gorgeous waterfront cabin

  • 5 of 5

We were blown away by the amazing water views from inside and especially on the spacious deck of this charming cabin. The home is full of character and warmth. We brought food for our long weekend stay and never found a need to get in our car! If you are looking for a peaceful, serene place and amazing sunrises -- this is the place for you. And no fighting beach traffic!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. I'm so glad you were able to relax and take in the water views available both inside and outside of the cabin. The sunrises are particularly beautiful when viewed from the coziness of the upstairs twin bed.

Stunning view in charming rustic cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at the Navy Cabin. The view was absolutely amazing, you have sweeping views of the Bay from nearly every window. The hilly, forested area around the cabin completely surrounds you and blocks the view of and from neighboring cabins. The stone fireplace is fantastic, we had fires many times during our two month stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to cook and eat, except the food, including a plethora of spices. The weather was a little cold in December and January to spend too much time outside, but we still hung lights from the deck railing and spent some time out there enjoying the Bay. There was a snow storm one weekend and the woods were absolutely lovely covered in snow. The cabin is filled with lots of artistic knick knacks and dozens of books. There's also cable and internet for your use. The kitchen and baths could use an upgrade, but they are definitely serviceable and didn't impact on our stay at all. It was a wonderful time and we look forward to staying there again!

Lovely, quiet, serene

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this lovely cabin for 4 nights in October and had a wonderful experience. I went there in order to find some quiet time to write a paper for grad school (because I work full-time and have a family, so too many distractions at home), and it was the perfect place to concentrate. At the same time, it is just a lovely place to be. The cabin is on the western shore of the Chesapeake, and you get stunning sunrises and the opportunity to observe all kinds of birds, including herons, bald eagles (!!!), and others I wish I could identify. Also, when I needed a break from my work, walking around Scientists' Cliffs was a wonderful pastime, as it is lovely, with amazing trees, very quiet, and people are friendly and courteous. There is a beach, called South Beach, that is a long but really nice walk from the cabin, and once you get there, you can walk along the beach - and that's another great area for watching eagles. There are also hiking trails galore, easily accessible from the cabin. The cabin has a loving and historic feel to it, very comfortable, with everything you might need already considered: good books, board games, information on the area, a fully equipped kitchen, TV and A/C, wireless internet, etc. There's even an herb garden, from which I clipped a bunch of rosemary when I roasted a chicken one night - with spectacular results! I would definitely return to this cabin!
