelersburg is a better choice. Downtown is old and really only has Shawnee Cottage. Not sure how that reflects the cottage. Sorry for your input but glad you enjoyed the cottage and area we are located not being sketchy.
You could tell that host Anthony is caring and thoughtful. As soon as I walked in, I already felt at ease. I went through to see a fully equipped kitchen that let me cook a beautiful dinner for myself. The bathroom and rooms were so spacious and i was able to have the comfiest and most restful sleep clean and at peace. I don’t visit my family much in Ohio but with a VRBO like this in my back pocket, I don’t see why I would avoid coming back to.them sooner. (Also i was very grateful for the snacks and water Anthony provided. he didn’t have to but he did and for that i was the happiest of campers)

Decent Stay
The stay was decent. The house worked as intended for the weekend.
Pros:
-provided dishes and appliances worked well
-provided snacks were nice
-beds were comfy
-heat worked well
-check-out list was normal and didn't require anything outlandish
-outside area was cute, and comfy
Cons:
-kinda creepy to be honest. The basement and the attic were not locked which was unnerving.
-no blinds on any of the windows. On a corner lot it felt pretty exposed, Also the sunlight in the bedroom was rough with no way to block it out.
-lots of potpourii about, smelled like Grandma's house
-street parking, never awesome

Sorry about your concerns. There are not blinds on side street as home level is higher than ground. Curtains in bedrooms are light canceling if they are closed. The front door does have a blind to drop at your leisure. The basement does have 2 locks on it, both were secured on your arrival unless you unlock them, and the attic is secured and in your case had a high chair placed in front. If opened, it is blocked to avoid access. As for smells, we use plug ins as to the home being older and multiple guests , I did find them left on dining table following your stay, which leaked and lefts spots that damaged the dining table, maybe not a good spot to leave them in your future travels. This home is in a small quiet neighborhood and has parking directly in front and side, steps from both doors. Sorry you thought it was creepy. I am super proud of this quaint cottage from the 1950’s and yes, it is the Kitchie Kottage for that reason, and love grandmas house as do so many. Happy travels
I am a native of the area and moved away for years. This cottage is located behind my home and is a cute corner location. Hospitality is a priority to me. I love dogs and enjoy travels. Being a host allows me to share a great space, clean environment and the comforts of home, at reasonable rates. Please respect the home and the charm it has to offer.
Why they chose this property
This cottage is in the area of which I was born and where my family is from. It is a quiet part of town with easy access to main connections to 52 and 823 along with Shawnee State University, Southern Ohio Medical Center and Kings Daughters Hospital Portsmouth.
What makes this property unique
This cottage is sweet and comfortable. Orginal hardwoods and the feeling of coming home. Kick back and relax! Grandmas cottage!
