The Cabin is the perfect place to "escape from life" and enjoy the peace and beauty needed to help you rejuvenate and relax. The views, location, and accommodations were exceptional! Thank you, Brett, for all the information you provided to help make our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. Your cabin certainly is a "hidden treasure".
Thank you for your kind review. I'm so glad you had such a wonderful and relaxing time at the cabin. It was a pleasure having you as a guest.
Come stay at the "hidden treasure" again.
One of the premiere views on the bay. Beautiful property. Beautiful hosts
Brett was 100% responsive to our every need and query! A camping atmosphere with all the amenities of home.
A cozy cabin in a beautiful location
We just finished our second stay at this cabin. We enjoyed the easy access to the beach to look for shells and shark's teeth. There's also very easy access to hiking trails associated with the American Chestnut Land Trust. "Early" risers can see the sun come up from the Chesapeake Bay waters. Going out to dinner generally meant driving about 20 minutes south to Solomons, but there's lots of nice restaurants there.
Overall, we highly recommend this location. Scientists' Cliffs, which this cabin is part of, is a tranquil haven and a not-too-difficult drive from the Washington, DC or Baltimore area. You'll be happy you visited
I'm so glad that you enjoyed yourself looking for shells and shark's teeth, hiking the trails and enjoying the sunrise on the Bay. Come back again!
The cabin is centrally located between Prince Frederick and Solomon Island. I was there during the winter months and not much to do in the area for this time of year, but here for work so it was ok. The best thing about the place is the view and sunrise on the bay in the morning which can be pretty spectacular. Movies, restaurants and hiking trails nearby. The cabin it self has quite a few quirks and some things need to be over looked, like the wine cork holding the shower head in the down stairs bathroom in place. The heat can be tricky but once you get it set its ok but drafty on windy days. The cable tv service has numerous channels to select from and the tivo came in handy for recording the Olympics while there, though the HD channels do not come in well and I reset the system via Comcast/xfinity several times. They would be ok for a day or so and then go crappy again. The kitchen has some issues as well. The oven was so greasy that I could not use it until the CLEAN cycle was ran and that is not fun to do in the winter as you have to open doors for ventilation or you will be smoked out. I also ended up donating an inexpensive cook set as I will not use pans that have the Teflon or enamel scratched off.
The cabin does offer spectacular waterfront views of the Chesapeake Bay, especially at sunrise, along with access to hiking trails, movies and restaurants. You’re close to nature when you’re staying there, and a warm fire adds to the cozy feeling. I’m sorry, though, that other aspects of the cabin didn’t fully meet your needs. I believe all of the HD channels are fine now. A new heat pump system was installed on both floors on March 8th for improved heating and air conditioning, the kitchen was cleaned again, and the shower head is being replaced the week of March 20th. My housekeeper and maintenance person live in the area and can respond readily to concerns once I’m made aware of them. I encourage all of my guests to let me know immediately when an issue arises, as I would not want it to persist for the remainder of their stay. I am very responsive when notified of problems, as my goal is for everyone to have a terrific stay at the cabin.
Great views and peaceful surroundings
It is a cozy cabin getaway with spectacular bay view. This view in the photo is exactly what you get- sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous, photogenic, inspiring, and calming. There are no buildings between you and the bay- the view is fantastic. We wanted a quiet winter vacation surrounded by nature and that's what we got. Brett gives you all the info you need to get the most out of your stay- great communication and very easy to work with. The sun room is perfect for a breakfast sunrise view, and the fireplace keeps things toasty into the evening.
I'm so glad the gorgeous views of sunrises and sunsets on the Chesapeake Bay met your expectations! Crisp winter days with a fire in the fireplace can be especially cozy. I'm so glad you and your little dog had such a great time, even walking down on the teach. Come stay again!
A Southern Maryland gem on the Chesapeake
We enjoyed our 9 day stay at this unique and comfortable log cabin overlooking the Chesapeake Bay and nestled in a lovely, off the beaten path Southern Maryland community. It exceeded our expectations for a rental home because of it's amenities, location, quiet community, charm, and interaction with the owner.
The owner was fully engaged from the time of booking and communicated with us frequently before, during, and after to ensure we had clear information about check in, use of the cabin features, and check out.
The cabin, while older, is very well appointed. It is very up to date in technology (TV, internet (yeah), heating controls, etc.). The décor is right on point for a "shore" cabin and reflects the pride of the owners and their interest in those who stay here. The views throughout the day were wonderful, from sunrise to sunset over the Bay. Walks along the shore looking for shark teeth and along the lanes surrounded by the fall foliage was relaxing and renewing.
The location provides easy access (15-25 minutes) to surrounding restaurants, shopping, grocery, museums, etc. We commuted easily to all of these and the additional locations we needed to visit friends and attend a wedding/reception.
We would recommend this for anyone looking for a great weekend get away or longer stay in Southern Maryland/Chesapeake area. We would love to stay here again when we travel to the east coast.
I'm so glad your expectations were exceeded at my cozy waterfront cabin. It sounds like mother nature did her part with the sunrises, sunsets, waterview and finding fossilized shark's teeth on the beach. I hope you'll come stay again.
