Cozy Cabin with Incredible Views

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the cabin offered us the perfect combination of relaxation and fun. The view of the bay from the deck is breathtaking. We spent much of our time at the cabin on the deck, watching sunrises, listening to the waves, watching eagles, and gazing at stars on clear nights. The cabin is in the perfect location for doing many fun things. On our way in, we did a short hike at the American Chestnut Land Trust and stopped to talk about organic gardening techniques with a volunteer at the Double Oak Farm. We spent a day at Point Lookout and at the Calvert Marine Museum on Solomons Island, where we got to tour a lighthouse and watch otters play. Watching the otters was such a joy. This was one of the best vacations we've ever had and we only had to drive an hour from home. We didn't want to leave and wished we had booked a longer stay. Thank you Brett, for letting us stay at your gem of a cabin.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad that mother nature put on a great display for you as you relaxed on the cabin's waterfront deck. You visited some of the best attractions in the area, too. Hiking the local trails is a fun way to enjoy nature. The lighthouse at the Calvert Marine Museum is also a big local favorite, and the otters there usually do put on a good show. I hope you'll come stay again.

A Southern Maryland gem on the Chesapeake

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our 9 day stay at this unique and comfortable log cabin overlooking the Chesapeake Bay and nestled in a lovely, off the beaten path Southern Maryland community. It exceeded our expectations for a rental home because of it's amenities, location, quiet community, charm, and interaction with the owner.

The owner was fully engaged from the time of booking and communicated with us frequently before, during, and after to ensure we had clear information about check in, use of the cabin features, and check out.

The cabin, while older, is very well appointed. It is very up to date in technology (TV, internet (yeah), heating controls, etc.). The décor is right on point for a "shore" cabin and reflects the pride of the owners and their interest in those who stay here. The views throughout the day were wonderful, from sunrise to sunset over the Bay. Walks along the shore looking for shark teeth and along the lanes surrounded by the fall foliage was relaxing and renewing.

The location provides easy access (15-25 minutes) to surrounding restaurants, shopping, grocery, museums, etc. We commuted easily to all of these and the additional locations we needed to visit friends and attend a wedding/reception.

We would recommend this for anyone looking for a great weekend get away or longer stay in Southern Maryland/Chesapeake area. We would love to stay here again when we travel to the east coast.

Wonderful home. Great views of the Bay. Hiking opportunities from the house.

  • 5 of 5

We saw bald eagles and container ships from the deck. Lots of nooks and crannies in the house to explore plus books and momentos from around the world. The Navy Cabin definitely will remain a favorite of our many vrbo experiences.

You will want to come back!

  • 5 of 5

If you need a pool, bar, or room service, this is not the place for you. If you appreciate simplicity, a great view and peace and quiet, you will love it here. A rustic retreat right on the bay. Stroll the beach and collect relics from a million years ago! Sip your favorite beverage on the deck and watch a wide variety of marine traffic from the local watermen checking their crab pots to fully loaded container ships heading out to sea. A great couples getaway.

Eagles and Osprey

  • 5 of 5

It was a relaxing week at Navy Cabin that we hated to see come to an end. The eagles performed beyond expectation, and the osprey provided a puzzle. They flew on patrol on Sunday and Monday, and on Tuesday they were gathered in groups of 10-17 flying over the cabin. On Wednesday, there wasn't an osprey to be sighted. I checked on their migration pattern and believe they gathered together on Tuesday to depart for the winter. We didn't see one after Tuesday. The deck, collection of books, and awesome stone fireplace added to the charm of our stay at Scientist's Cliffs.

A little bit of heaven on earth...

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a glorious weekend at Brett's cabin. The house was immaculate and well-appointed, and Brett couldn't have been nicer or more buttoned-up about the whole process. Scientists Cliffs is a wonderful spot: The beach goes on for miles, the people are super-friendly, and best of all, the view is spectacular -- from sunrise to daytime through the moon rising over the Chesapeake Bay. We'll be back...
